To all DVC Members - Preference for ADRs Booking Window

There have been some discussion about the new ADRs booking window of 90 days +10 for onsite guests and 90 days for offsite guests. I was curious to know where DVC members stand on this.

I thought a poll would be interesting. Essentially the poll is to determine whether people prefer the current 90 days or 180 days or neither. In the issue of focusing this poll on the difference between 90 days and 180 days (and neither), I am not adding the option of the +10 days in the poll. I know a few have opinions about whether there should even be a +10 days for onsite guests. But I think this is a separate issue.

Please keep in mind that I understand some would like other options such as 60 days, or 240 days. However, I would like to find out, if given a choice, which would you choose between the two. Otherwise, you can choose Neither.

I voted for 90 days because I like to see the park hours schedule before I make my ADR's.

I voted 90 days. I don't know where I want to eat 6 months in advance, especially with no park hours. As a long time member, I am no longer a compulsive planner.

I too voted for 90 days for I like to in advance what the park hours are going to be but it does not stop me from researching 180 days out so when I have the extra 3 months to finalize where I want to eat.

I voted for 180 because the specials Disney has aren't out typically 180 days in advance(free dining for example). So I am not dealing with the additional crush of 4/3 people type idea. It sounds reasonable to me. I don't remember all this hating on free dining last year, about adr's.

90 days out has worked for us, so if that's the way it will stay, it's fine with me.

90 days is plenty of time and reduces the likelihood of changes to dining reservations. What is most helpful is Disney releasing solid park hours, parades and fireworks information at that point.

I'm all planned by 180 days, so I'd like to be able to make my ressies early. This way I don't have as much time to stress over it.

Voted for 180 because I'm a planner and should get some additional benefit for that............IMO.

These are my reasons. AND I think that the 180-day window with no park hours leads to a lot of double booking, which isn't helpful.

And I say this as a reformed over-planner.

Isn't 90 days the way it was before the way it was before? (i.e., I thought in the late 90s it was 90 days for most, 120 for some - it was kind of all over the map then)

It was 180 days before it changed recently. But it was, I believe, 90 days before it changed to 180 days and before that, I believe it was 60 days. Before that, I'm not quite sure.

So....

(not sure what it was) -> 60 days -> 90 days -> 180 days ->90 days (Currently)

I agree. I like knowing the park schedules before I start making reservations.

OK - so I voted for 180 because I think that we DVC planners had a better shot at getting the Chef Mickey's and Le Cellier ressies that we wanted since most people aren't planners like we are and so most people don't even know they're going to Disney 180 days out. Non DVCers tend to plan their vacation inside the 6 month window giving us the advantage at the 6 month mark. Now we are all (DVC and cash ressies) trying to make ressies at the same time and no longer have an advantage. I just talked to friends over the weekend who could not get Hoop De Doo and Chef Mickey's for the times they wanted nor could they get Le Cellier at all and they called at the 90 day mark. I think that the situation has also worsened with free dining as even more people are dining inside the parks and resorts.

I also voted for 90 days because I like to know the park hours... but that hasn't worked out so well for September.... and it would work better for everyone without free dining, which I hate for gumming up all restaurants leaving absolutely no flexibility in our scheduling late August. (We are DVC with APs and Tables in Wonderland.)

I preferred the 180 day window because there didn't seem to be nearly the ADR availability problem then that there is now at the 90 day window. My guess is that fewer people were willing to plan a full 180 days out, so the ADRs were easier to come by with such a large booking window. Any way you slice it, I hope Disney is able to figure out a way to make getting ADR's at Le Cellier, a Fantasmic dinner package, or dinners at 'Ohana easier/more fair. It really stinks even more if you're going on a short trip because the +10 window might ruin your shot at getting any of the highly sought after ADRs completely.

I don't know what I want to eat for dinner tomorrow let alone 60, 90 or 180 days out!

My preference is the current 90 days to co-ordinate the restaurants we would like to eat at with parks and their schedules.

However, I really would like to see it the way it was years ago when we would make our dinner reservations on the way into the park at stations set up specifically for that purpose.
