For the first time ever, we are going to WDW in June. All our other visits have been during the off-peak seasons. If you go in the summertime, how do you mentally (and physically I suppose, lol) handle the crowds and the heat? Is it still magical even if you have to wait 2 hours to ride Splash mountain?

Also, we were there on 05/05/05, and it was quite crowded due to the big media thing. The most crowds that we had ever seen. Do you think that the 1st week of June will compare to that, or be worse?

Thanks! :)

We went the 1st week of June in 05. First off-not to get to personal I took 6 cotton bras. I wore at least 2 a day & washed them in the room & hung them up. We went ot the room for a break in the afternoon sometimes swam& sometimes just relaxed in the room. Changed our clothes including underwear, sock & shoes. that made you feel brand new. It also rained a little everyday but that was fine, unless it rained enough to get you panchos out, buy cheap ones & just throw them away after the rain is done. They get all steamy under there. Crowds were ok tour early. We will more than likely do Early June again when the kids get older.

I have never been to WDW in June, but I have been in August and boy is it HOT! I agree with Kae; sometimes we would go back to our room just to swim, or we would shower and change before we went back out that night.

We also found the spray waterbottles to be really helpful. My girls loved them and it kept them cool. Also, drink plenty of water! Even though it's hot we never really complain because we are at Disney World!:yay:

We've gone twice in August and once in July. This year we're going in June.
We schedule in afternoon breaks for swimming (or just relaxing). We too changed clothes twice a day and it makes a difference.
We're expecting large crowds due to YOMD. We're also staying longer this trip - 10 days. Part of that decision was made because we want to get to see things we didn't get to in 8 days last year.
Doing the dining plan does take up more time, but it's nice to sit down and have a good meal versus counter service for 10 days.
You have to go with the expectation that it will be hot and crowded but if you have a game plan on how to deal with it, it's managable.

We always go in summer so as not to interfere with kids schools. Try to do fastpasses for the rides that have ridiculously long waits. I would never ever do a ride that had more than 45 min wait in that heat! We plan ahead with a strategy of sorts so as to hit a cple major rides first thing, then grab fast passes for something else, then do a few minor rides. The shows can be a godsend for cooling off. STAY HYDRATED! We bring disposable plastic cups for splitting drinks b/c sometimes its hard to finish while its still cold. Mister fans are great. If you have kiddos, let them play in water areas, but bring water shoes (so sneakers don't get all squishy soaked) and a spare outfit in a ziplock bag. I let kids get wet somewhere when it feels the hottest (around 3pm) then they stay in wet clothes to stay cool for a cple hours, then change and go someplace airconditioned for dinner.

I (and my family) swore back years ago that we were done with summer at WDW, but due more to the crowds than heat (we are used to massive heat and humidity in the deep South).

For the most part, I would say that Disney has done a great job of helping us tolerate the heat. I mean, there are points in every line where it is hot, but before you know it, you're under shade or in the cool inside queue. The misting fans help a lot and of course wearing light colors in cotton help too.

We've always gone in the summer time, August is hotter than June in my opinion. We're going in June this year and I'm not fretting the heat too much really. Lots of sunscreen though!!!

Our favorite time of the year is summer. We used to go mostly in Nov/December. This will be our 3rd summer trip and we love it.

No more carrying to season's worth of clothes.......just shorts and t-shirts now. Disney does summer right. Don't get me wrong - It's HOT! With all the indoor buildings and indoor attractions. There are also plenty of sit down and covered fast food restaurant spots it's not too bad.

Now Busch Gardens Tampa is another story. There was only one indoor attraction and it was the worst day of the trip we had one year. But Disney is totally doable!
