My DD's ENT thinks that DD will need her tonsils out shortly. She has already had her adenoids taken out, but they may need to come out again too. She wants to wait until DD turns 3 in a few months to do the surgery. While DD isn't having any major issues right now, her ENT feels that the tonsils and adenoids are becoming obstructive again (her adenoids were almost fully obstructing her nasal passages before the first surgery). She may or may not get another set of ear tubes during this surgery. We're waiting to see if she has any ear infections between now and her 3rd birthday, apparently.
Anyways, does anyone on here have experience with a child getting a tonsillectomy at age 3? I understand that the recovery is much harder than from the adenoidectomy alone. Will DD bounce back pretty quickly because she is so young? Her ENT said that she won't be able to go to the playground for 14 days after the surgery
I am not sure how DD will handle that because she's so active!
