Good morning ladies! Lovely overcast day outside.... probably just like some of the rest of you are looking at. DH actually turned the heater on yesterday. Can you believe that? Already here in Texas? Good grief. I hope that doesn't mean we are in for a long cold winter.
LITC, thanks for the reminder that Dec. 5th will be Walt's birthday. That is a nice piece of trivia for
Pikester and I to commiserate over while in the park. We are going to have to work out a plan if we want to keep the Flat TKers in the park all December long! If
Pikester passes them off to me who can I get them to when I leave on the 16th?
M&N? When do you leave?
D&D? Remind me again when and where you arrive! Anybody got a good idea?
I hope you get your chance to have a Joel somewhere down the road.
I know what you mean about being jealous of those with strong faith. My belief in God never really waivers but I wish I had the enthusiasm that I see some others have. As for my DS, only time will tell. All we can do is try to raise him to the best of our ability and instill in him what we believe is important. The real test will be when he is out on his own someday.
Wendy, now don't be trying to give my kids to
LITC!

They are actually my sponsor children. You do have a whole other extended family, don't you? Which organization do you have yours through? Mine are through Children International. I think it would be amazing to see one of them in person someday but I would probably be too chicken to go to some of those countries!
I
had to go to church growing up too. Only in my case it was my dad who did not go. I always thought he was so hypocritical for doing that and it left me bitter. Of course, looking back now I have to wonder how much of that just came from having issues with him to begin with and just being a teenager. I do thank the Lord that my DH and I both attend. At least we are able to provide a united front. It could have very easily not happened that way since we came from different backgrounds. But I believe in divine intervention especially after we found a church we both liked and the preacher became best friends with my DH. Unfortunately, after 12 years some issues came up in the church where he had to leave. It broke our hearts and left us struggling for several years. Things will never be the same but we are managing in a different church.... just not on the same level. I wish we could find a place with a youth group like you had,
Wendy ,where DS loved it but it seems to be an area sorely lacking in the churches in our community.
I love Fiona. She looks great! Red is my favorite color!
Pikester, that was very nice of your DH! I haven't told mine about us meeting yet... although he has heard plenty about my friends online. They said this, they said that. I imagine he thinks I am a nut by now! Anyway, he and DS may bow out of our meeting but I am very sure my DD will be in tow for the event. She is like my little shadow and not likely to let me get away by myself. You will like her though. She's pretty cute. Be warned though, she is gonna talk your ear off. She never meets a stranger!
Sounds like another TKer with bad church experiences growing up. I hope someday you take your Nana up on going again. I know it is hard to get started but after you get going again it gets easier. You can, of course, teach your kids the things they need at home, though sometimes having a church to call your own can be a good thing.
MagiKitty, glad you are back home and getting settled back in. Glad the family in the Phils are all okay. Trip Report! YES! YES! YES! That will give you something to do so you don't have to suffer withdrawals. Of course, the fake trip planning could work some too. You never know... it might just turn into reality.
Sukie, that is one cool looking cat! Looks like she thinks she owns the place.... as most cats do.
What a horrible story! Truly hard to imagine how anyone human could be so cruel.
What sort of hunting does your DH do? Nice of him to relinquish the computer to you!
SCHBR'smom, I saw you posting over on the homeschool thread. I have just been lurking but I do need to drop in and put in my 2 cents one of these days.
Shmu, welcome back! Sounds like you had a whirlwind trip. I enjoyed your castle video tour. You have a lovely family. Can't wait for some pictures!
Gotta dig up my ornament. I should be able to do that before November 8!
pepperw23, congratulations on getting a lot of your writing done!
Ev, Happy Thanksgiving to you too!
D&D, my DD lost her 2 front teeth while we were in
Disneyland last year. Made all of our pics so cute! I am not so sure she would agree.
Why do husbands get such pleasure out of annoying their poor wives? Every time I go to the bathroom and my DH is around he loves to stop at the door and ask "Are you busy in there?" He gets such a kick out of it! Another of his stunts to annoy me is to make the dog bark at him when he comes to the door. Wouldn't be a big deal but the acoustics in our house magnify the bark of the dog and it is LOUD. Hurts my ears! And if she just happens to go off when she is behind you it really scares the crap out of you! No matter how many times I ask him to knock it off he still thinks it is hilarious! Do any of you have stupid husbands, other family members, or friends like mine who take a perverse pleasure in torturing you?
Hi
JOCAmom,
Bopsmom and anyone else I missed!
