We're driving to Disney this time, the first since 1986. In past visits, we've always had a towncar service pick us up at MCO and wisk us off to BWV. However since it's just us two empty nesters going, we decided to drive. We'll be traveling south on I-75 till the Florida Turnpike intersects it, and take it on into Orlando and then finally BWV.

My question is, what kind of toll costs will we encounter? I've looked at the $50 Sunpass thing, but I have know idea if we'll ever drive to Florida again to justify buying it.

Thanks for any help here.

Check out the SunPass toll calculator here. It should help calculate your tolls for you. If you are driving your own car, you may want to look in to ordering the SunPass Mini, people have reported being able to order online and have it sent to their home address. I think it costs $4.99 and includes the same in tolls when activated. This would be better than the SunPass portable that costs $25.

The SunPass Mini works out to be basicall free with the tolls but must be affixed to your windshield and thus is really for use only in your personal car. Those that wish to use a SunPass in various rental cars during numerous visits should purchase the $25 model.

As for tolls, there is one mainline toll plaza along the Turnpike after you leave I-75. It is $2.50 cash, $2.00 with SunPass.

If you remain on the Turnpike and get off at I-4, there is an additional $.50 ramp toll there, cash or SunPass. Should you decide to depart the Turnpike earlier at TOLL 429 and head south to Disney's Western Way entrance, then there is no additional toll on the Turnpike but the 429 does have a mainline toll plaza shortly after you get on that road and it's $1.25, cash or SunPass. This particular plaza is signed as E-PASS, as are many around Orlando. However, all tolls marked as E-PASS lanes accept SunPass transponders.
