Too old for Disney...what?

I had to share this...
I was on the shuttle bus into work this morning when two women sitting across from me started talking. This is how the conversation went.

Woman 1: We're taking the kids to Disney at the end of May this year.
Woman 2: Oh, really? They'll have a blast. "So and so" just took their kids last week. I think they are a little bit too old for Disney, but I guess they must've had a good time.

What??? How can ANYONE be too old for Disney?? I wanted to say that outloud, but thought I'd get a look if I did. So, I had to share it with people who could understand. "Woman 2" just wasn't feeling the magic I guess.

Thanks goodness I am not too old! (I just turned 50). Our family is never together without the discussion at some point turning to Disney. Either a memory or a new plan or a new what if we...... Our kids joke that we will be the "old" retired couple that meets you at the gate or works in the Ice Cream Shop on Main Street to which we reply "what's your point?" If our retirements only works out so well!

When people make a crack at me about enjoying going to WDW so much, I just say that I'm the worlds most cynical 5 year old.

Please don't tell my "88" year old father inlaw he's too old. He LOVES disney and it's so much fun watching him. I think the older you are the more you appreciate all the details and how hard Disney works at making everything so special.

I will say that when I was a teenager I was really sick of Disney. From when I was 4 until 18 we went every 2 or 3 years and that was the only vacations we took, other than day trips or maybe a weekend now and then. I was really sick of it. My idea of vacation is to sleep late and lie around, not get up early and walk all day. My father is someone that really has to be doing something all the time, and he loved Disney and wouldn't go anyplace else. Most times when we went we'd drive down and spend a couple days at Daytona or some other beach while my dad recovered from driving and then we'd go to Disney. I won't say I didn't enjoy it while I was there, but I really wanted to try someplace else for a vacation. (Now my parents go to Vegas for every vacation.)

My whole family was surprised when I took my kids to WDW three years ago, because they figured I didn't like it. I like it, but it is more fun for me to take my little kids and see their enjoyment than to go for myself. We're going again next week, and I figure one more trip before they are teens, then we'll see what everyone wants to do. If it was just me and DH I would probably go once to show him and then wait ten years to go and see what new things are in WDW.

TOO OLD FOR DISNEY??!!

Wow I feel sorry for people who think they are too old for Disney! I'm turning 42 in June and I'll NEVER be too old to be a part of the magic!

My cousins are in thier 60's and are taking an anniversary trip this summer. They are so excited!

I met a lady a few year ago in the Magic Kingdom celebrating her 90th Birthday and she had been to the Bibbidy Bobbidy Boutique!! She is my new role model! That's how I want to be when I get older...never too old to be a kid again!

By the way, Last year, I visited the Boutique myself and had a blast! had the works, hair and nails! ME and all of the tiny princesses had a wonderful, magical time!

I can still get my kids to DL but when we go to FL they want to do IOA for the bigger coasters and no waiting in line since we stay on site. I would say they are outgrowing some aspects of it and just prefer more mature rides. We enjoy IOA as much as Disney so we don't mind a little change of pace.

Dad: No Hannah, Your 13 Years old and you are too old for disney.

It happen to me with a co-worker saying my son (11 soon to be 12) was too old for Disney. My reply : are you kidding me-never too old for Disney - I am 35 and can't wait to go back, neither is he.
She really didn't say much after that, but I agree some people just don't get the magic, how sad

A person's ability to enjoy WDW very much depends on their state of mind. Serious people have a tough time letting go and just having fun (anywhere).

I am a type A personailty - but at WDW I am a child...

There is no age that is "too old." The activities/interests change over time, and Disney has done a great job with offerings for everyone! Last trip 15 yo DS took off on his own many time to ride Test Track (14 times,) Mount Everest (3 times) and Rockin Roller Coaster (2 times.) This trip he'll be 17 and DD 13. They're both psyched for different reasons, and mom & I have more time for cocktails! All good in the world...

I agree with everyone. We went with our then DS10 and DD8 last April. We are going again this August. We'll probably wait another 2 or 3 years to go again because we would like to go other places too, but that doesn't mean that we won't go back because they'll be 13 and 15 or 16 and 18.
We LOVE Disney!

My DD is 18 and a college honor student and loves WDW more now then she did at 5! I'm a lot older than her and I hope I never outgrow the magic!

I think kids are just forced to grow up too fast these days. My husband and I are in our early 30's and we are like little kids going to Disney world! I hope my kids are never too old. My almost 7 year old tells me right now that her dream is to work in Disney World!
