Supposedly, Apple is announcing the 5th generation Touch today at 1pm EST. Kinda hoping it doesn't have too many new features, so that I can just get the 4th generation for dd, and be done with it, lol!

But anxiously awaiting to see what features it's going to have,

I just got my iPhone 4 over the summer so I dont need a new phone but I am anxiously awaiting iOS 5 and iCloud to be released. IMO, those two things will keep me from wanting the iPhone 5 anytime soon.

ETA: I think getting your DD the iPhone 4 with the upgraded operating system should do just fine.

ETA Again: Oops, I'm talking phone you're talking touch. Ignore me.

I think the only thing that will put me over the edge into buying her the 5th generation vs. the 4th generation will be if they upgrade the camera on it.

Looks like the 4th gen only has a 3mp camera? Would be nice if they would upgrade that to a 5mp or so.

I was wondering where I could find the announcement about the new generation ipod touch, but thanks for that info!

I'm sure we'll be seeing it everywhere once it's announced, but at this time, I'm watching a live streaming show on ustream.tv

I'm trying to find a different site though that is showing the actual press conference.

I've been waiting to see what'll happen with this today. DP needs a new phone and we're due an upgrade from Verizon, but I didn't want to get her the 4 in case the 5 came out in the meantime. Seemed silly to spend all that and not get the new one.

A lot of people who were expecting the iphone 5 are going to be very disappointed. Is there anything new about this ipod touch beside the white casing? Doesn't sound like it's something that is worth holding a new conference for.

It's not a 5, but from what I can tell from a few searches it has a much better processor, camera, and video camera as well as a few other bells and whistles...they just aren't calling it a 5. But it is "new" and I guess "better." I'm an andriod phone user so I only glazed over the details. I was hoping for more changes to the iPods...

Why would they be disappointed? It's just not going to be called the 5. It's the 4S. What difference would the name make?
