today I got called

Another 'crazy Disney lady' here. I live in an area where people rarely go to Disney...ever. It's a rural area where people take their vacation time to go to hunting camps. Schools get the first day of firearms deer season off due to the number of hunters. I'm even crazier because I take advantage of that extra day off and go to Disney during that time. Of course, when someone is planning a trip, I'm the first person to be called/texted for information.

Oh, well. As Jimmy Buffet would say, "If we weren't all crazy, we would all go insane."

Ha! Me too, girl! (People at work almost certainly see me as the crazy Disney lady and I'm also a lawyer.)

It's to the point where people think we go all the time when, actually, we only just went last month and it had been 5 years since we'd been there. I think I just EXUDE Disney at all times.

My family DEFINITELY sees me as the Crazy Disney Lady because...you know...they know me pretty well and see me doing things like Disneybounding and purchasing Disney blu ray disks when I'm pretty much the only one watching them.

My dream? To plan a trip with some of you and go on my own someday!

I love your idea of a dream vacation Jenninaustin! It would be so much fun to go with fellow crazy Disney ladies! Of course, our planning would be a nightmare! We all love the planning as much as the trip, so we might have a bit of trouble there. Tee Hee. :rotfl:

Once there, it would be so much fun running around and hanging out with people who are such huge fans as me!

We should keep this in mind and do it sometime! :happytv:

My family knows I am a Crazy Disney lady and tolerates my obsession to a certain level. My kids know I like spending time on the DIS boards and love all things Disney! I have my Disney mugs I use everyday, year round at home! We only go every four to five years. We got to go this past February when my son's high school band marched in the MK! I loved it! My DD and I went ahead and had a full seven days there. My son and DH came down later with the band for just three days. Unfortunately, my kids and DH talk about going on trips elsewhere and my DD even talks about wanting to visit the other park in Orlando! NOOO!

Fortunately, I am a middle school teacher, so there is usually some kid or two heading to Disney during the school year that I can talk to a little bit. My immediate colleagues not so much. They just don't get it. So, that is why I come here to the DIS my home away from home happy place! It is the next best thing to actually being there in person! Thanks everyone!

I might be one, I have had 3 different friends over this summer to help plan their trip. :rotfl:
We were talking about the 2 of us going for FD but I don't know if it would be as much fun without them. Now if a group of CRAZY disney ladies go, that might be another story.
Pick some dates, I'll start planning...............

Everyone knows I'm the crazy Disney lady too...but I'm the first one they e-mail/text when thinking of a trip...want to be sure they're catching the latest discount and they know I'll know! I'm good with it!

Me too! Everyone teases me about it, but I'm the first one they ask when they need to know something!

I can't stand when colleagues go and don't plan anything. They come back and tell me how they didn't go at rope drop, all they did was wait in line, they didn't follow the touring plans from the Unofficial Guide that I gave them, that they'll never go back. Breaks my heart! I still buy the Unofficial Guide every time I go even though I know the touring plans by heart, lol.

I would LOVE to plan a Crazy Disney Lady trip, guys! Think how affordable we could make it....if 4 of us were willing to share a room we could stay at a Deluxe. :)

I think it depends on the people, I always ask folks how they like to travel. My first trip I did all the rules, made adrs, followed tour plans etc and it was a disaster. My kids ended up in tears and said they wished they stayed in nyc with grandma and my husband literally threaten to not pay for one thing more if I pulled out another spreadsheet, lol I had 2.
For me I gauge who I'm helping, if after 10 minutes they have a glazed look, it's time to back away from the plans

It breaks your heart that some people prefer a different style of vacation than you? :confused3

We enjoy Disney, do rope drop, follow touring plans, etc., but it does make for a go-go-go style of vacation. Fortunately, we have enough vacation time and room in our budget for other kinds of more relaxing vacations, too. If I only had the opportunity to vacation once a year or once every other year, I wouldn't be too thrilled with Disney, either, as much as I love it.

This must be why WDW doesn't appeal to me any more. I can do one decent trip every 2-3 years so I splurge on a Disney Cruise. I think it's because as a single mom my life is chaotic and stressful and I don't want to spend my hard earned money and precious vacation days running around and waiting in lines.

I can only imagine being called many worse things. My co workers know how much I enjoy going and they all come to me for vaca advice when they go. Whether they use it or not is up to them. I don't talk about it unless people ask me. My desk area is politely decorated with Disney ( I work in a school) so it is appropriate. I do have family members however who are not so kind and talk it upon them selves to call me stupid and wasteful for going. That's just fine, karma is a....you know what. I have awesome memories with my children and other family members to last a lifetime. Call me CRAZY if you want, if we are talking Disney I wear it as a badge of honor.:flower3:

I ASPIRE to be the Crazy Disney Lady at my place of work but there are a few ahead of me in line!! I'm very shy so it gives me something to talk about with folks that I know share our love of the World.

