We are staying in a BWV 1-bedroom for an upcoming trip, and this is the first time we were able to secure Standard View. From what I’ve read, there seems to be a trade-off – the closer you are to the elevator, the more potential outside noise from cars, luggage carts, trucks, etc. But if you don’t mind a walk to/from the elevator, there is the potential for a decent view (canal) and less noise.

I’ve read about the corner rooms (e.g. 3123), but don’t necessarily need the extra space.

How far down the hall do you have to go to be safely away from the main entrance noise? Midway? Or all the way to the end?

Are the rooms at the end of the hall (facing the canal) the best Standard View rooms? There’s a stairwell down there too, right? Does that make it convenient to parking lot and HS?

What is the best way to make these requests to MS? Should I request “canal view”, or “away from elevators/noise”, or “close to HS”? Just wondering what the best way to approach this is.

Thanks in advance for any advice!

I've stayed in several Std view studios. I think about 1/2 way down the hall upper floor is ideal. You are fairly close to the elevator so you don't have the long walk, being high up 1/2 way down, you can see the high epcot fireworks from your room.

Probably 1/2 way down the hallway is fine for the noise issues. I'd just say not too close to the elevator, or canal view.

I believe 3121 and 3123 are both dedicated 1 bedroom standard views. They are located at end of building closest to canal/bridge that crosses from parking area/guard house area over to circle driveway leading to covered entrance way leading into lobby. We like this location because there is stairway down to a walking path along lawn/canal edge to parking areas and it is convenient to use this walking path to get to bus stops as well. We've found it to be quiet and nice view too ( you will see cars, etc. but it is a bit obstructed because there are some trees, noise is somewhat less because there isn't car doors slamming, etc. like up by lobby entrance where people are typically getting in and out of their cars ). At bottom of stairwell is two doors - one will take you to path just mentioned and other will take you out on the quiet pool/community hall side of villas so we found it very convenient for that as well.

You might do better just requesting "by canal / path" or "villa numbered xx21 or higher" - something like that which is more general - focusing more on the area you'd like then on a specific room number, this usually is better way to get your request met with more success. Villas that are numbered xx17,19,21 or higher will be in this stairway location; villas that are lower xx15,13,11 etc. will place you closer to lobby / main entrance.

Best wishes :goodvibes

We always request upper floor across from bus stop and that puts us in a good location. The 'long' walk to/from the elevator is ridiculously overblown. After walking literally miles per day at the parks, what's a few more steps if it gets you to a room location you enjoy. And being far from the elevator means you're closer to the bus stop, Community Hall, the quiet pool, and the walkway to DHS.

We've only had one request met in our BWV stays - and that was to get rooms next to each other when we had reservations for my family - with "cancer recovery trip" across the reservations. Keep realistic expectations.

Most people seem to like "high floor, far from the elevators" - its your best chance of good fireworks views. However, sometimes trees block the views from down there, there aren't guarentees. I sort of like the third floor, about halfway down - its easy to do a couple flights of stairs (but I don't like doing five flights), you close to the pool, but far enough away from the ME luggage issues.

To me, a big part of the high floor low floor end of hall close to lobby debate has to do with stairs and how much you like to walk. If you are hauling a double stroller, close to the elevators starts looking pretty good.

We were on the 4th floor, std studio (for the first time) 3 doors down from the elevator and didn't hear anything.. I actually enjoyed sitting out on the balcony and people/car watch as people pull up. I didn't even hear anything early in the morning when many people say the beeping of the trucks wake them up. And I'm not a heavy sleeper!

In March, we had the first standard view 2 bedroom from the elevators on the third floor. I was expecting the worst regarding noise, but that never materialized. It was fun to people watch, especially wedding parties and guests prepare for the big events. However, the temps were pretty cool, and none of us (we were 5 adult women) spent much time on the balcony.

For view, I much prefer the longer walk toward the canal, and we've had some lovely sights, however, I also have found that the closer to elevator units have their plusses too!

I really like the ones down at the end of the hall, that face the parking lot/tennis court. Great access to the pathway to the Hollywood Studios, and so close to the quiet pool. :thumbsup2

Just stayed in 4117 (5/3 -5/8), no noise from the main entrance, great view from the balcony of Illuminations. In the mornings had great view of the Eiffel Tower from France, also could see the pagoda from Japan and the spire of the American pavillion. It is however a long walk from the elevators. But a short walk down the steps and across the street from the bus stop.
