I have found a good deal for VB and would like to buy there as I love the beach and the whole theme. My husband however, feels that it is too far from us and would rather perhaps buy at on of the WDW properties (we are actually hoping to buy both but the VB is a pretty good deal provided it isn't swooped up with ROFR).

I am trying to find good reasons to buy at VB since I would love to stay there as much as possible. He is concerned that it will cost us money to transfer our points to stay at any of the WDW properties. I told him I thought you could use your points at any of the Disney properties provided there was availability(adhering to the 11/7 window). He thinks there is a $95 charge.

Please clear this up for us and if possible, give me reasons (other than that is where you will be staying the most) to buy at VB instead of other Disney resorts.

I know about the low density and slower paced atmosphere; just looking for more. Also if there are great websites with as much building information, pictures, everything one would want to know before making a large purchase, I would so appreciate it! Thanks for your time!!

There's no charge to make a ressie at any of the DVC resorts. You just wait until the 7 month window opens and call MS. We're staying at VB and then in May at BCV, our homes are BWV and VWL.

I am sorry I can not tell you anything first hand about Vero Beach since I have never been. However, I have read many positive reports about it and hope to visit there someday soon. I am sure you will get responses from those that have gone.

As far as paying a fee to stay at the WDW DVC villas, no you do not have to pay a fee. You just will have to wait until the 7 month window to book there if VB is your "home" resort. The $95 charge is for the World Passport, Concierge Collection and I believe for Disney Cruise Line. Someone please correct me if I am wrong.

Good Luck with your decision. I know it is not easy. I am sure others will give you information on Vero that will hopefully help you decide. Many here have said booking stays during the 7 month window, with the exception of the busiest and most popular times, is usually not a problem. We are new members and have not booked yet, so I know I am counting on that to be true. We own at OKW but would love to try other resorts.

Good Luck

Our family enjoys VB. We have one DS aged 11 who prefers Vero over WDW resorts. That said, we also own at OKW so we still get our theme park fix when necessary. We have never really had trouble booking at OKW within 7 months during most seasons. Of course, holidays will always be tough without the home resort booking advantage.

We like VB because...

1. It is relaxing

2. We like the pool area, Bleacher's food and drink, Community Hall, etc.

3. Cast members are great

4. The beach is nice and very convenient

5. Shutters and Sonyas restaurants have very good food and you can order off either menu in either restaurant.

6. The Green Cabin Room is a great place to hang out at night for a drink or a pizza. In fact, its one of the best things about the resort. I still remember years ago they had kids games on the shelves. They took those out so now we always take our own. It is even better now that smoking is not allowed. The staff there have been there for many years now.

7. There is a wide variety of nice restaurants in the immediate area and traffic is not really an issue. Its fun to wander out although we prefer to hang out at the resort.

8. Oh yeah, its RELAXING!

We just got back from Vero, we have been talking about going to the parks in November, both kids want to go back to VERO!!! My 4 year old prefers Mickey's Beach House, over Mickey's Fun House!!! Now thinking of changing our 7 day cruise in the summer to a 4 nighter and hit Vero for 3-4 nights!

We bought at Vero because we go at Easter and wanted to be assured of the 11 month window. However, we have also used our points at BCV's, OKW and VWL at the 7 month window or less. We aren't that picky about where we stay at WDWorld and figure whatever we get, we get. Sometimes I take whatever is available and waitlist for something else.

Oh, and when our friends invited us to stay with them at one of Vero's Beach Cottages, we were sold! :sunny:

I agree with "thegoods" post about VB. If you plan on going to VB at least every other year or more, than VB would be a good choice. We like having the 11 month window at both VB + OKW.

Here are some good sites of VB with pictures for you below.........

We have taken up Nick's advice and we own at BCV for 11mo window into WDW and VB for 11mo window into a beach resort

So far we have combined out trips to experience both - it is a great combination for the kids and VB is about 1 3/4 hours from MCO airport and 2 hours to WDW Front Gate

thanks

jaysue...........if we ever ended up with another add-on, I think it would be BCV as well. We love it there..........so peaceful, but all of the action just a 5 or 10 minute walk away. ::yes::
