Heading to WDW with my family and for the first time we will have a 1 year old. We plan to take his stroller but can anyone recommend a good baby carrier for a 1 year old. We plan to play man to man with 3 adults and 3 kids but I know that the crowds for rides that the 1 year old can ride will be long and strollers aren't allowed in the lines.

We have a Beco baby carrier, and yes, you will want to take it. Our son slept quite often while he was in it, and then we could still ride rides for the hour or two he slept instead of when he falls asleep in the stroller, then someone is stuck sitting out on ALL rides, not just the big ones.

My wife borrowed a carrier from a friend once that she loved a lot better than our Beco. I will ask her and get back with you.

Baby Bjorn makes a great style that can easily be adjusted for each adult that puts it on! We LOVED ours and I would recommend it until I was blue in the face....

I think it was the Air model - the one that has breathable mesh?

GOOOOO BABY Carriers!

My wife said the one she borrowed was a Tula. Though she said it was just better for back carrying and that she likes our for forward carrying because it fit on her better. Baby carriers are so specific to people sometimes you just need to get whats right for you. Maybe try out some carriers from friends?

Unless you want to hold your 1 year old in every line you go in, I would bring a carrier. If you've never used one and don't plan on again see if you can borrow one. Ergo and Boba make good decently priced carriers. I love my Tula and Lillebaby but they are pricier. Carefull though, carriers can be addictive!

YEs, yes, yes! We wore son a lot in our Tula during his first trip. It was Dec. so it wasn't too hot though. I used it in the airport, in line, when he got sleepy, when he got fussy etc.

We recently purchased an ergo for this same reason, I've used it with both my 5 month old and 2 year old, it has been a life saver!

I had an ergo when mine was a baby but by the time mine was around 15 months I switched to a Tula toddler she was a very heavy baby and this gave me more support. My back started hurting with the ergo. At 2.5 I still use my carrier to go for walks and hiking and especially for Disney! There were times when she was 15 months that she refused to go to sleep in the stroller and I could put her in the Tula and she was out!

I would definitely take a carrier. At that age I loved my ring sling (hip carry) or my Mei Tei. Please don't use a Bjorn, as they do not support the baby's legs properly and can hurt their hips.

The Ergo has a back carry limit of 33 lbs and a front carry limit of 27 lbs. I'd look for something with a higher weight limit for a 1 year old. My son is 16 months and outgrew the front carry limit on the Ergo when he was 11 months.

We took our 1yo DD and I did not use a carrier because I was pregnant at the time and it was uncomfortable for me. We did just fine (but had at least 6 adults with us at any given time and could hold her). If I could have used my carrier I would have. We are bringing DS for his first bday and I will have one of my carriers, not sure which one though!

My 2yr old is only 22lbs :rotfl:

Thank you so much for all the help. We will start looking for one soon. I hope this helps eliminate the whining from older brother and sister that they have to wait until baby bro wakes up to do rides with everyone. 79 days to go!!!!

Following! I will have a 1 year old for our trip and wondering the same thing! Most carriers are bulky and don't fold very compact... I don't want another bulky item to have deal with, but also don't want my arms falling off from packing a 20lb 1 year old through the lines

Here's my 19 month old in our Tula. We used it for almost all lines in Sept. We love our Tulas. Very easy to switch between users. Highly recommend one for lines and general carrying

I'm just hoping that our little one hits the 20 pound mark by then. He eats like crazy but seems to burn through the calories crawling after the dog, brother and sister.

I wore my kids at Disney until 3yo - I have Kinderpacks. I would not do Disney without a carrier, it was invaluable in lines!

Maybe this was the older or specific model? I have an Original Ergo I bought when my boys were almost 2 years old. It carries up to 45lbs.

I wore my Ergo as my boys would go in and out of it through much of the day. When I took it off I just shoved it under the stroller. It wasn't a problem to manage.
