Tuesday
Conditions - 🌧 Light Rain, Wind 12mph to 18mph
Start: Temp+Dew = 59°F + 43°F; FL - 59°F
End: Temp+Dew = 58°F + 41°F; FL - 59°F
Body feeling good and no aches or pains that I can remember. G and I did our 1.1 miles of 30/30. Steph decided to opt out of this one because she thought that G's attitude towards the running was due to her in some way (it wasn't). The easy fix was just to make sure the run was more on G's terms and less on anything else. So when I let her pick and choose, then things went fine. And not having side aches always makes everyone less grumpy. So post run G and I convinced Steph that she has to continue to join us in our afternoon runs.
It tried to rain on me during my run, but it wasn't enough to bother me. As I'm getting closer to the start of the Canova General Phase, I'm moving up my Tuesday/Wednesday running distances from 45 min to closer to 60 min/7 miles. Which means more of a time commitment on those days with the LIIFT4 workouts still occurring immediately afterwards. My pace was slow and my HR was a little higher than expected. No explanation.
Wednesday
Conditions -
Overcast, Wind 8mph to 13mph
Start: Temp+Dew = 59°F + 57°F; FL - 59°F
End: Temp+Dew = 60°F + 58°F; FL - 59°F
The run felt easy enough. Probably went a bit too fast. I got really lucky with the rain. It was down pouring right up until I walked out the door and restarted a down pour not long after I returned. So chalked this one up as well timed. Nothing stuck out about the run.
The LIIFT4 workout was HIIT Legs again. I can eat up the aerobic running exercises for days (like soccer run, high knees, etc.), but those other types of HIIT especially in plank are just not my forte. Probably means they're good for me. Overall I feel stronger, and do feel like my core is getting stronger as well.
Thursday
Where Wednesday was lucky with the weather, Thursday was not. It was a torrential down pour with lightning which made outdoors running virtually impossible. So I hit up the treadmill. Just set it to 7mph and moved the incline from 2 to 4 as the run progressed.
Friday
Conditions -
Partly Cloudy, Wind 7mph to 12mph
Start: Temp+Dew = 67°F + 54°F; FL - 67°F
End: Temp+Dew = 67°F + 54°F; FL - 67°F
Run was good overall. Got a new pair of Saucony Ride 14s, so I ran in those. Felt nice to have a new pair of shoes. Body still feeling good overall and no concerns.
Saturday
Conditions -
Partly Cloudy, Wind 12mph to 16mph
Start: Temp+Dew = 67°F + 57°F; FL - 67°F
End: Temp+Dew = 69°F + 56°F; FL - 67°F
Did the Brat Fest 5k with G which she recapped earlier (link). Afterwards, we did a little more walking around the festival than I wanted to. But we got some brats, ice cream, and then saw the horse show for a little bit. We drove home, and then I stayed in my workout clothes to finish out my workouts. I decided to go out for a nice and slow 7 miles and then do the LIIFT4-chest/tri. It was reasonably warm out by the time I got to run, but not too bad. I just tried to keep the effort lower. Still not slow enough to be in Canova's regeneration pace goal, but good. Afterwards, I got inside and did the LIIFT4 workout. Didn't finally eat lunch until like 1:30pm.
Sunday
Conditions -
Partly Cloudy, Wind 14mph to 30mph
Start: Temp+Dew = 64°F + 59°F; FL - 64°F
End: Temp+Dew = 67°F + 61°F; FL - 64°F
Just a nice and easy run followed by LIIFT4-Back/Biceps. Nothing really to report. The effort felt easy, and the fitness is in a good place. Next week is the last week before I start doing strides which will then lead into real workouts soon. So this intro phase has served me well thus far.
As a pivot, my mental headspace was not in a good place this week. I've lived a privileged life to this point. My daughter is in second grade. The events of earlier this week really hit me hard. I haven't slept well. I cried more times this week than I probably have in my entire life up to this point combined. I feel like a piece of my soul was taken. This isn't an invitation to talk about what happened, because ultimately I don't want to. Rather just to put it down on paper that mentally this week has been absolutely rough.
