Im sure this has been brought up before but I cannot find it. I distinctly remember a thread rating the DVC slides (I cannot find that one either)

Saw this bog post and wondered what everyone's take is on the best DVC resort for strictly pool days.

Rank
  • Best slide
  • Best for little kids
  • Best for big kids
  • Best overall experience
  • Best bang for your points (maybe having access to more than 1 pool is a better value, (AKV, CCV and ?)
  • Worst overall experience

Just commenting on the article - nope. Ol' Man River at POR is our favorite on-site pool outside of BCV. It definitely doesn't belong on a 3 worst list.

Before DVC I was a no pool person. But now I feel like we have some extra time so we can give up some park time to go.
Yeah I've never been a "sit at the pool" guy, and I still really enjoy being in the parks. I'm sure the pools will happen eventually!

I said it on a different thread but SUMMER. I mean generally summer is a nightmare lol but in this case it works to ones benefit cause you have no choice but to spend a chunk of your time by the pool and as someone who also isn’t a lay around type of vacation kind of person, it’s been surprisingly nice. And I know you have an AP so short park days aren’t a waste😌 literally planning a last minute mid July trip cause we want a more relaxing/pool heavy trip since we haven’t had one in a while. Like you know how people say there’s no greater feeling than spending the day at beach, coming back to your cool room in the afternoon taking a shower and a really good nap and then going to a great dinner? Well, I’m learning a Disney summer is that for me except switch beach with DVC pools and dinner with dole whip and some summer evening park time 👌🏼 👌🏼 👌🏼

This isn’t an helpful ranking because we’ve only used the pools at Poly (lava and quiet but not tower), RIV, BWV and VGF.

Best slide: only been on Poly and BWV. I liked both, Poly takes the edge slightly for theming I think.

Best for little kids: don’t have any so can’t be sure. From a kid mentality, I’d probably say Poly again. They now have 3 good pools and 2 splash pads areas and even if the Moana one is a bit boring the main one has always looked amazing, kind of jealous we can’t use it lol

Best for big kids: I mean I’ve not been but it’s gotta be SAB.

Best overall: of the 4 we’ve used, it’s definitely Poly (not during July 4th that was actual people soup and kind of gross) and RIV as our favorites. Poly is definitely going to be busier but I don’t mind general hustle and bustle. RIV is the best adult pool setup IMO mostly cause of how close together everything is and that includes your rooms and a good cup of coffee;) Also we LOVE Bar Riva it’s one of our favorite QS on property and definitely favorite pool bar.

Best bang for your buck: probably BCV? The quiet pool looks decent if that’s what you want, SAB is unmatched for variety and size and the point chart is good 🤷🏼‍♀️

Worst: again, of the 4 we’ve used, BWV was my least favorite but the slide was fun. I find the pool to be in need of a proper refresh and I don’t like the way it’s setup or the pool bar options all that much…boardwalk pizza and corn dogs aren’t too far away though so that’s a slight bonus.

I imagine I wouldn’t like BLT at all either. Very little about BLT appeals to me so I doubt the pool would be any better considering what I’ve seen of it.

So Poly has 3 pools and 2 splash pads. That is pretty great!

Best slide - Gotta be the slide at Stormalong Bay, perhaps based on length alone
Best for little kids - Poly Lava because of the splash pad, splash pad slide, and big slide.
Best for big kids - If by big kids we mean like 10 and up, then Stormalong, because there is so much to do. If you mean adults, then OKW main pool because of the sauna.
Best overall experience - Stormalong. It's like a waterpark day without getting on a bus.
Best bang for your points - Saratoga Springs. You get access to two feature pools, essentially between High Rock and Paddock, plus a low points cost for booking.
Worst overall experience - Maybe Dunes Cove at BCV. No bar service, no adjacent community hall like at the BWV quiet pool.

Yeah I meant 10 and up. Sounds like SAB for the win!

I like that Saratoga has 2 pools.

  • Best slide-VB
  • Best for little kids-SSR
  • Best for big kids-VDH
  • Best overall experience-CCV/BRV
  • Best bang for your points-HHI (beach house and island side)
  • Worst overall experience-none so far! (we have stayed at all DVC except Aulani)

Even more excited to stay at HHI or VB now

Beach Club often wins. It’s hard to beat the shipwreck slide, sand bottom and lazy river.

Poly gets me more excited though. It has 2 great splash pads for young kids. One of the hot tubs look out into 7 Seas Lagoon toward MK and the castle. Volcano Bay is fun. Oasis Pool is salt filter, and more importantly, 24/7 access including that hot tub. I think collectively this resort wins! And it has adult only hot tub too.

I think the Contemporary deserves to be on that "worst" list. I would put OKW's feature pool below High Rock Springs---and for me it is not close. (I am not a sauna person. Maybe that is why?)

I also think BRV/CCV get points for the view from the pool down to Bay Lake.

Salt water pool? Amazing!

I've never been in any of the pools 😮
I guess I can't vote!
#DVCConfessions

Not even VGC?! I dream of renting one of the cabanas someday. We aren't really lounge by the pool people either though. That's why I hesitate to book a cabana. Because our son would probably be bored of the pool after 30 minutes or so. Then I'll just be sitting in the cabana alone.

Aside from BWV, has DVC ever done a pool refurbishment to make it better? Asking for BLT lol

Not sure about this. I think maybe the BRV pool? I remember when I was looking up info before purchasing, I saw pictures of a pool that looks different than the current pool.

I've only been to VGC once, with trips 2 and 3 coming soon, but in general I just don't go to the pools 🤷

ETA: This will make my refusal to shower there an even stronger protest :teeth:
