Going in Sept, will be doing a water park, thinking of doing TL and the shark reef. Does only one know how much extra this is? Plus I don't swim well and have nevered snorkled is this still on option I should think about?

I was there last April - it doesn't cost anything extra - the water is quite cold compared to the rest of the park because the fish need it that way. I dont really swim but all you do is kind of paddle softly across the surface of the water and the vest they give you to wear kind of helps you float. All my kids did it from 11 years down to 7 years and the only one who had a problem was my 10 year old who HATES cold water and is generally a nervous child to begin with.

Have fun!

This is so much fun! I had never snorkled before and it took me a couple of minutes to get my breathing regulated and tell my body not to panic. LOL I had a great time and had to go again. The water is cold but nothing you can't handle. Beware the water is salt water and if you have any cuts or scrapes you will feel them. Have fun!

As mentioned earlier, the neoprene vest they give you adds a little buoyancy. Additionally, the "training area" where they give you instructions has a sort of stairstep construction so that you can ease out into the water and get a feel for just how well you're floating with the vest.

I am wondering how old the kids need to be to do this? I have 5 and 7 yo kids will they be able to go in the shark reef?

Thanks

when we did this for the first time in 2000 my son was 5 and quite small for his age. He was not a great swimmer, but could tread water and propel himself somewhat. There is not test before you go and as far as i know, no height requirement.

My son had on the vest and the goggles, but couldn't get the hang of the snorkel. DH ended up tucking DS under his armpit and slowly "draging" DS across the reef. DS would hold his breath, stick his face under to see the fish and pop his head back out to grab a breath. He loved it and they went across this way 3 or 4 times.