On a side note... my direct supervisor was showing our new boss around and introduced me to her. New Boss was carrying a DVC portfolio (I think that is what it is called- looked like leather and would have either a legal pad or papers inside it) so I commented on it. My supervisor rolled her eyes and told New Boss that I am a Disney freak. New Boss smiled and said "So am I"!! I hope I get a chance to tell her about my spontaneous trip to experience Frozen Summer Fun!

That is a great story! I think it would be a good idea for you to get together with her to hear her story. It sounds like it would be a nice way to get to know your new boss and vice versa

People laugh at my obsession with Disney but who cares, I'm in good company here. My family loves it too so I really don't let it bother me. Its my happy place and will never stop planning trips. I am definitely the crazy Disney lady, yep and proud of it .:cool1:

"the crazy Disney lady" at work. I was talking to another nurse who is going in Sept. She's not excited at all. I just can't understand that. She's staying at the Dolphin I think, has the expensive dining plan, still has a little guy who has never been so that will be fun. I don't think I talk about Disney that much at work. I don't know whether to be insulted or complimented! They think I go too much. This will be our 4th or 5th time in 8 yrs. For now, it's what we like. If any of my co-workers knew how much I planned for our trip, I'd definitely be the Crazy Disney Lady, lol

Yeah, I get it, too. The irony is that it is DH who is the park junkie; I just hate wasting money on things I don't get to enjoy properly, so I plan.

And how pathetic is it that what first caught my eye about your post was that if your co-worker is staying at the Dolphin, then she cannot be on any dining plan, as the Dolphin doesn't participate in the DDP. (Great hotel, though; we stay there at least every other Christmas -- on points! :santa:)

Same here!! They all kid at work about how often we go - most people in our area our one timers. But as soon as they are ready to plan that once in a lifetime trip they are always knocking on my door. lol

I'm known as the Disney Person also. Some think I'm nuts. Some think it's funny. Some totally understand.

Those who get it, get it. Those who don't, eh...no need to worry about them.

Two of our offices merged recently and i don't know all of the new people. One of the new ones came up to me with excited eyes and grabbed my hands and said, "I heard you love WDW". She went on to tell me she and her husband go several times a year and she stays in POR. That's where we're staying during our first time on site. She showed me her office. It looked like a disney princess animator had thrown up in there. I couldn't believe it. She loves Princess Arianna or Alana, one I'd never heard of. She had a poster of her with this princess. Anyway, I love having a new friend to obsess over Disney with me.

I am also this person. I love it there and I don't care how many others judge me for it. Some folks go to the same destinations every year anyway so particularly in those cases I really think they needn't judge.

I have upcoming maternity leave and you'd better believe I've been trying to figure out how to squeeze in a little trip near the end of it!

My friend thought I was the totally crazy Disney lady when I was trying to help her plan her first trip (she loved the discount I led her to though!). You know that glazed eye look people give you when you are talking Disney and trying to help them plan? ;):rotfl: I believe she actually laughed at me and maybe even rolled her eyes. Now, that same friend is a MUCH crazier Disney lady than me-- the girl has spreadsheets for her next WDW trip for goodness sake!!! I've never had spreadsheets.

Yep-I'm known as the Disney nut at work too- both coasts because we do both DL and WDW. I had a WDW crazy counterpart, but he no longer works here, and I miss our Disney talks! I've gotten a few others on the Disney kick here who have loved their recent trips to WDW, but none of them are as crazy as me. I had a friend contact me who wants to meet this weekend and bring DL maps so I can help her plan the DL A&E morning run (no FPs there and we made the run last week) and some other things there. My friends may think I'm crazy, but they come find me when it is time to plan their Disney trips!!!

Funny thing is I get the most grief from a couple of people who have vacation houses. Really- you make fun of me because every trip is "Disney", but you bought a 2nd house at your vacation or lake destination???!!!! How is going to the same lake, beach, or mountain multiple times a year any different? They go there more than I go to Disney!

Thiabelle sounds like you have a good way to bond with the new boss. I was one of the bosses of my former WDW crazy counterpart's and we had a great time talking Disney and we worked really well together.

as an aside, our corporation hired Disney to come in and raise productivity and ream spirit. It was epic fail. All the higher ups dressed as characters. I had high expectations thinking it was DISNEY, but it was the usual rah, rah, be a team player. Must've cost a fortune.
