To the person in the Target parking lot today...

.

Wow, that's a strong statement. I saw someone leave a cart in the parking lot the other day. She was handicapped and I would NEVER want to be in her shoes. No handicapped spots left and she was parked as close to the front as possible. :( We are so quick to judge all. So sad.

If this is truely the case then the nice thing would be take the cart for this person and put it where it belongs in the corral.

The handicapped spots were probably full with people who are not suppose to park there.

I agree with the others, the majority that leave them are just too lazy and have an I don't care attitude, of it's only a car. Well I worked hard to afford a nice car, and I don't vandalize other's belongings and don't appreciate other's contributing to the vandalism of mine.

I saved a woman's car from a run-away cart last week. The previous user put it in the cart corral, but not securely. I ran after the cart and stopped it about 3 feet from the car. The woman, who was leaning against her car, seemed indifferent to the run-away cart or the fact that I stopped it from slamming into her car. She just looked at me a took another drag from her cigarette. I said, "You're welcome." sarcastically and put the cart away. Now that I think about it ... maybe it wasn't her car! :rotfl:

No, it's not a strong statement. If a handicapped person can't return the cart to the corral, then he/she should ask a store worker to do it for them. I can't imagine any store that wouldn't help someone out to the car.

feralpeg, I live in Missouri and the bag boys will help you take your groceries out to the car. They ask only sometimes. But, I know if you requested it, they will do it.

I know they don't ask at Target (as they don't have bag boys (or persons of indiscriminate gender-as my DH just told me to say  ). But, I'm sure you could get someone to help you if you asked. I still don't see any excuse not to return your carts. It's 20 feet!!!! Oh, and I do make sure that my carts stay in the corral. I think I scared some guy today (at Target) when I shoved my cart into the corral. I did it kind of too hard.

As a Kroger bagger myself please, please, please, please, I'm begging you here, return you cart to the corral. It always perplexes me as to how carts end up in the middle of parking spots, taking up to as many as three at a time, with a cart corral just a few short steps away. Another thing, there is a reason there are trash cans all over the store in and out. They are for trash believe it or not. The carts are not for trash. Trash cans are for trash. You would not belive what people leave behind, except for the person that left a winning lottery ticket behind. Guess who got all $20 of it.

Oh, I just rememberd another pet peeve. No matter how hard you try the larger cart will not fit into the smaller cart in the corral. Just this week we lost five carts because people had to test their cart wedging abitity.

If you are damaged by a cart let the store know. Our's will come out and access the damage. We take pictures of the damage, line up the carts to see if they are the same level and then take more pictures. Stores are libel for damage from shopping carts...that's why they have the corrals for them. We also put signs up at the entrances when it is very windy asking people to please put the carts away.

We also offer a driveup service or carryout out service. Either one is free and we really try to get customers to use this service.

Target has to have the worst parking lots...I just got a $724.00 repair bill because I got my back side panel dinged...not by a cart, but by a car...(they must have been either pulling in or cut it close when driving through...they did a number on my van) in their parking lot and I was parked way far away from the store. Luckily my insurance is only a $200.00 deductable.

Grrr! I hate that too. I also hate the people who don't know how to park in parking lots and put little dents in my doors when they open them!

Grrr. Me too. I get this a lot and my car is black so every little scratch shows.

Why people have to push their doors open with force is beyond me.

Most likely, the person was just plain lazy. More and more I realize that people generally care only about themselves.

As far as not knowing the person's personal circumstances are concerned, that's true. HOWEVER, if the person cannot put the cart away then they should not take it out in the first place. If physical limitations is the problem, for example, I'm sure the store would be more than happy to help take the merchandise to the buyer's car.

Oooo man! This type of thing gets me going. It's one of my big pet peeves as well. I just have to say, what goes around comes around. Sorry this happened to you.

At the grocery store this weekend, I saw a perfectly capable man push his cart to the far end of the parking lot and leave it next to a median. His vehicle was parked halfway between the median and the cart return. For the life of me I couldn't understand why he wouldn't bring it to the cart return. Maybe he thought the other cart left by the median looked lonely.

I would bet that for every 1 person like you described, there are 99 that are more than able to put the cart back.

So I don't think that it's quick to judge the person who left the cart there. Chances are very good that is was one of the other 99.

I think it's very quick to judge the person who left the cart. If you saw me at the store you'd think I was "perfectly capable" of putting the cart back and you would be sadly mistaken. No I'm not handicapped so I don't use those spots, but I do have a disability and taking the cart back is the least of my worries.

You can always park WAY far from the store if you are so worried about your cars.

ahhh...another "returning the cart" debate has begun.

my personal favorite happened last Friday...I pulled into the parking spot NEXT to a corral and had to move a cart out of my way.

6 inches away from the corral...but not IN it...lovely.

And even if you do park "WAY far from the store"...what if it's windy? you're still gonna get hit.

so what if people worry about their cars? some people like driving cars w/o dents in them! (or rather, I like to put my own dents in my car thank you very much)

If its windy I put it back(or if I'm near)....but usually just push to the nearest "island with crosshatches" as there is always a guy collecting them at SuperWallmart and Albertson's

But..........when my car was new I always parked far far away from other cars and buggies.

A few weeks ago I had left it in an empty space in front of my car...this woman parked next to me ...grabbed my buggy (I thought she was going to push it into the store to use)...But, no -0she stode purposely to the corral with a scowl on her face.

If you are able enough to push a cart all around a store, then why aren't you able to push it another 10 feet to a cart corral?

Or YOU could pull your car up to the curb and load from there and that would elimate the cart problems. I get tired of some folks making excuses for their laziness.

Just curious why you wouldn't just walk to a corral and put it away? You only put it away A. if it's windy or B. if you're close.... and close would be??? Right next to your car?? Within say, 10 steps? I just don't see why it's so inconvienient.

I see - so we will make the majority of people go out of there way to avoid YOUR run away cart. Please  ! When you could quite simply take the time to put it back yourself - or God forbid ask someone for help. The least of your worries comments really gets to me - I guess being considerate to individuals around you is the least of your worries.
