To Christians,

The biggest piece of baggage that has come with my DH is his family not his ex-girlfriends. I think that is pretty universal.

Amen to that!!

You know John and I started dating at 15 and we had both kissed other people before each other......Heck I can still to this day tell you the name of the first person I ever kissed and the first person I actually had feelings for, as can he! But he is the first person I was ever IN LOVE with. The past is the past and as long as you are that persons future what else matters?

Oh and on the Jeff comment, hes also great looking from the pics I've seen

I must ask, what is this "Mac thing"???

:)

Jeff and I have a friendly, ahem, discussion, about the fact that he uses/likes Mac computers (you know the ads, the ones that smile at you from the store front window) and I use/like Windows computers (you know the ads, the one that run businesses and are easy to use).

It's a friendly competition that started a long time ago in late night DIS chat. We get to poke at each other about it every once in a while.

Besides, he's got a pretty cool name too.

I'm assuming that you've never prayed for patience before.

Let's just say that the last time I prayed for more patience I was rewarded with roommates from hell. In my (and many others) experience when you pray for patience God will then test you.

Pax Christi,
Diane

You are 100% correct, you prayed for patience and were given the chance to learn it. Room mates that caused you misery were a test. Did you pass?

It is plain that you are young, and a lot of people have given you good advice. Perhaps you need to look around and see what God has given you. You go to church, you have been to college, you have a whole wonderful life ahead of you. There is a saying, God works in mysterious ways, heed those words. A baptist may show you a different slant on worship, yet it is still worship. Seeking a man who has never had a girlfriend, well, you need to look for a man who lives with his mother, she may have guilted him into staying home and only taking care of her. If he has any inclination of finding a girlfriend, she manipulates him into thinking that he can't. This guy can be a huge mistake. A man who has been in a relationship prior, and then out of it for a year. he may still have feelings for his past girlfriend, he may not. You have to let him get to know you and you have to get to know him.

Sorry for the long post. I do hope you find a soul mate, a man who will be your perfect mate, lover, and friend. But don't sell yourself short with the requirements. If that method worked, the personal ads would never run for more than a day, everyone would get the right match on the first try.

Hi mickeyfan1,

Yes, I learned patience.

"There is a saying, God works in mysterious ways, heed those words. A baptist may show you a different slant on worship, yet it is still worship."

It's not the different style of worship that concerns me, as I was raised Baptist myself, rather, it is the theology that concerns me. If, and that is a very big if, I have children then I would like for them to be raised as armenians and baptised as infants.

Amy, of course you can chime in :) Thanks for your POV.

?????? Armenians? I thought you had refered to yourself as high Anglican? BOy oh boy, I am so confused. I shall consult with my brother on this subject. He is an ordained priest in the Episcopal Church. Perhaps he can shed some light on this interesting subject.

If you learned patience, then pray for guidance in seeing what God wants you to see. And here is some very important advice - Don't confuse religion with faith, they are totally unrelated.

Armenian is a term that comes from a Dutch theologian called Jacobus Armenius. He challenged Jean Calvin's theology. The Catholic Church is very armenian. They key differences in my theology and Baptist theology is that I believe in baptismal regeneration, and that there is no such thing as "eternal security" (i.e. no one can know whether they are going to Heaven or not). I lean strongly towards becoming a high church Anglican, but I am still researching different churches.

I'll leave it to your brother to describe the differences between a "high church" and a "low church". Cardinal Newman and the Oxford Movement should come up in that discussion.

"And here is some very important advice - Don't confuse religion with faith, they are totally unrelated."

And what if the difference between religion and faith?

Pardon me for interjecting, but the spelling is Jacobus Arminius and the teachings are Arminian/Arminianism, not Armenian, which is a whole different thing. This could be the cause of confusion, mine and others apparently.
