To those with "large" families

By Dec, we will be a family of 8. The last 2 trips, my inlaws have been with us and we got adjoining rooms. A couple of kids would sleep in their room. During the day, the adjoining door would be open, only closed at night. It has worked out well, but it won't be an option much longer. I've been pricing our next Disney trip and I'm assuming we'll need 2 rooms, adjoining.

Renting DVC points was the way for us this year... 7 people total. But we also get to stay at the Beach Club.... soooo looking forward to this trip!

We are a family of 6, we are now DVC members. We love Disney but wouldn't be able to afford to go every year if we weren't DVC members.

Another family of 6 here and that's one of the reasons we also joined DVC! And as far as families of 5 go, the 2 newest DVC resorts (Kidani Village and Bay Lake Tower) have 1 bedroom villas that sleep 5 (and have TWO full baths). Before we joined DVC we discovered the junior suites (aka "deluxe room) at Wilderness Lodge and at Boardwalk Inn. Those rooms sleep 6 - but only one bathroom. But if you have 6 and want a deluxe resort it's a great option (as long as you can all share the bathroom!). Now that our kids are teenageers the one bathroom thing would NEVER work anymore so I'm soooo happy we joined DVC when we did!!

As far as DCL goes - I was really hoping the Dream would have options for families of 6 - I was dissapointed to see only the max 5 capacity rooms - unless of course we could get a $uite (not!). We have to get 2 rooms and took the advice from these boards to get rooms across the hall from each iother rather than adjoining. We spent most of the time in the veranda room and kept most of our stuff in the inside room. On our next cruise we are booked like that again as well, but if we decide to change from a 4 day to a 3 day I might be able to do the rooms adjoining.
