Being tagged started out as something special because it was a surprise. You didn't know what it would say or when it would appear. It had a bit of that disney magic because it was unexpected. "Oh I've been tagged!"

Then somewhere down the road every newbie and their brother started asking, begging (it's a fine line when posting for tags). And so did clapping (I would LOVE to know who started that!) chanting, every obnoxious think you can think of. FYI, you can't ask for a surprise. It's not magical if you know it's coming. And I don't think it's fair to the tag fairies. It's like going to Disney and asking for the little things people have been surprised with over the years, and/or being mad because you didn't get it. But that's my opinion so disregard it if you want. Beg away, and use 'cut and paste', you can get a LOT of claps that way! I've seen it about a thousand times It gets very old.

No, it's just I've been around longer than 3 months and have seen too many people beg for tags to not get annoyed once in a while. I'll still be going to WDW

Well said and I totally agree.

Being "tagged" used to be something fun and surprising. It was based on things you had posted on the DISboards and about your "personality" as it developed on the board.

Now it's become a game of "gimme my tag!" It's lost the fun and the magic because the tags don't represent much anymore.

If you wait, the tags will come. Just be patient and participate.

But please let's end the begging.

Come on everyone - stop the arguing. A lot of things are being said by a lot of people, and mostly in jest. But now it is getting serious. We are looking forward to our holidays, we are learning from one another, so please keep it that way. I love coming to these boards, as doing so moves me nearer to a place I would like to be, but I am not going to visit if people are going to start in-fighting. We need peace in this world. Alright, sometime in our lifetimes, we will get tagged - we can all wait. Don't let's forget the fun.

FYI you can put whatever you like in your tag line yourself.

At one time the tag thing was supposed to be fun and a surprise. Posting for it is usually not the best way to obtain one.

Head over to the CB and you will find lots of fun people to be around. You may have more luck once you have posted a little more and people get to know you.

You know being new to this board Ive seen other posts to the tag fairy with no negative remarks. I though that was how you got attention in order to get tagged. Now Im sorry I started this thread- how's that for the Disney magic? I guess people who preorder their kids surpirses for their trip better think twice because it's not really magical if you preorder special stuff. Like stuffed animals etc.

Don't sweat it, crabmeal! Some people are always getting their panties in a bunch for some reason or another around here. I've seen lots of similar posts before as well without the cranky comments. Don't give it another thought! Most folks around here are very nice and helpful, so please stick around and ignore the others!

I have been longing for a tag ever since I went from a Welcomed Guest to a DIS veteran. Although I would never come out and ask to be tagged (I'm too shy), I don't think it's a bad thing for others to ask. I also have to say I noticed those that were a little "hostile" have already been tagged more than once. Maybe if it annoys you so much, then just don't read threads about the Tag Fairy. I think she would be disappointed in your ungracious attitudes. Let's all share the love.

I've been using these boards regularly since 1999 and still no tag.

I prefer to think that the Tag Fairy is saving an extra-special tag for me!!

I suppose you missed my point.

Tags used to be about your personality on the DIS and snippets of humorous things you said in a post. All of mine are from posts I made on the DIS. I never asked/begged for them -- they just appeared -- like magic.

As someone else said, you can create your own tag.

Select User CP.
Select Edit Profile
Scroll down to "Custom User Text" field.
Type in whatever cute tag you want to appear beneath your name. Separate multiple tags onto separate lines by pressing Enter.
Click Save Changes at the bottom of your screen.

Your profile is updated and you have your tag. Piece of cake. The only thing you can't do is add color to it.

So go forth and tag thyself!

Hey......Life is too short to be fighting over a tag... we are all equal here, it does not matter how long you have been posting when the tag fairy gets to you.. she gets to you... but I do not want the OP to feel bad about asking for a tag and saying that she believed.. Geez, this is just fun.. let's keep it that way.

Now in saying all of this... It's lots of fun to be surprised by the tag fairy with a new tag. However, Since this post has nothing to do about planning a trip, I'm going to close it now. Feel free to post this on our community board...and let's remember to be nice to each other..
