Has anyone done this? My sister told me that she read here that the patio tables at Tony's offer a nice view of SpectroMagic. We absolutely love that parade, so I thought we might try this for one of the three nights we hope to see it while we're there this fall. I have an ADR for 7:10 and she said people just say they want to wait for a patio table. Does anyone have any photos of the parade if you've done this? I have never even really paid attention to Tony's so I don't know how the view will be.

Also, I'm guessing we might be dining with love bugs, too, unfortunately. I hate those stupid bugs! Hmmm...do they keep the patio open even during love bug season? I just thought of that.

Any advice and pics of the parade from Tony's patio would sure be great! :goodvibes

No picures but we did this on our last trip. We didn't plan that but we were seated on the patio just before the parade. It travels directly in front of the patio with an excellent view. If you go when it's crowded make sure you get there early to put your request in.

Oh thank you! I am really looking forward to this now! I really appreciate your info!

Dumb question on my part, but I've never been to Tony's: Is this on the ground level or on a second floor? If it is on the ground, don't people stand in front of you?

We wathced spectro from the patio last year and it was a great way to spend our dinner. We are going to try and request it again this Septmeber.

For those of you who have seen SpectroMagic from the Tony's patio, do you remember about how long you had to wait if you requested a patio table? Our ADR is for 7:10 pm. I figure that surely we'll be seated by 8:00 when the parade starts. What do you think? I also plan to arrive a few minutes early to make the request.

I was there for dinner after work one day in August. Didn't request a patio table but received one. I actually finished my meal about 10 minutes before the parade, and my server suggested that I stay seated to watch, but I had things to do.

I did find it amazing that so many people climbed over the ropes and seated themselves at tables, WITH strangers who were still eating in order to watch the parade!! The servers continually had to shoo people away.

I didn't think the view was all that spectacular, frankly. Although it is nice to have the seating, there are still people standing in front of you at the edge of the parade route. I'd say you can see the higher up things very well, but things like the individual dancers, etc and the characters aren't really that visible.

We were seated and watched a family sneak in through the front part and sit at a table on the patio. When the server came out there was a lot of discussion, but they were ultimately allowed to stay. I was floored that they weren't asked to leave!!! It was a very busy night and they had clearly said no more walk ups at least 30 minutes earlier.

Just remember that there is no AC on the patio. I can't imagine eating a big honkin' plate of pasta in the humid Florida heat. For us, meals are a way to enjoy a little AC while taking a break from the parks.

I am not excited about the heat, or the love bugs, but I think it sounds like a neat way to see SpectroMagic. We will be seeing it three or four times while we are there - if our hopping plans work like I hope they will. At this meal, it will just be me, DH, DD who will be 5 and DS1. I think DH and I will share one meal with a TS credit and order DD a kids' meal. I am not super excited about the food at Tony's b/c the menu doesn't look that great to me. I am doing it just as a neat way to see SpectroMagic (with chairs :goodvibes ).

Just like the OP said, the AC at the restaurants is such a treat after a long hot day. AC is like extra dessert! I really am not an outdoors person anyway and DH can't even believe I am such a Disney addict b/c it requires me to be outdoors for a solid week. :rotfl: I am just really trying not to think of those stupid love bugs trying to eat our pasta with us! :scared1:
