TKers Take the Fifth!

Good morning! I did hope it was all a delusion last night, but yup, the snow is still there. Incredible! I'm also worried because we didn't get THAT much, yet we lost DirecTv for about 4 hours. 4 HOURS! I called them and tried to figure out what we can do....after all, its the first snowfall. Will I have to deal with this for the next five months? What am I paying for?

Apparently, absolutely nothing. My satellite dishes are on the roof, I can't get to them. I was told that there are dish heaters and dish protectors out there, although DirecTv doesn't sell them. And its at my own cost if I buy them and have them installed. So I asked if I could get someone out here to possibly see if I could have myh dishes moved to a more convenient location so I can get the snow off it myself. I was told they were put there for "line of site" issues. Well, what good is that when I'm not getting any signal at all?

argh...I'm so frustrated.

While I'm sure I have spiders in my house somewhere, I choose not to see them. Spiders really scare me.

LITC...good luck from me too! I'm sure they understand your new Mommy situation. And you're an asset to their company! I hope you can work out a compromsise for everyone. How's Walter doing?

Marie, congrats on the optometrist! May I ask when you had your surgery done? I had mine done five years ago and it was possibly the best thing I've done. I think I may have lost some visual sharpness over the years, but then again I'm paranoid about my vision. I'd like to remain glasses-free for as long as possible. I wore glasses for nearly 20 years before the surgery and I'm not looking forward to getting them again....my glasses would fog all the time!

My godchilldren are in Disney this week. Its their first visit. I spoke to them last night. They're so happy! I'm so happy for them! We tried to schedule our vacations for the same time, but it just didn't work out. Maybe next time...

Happy Friday everyone! I have to attend a baptism tomorrow for my cousin's baby, I have to get a card and wrap up her gifts. I'm so excited to play with a baby! Keep warm and safe everyone!

hey, where's M&N been? Is she away again?

Feeling a little better today. I need to get a burst of energy to start baking for our church fundraiser this weekend. I feel like I can get up and do stuff and then I do and feel like I need to lay down again. Really stinks! Hope the kids don't get this.

Kitty - That so stinks about your DirectTV. Tell them you're going to start deducting for each hour it is down. What are you paying for???
Not sure if you mentioned it and I missed it, but I have been dying to know how MNSSHP was and your first Trick or Treat experience???? Did you get a ton of candy or what???

Marie - Congrats to you on getting the eye surgery done and the good optometrist visit. I've had bad eyes (far vision) since 6th grade and have worn contacts. Just too chicken to get the surgery done. So worried I'd be the one with complications. Now, if my close vision goes, I might as well just get a dog and cane.

DL55 - I'm with Kitty on the pet pills. I usually buy some liver sausage and put my dog's pills in a ball of it. A few times I had to redo it cuz she spit it out but 9 out of 10 times it has worked. :thumbsup2 Good luck!

LITC - I sure hope you can work out your hours at work. Sending lots of pixie dust your way. pixiedust:

Wow, not much going on around here. OR maybe everyone is out doing the really big stuff today! I hope everyone who has been sick is feeling better today. And, I hope some of you got your tv reception back.

Kitty, I am so bad at keeping track of things! I can't remember when I had the laser surgery but going by DH's excellent memory it must have been at least 9 years ago. I have to agree that it was one of the best things I ever did too. I cannot stand wearing glasses and keeping up with contacts is just a pain. The only down side is that as you get older your eyes will most likely change so it will probably not last indefinitely. The optometrist told me that a good average was about 12 years. That is still pretty good. Getting closer for me but you should be good for a long time!

I am having a peaceful day at home. Earlier I was pondering and reading about the effects that menopause is having on me. Nice to know there is a definitive reason my body and brain are doing the things they are doing now. One question that I have not found the answer to so far... when I finally get through menopause will I get to remember all the things I forgot while I was going through it? :confused3
I gave myself a new hair color today. This month I am a light golden brown. Doesn't look much different than the ash brown. Now I just need to convince myself to go get a new cut. I hate going to the beauty shop!
DH surprised me yesterday. My friend and I were talking about maybe going to see the Michael Jackson movie but didn't imagine it would actually come to our little podunk theater. Lo and behold it IS actually going to be here. I told my DH he would probably think we were crazy for wanting to go but his response was that he would take me because he wouldn't mind seeing it too. Even bigger surprise was when my DS gave it a little thought and changed his mind and decided he would like to go too. So looks like I've got a date one of the days after the 27th.
I am fixing to send my final payment for the house we will be staying at on our trip. So looks like that will have everything covered. Now all we gotta do is sit back and wait for the 45 days to pass by.

I am fixing to send my final payment for the house we will be staying at on our trip.
:rotfl2: Why...was it broken???:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:
Congrats on the final payment. I too wish these days would go by faster!!!

Finally feeling human again. Just waiting for the rest of the family to get whatever it was that I had. The weather was SUPPOSED to be nice today. Sunny and 50s. More like Cloudy, cold and low 40s. Sheesh!
Thanks to my DH for doing all the yard work today! What a guy!

Happy Sweetest Day All!!! Hope you are spending it with your sweetie! Nothing fancy planned here. Looks like we'll spend another quiet night playing family game by the fireplace. Just fine for me!

Good evening!

It was a very nice day here today. Sunny with a slight breeze and temps in the upper 40s. It was a little cool in the shade but the sun was very warm.

Went shopping with Sukie. She's got half of her Christmas shopping done but I was only able to find a couple of things. We will be getting a Wii for the family so that takes care of the big gift. Now all I need is a few smaller gifts.

This weekend is barely over and I'm already thinking about next weekend. Thursday is Sukie's birthday and I will be having cake and ice cream here at my house. Birthdays are always cause for celebration but this year there will be a small dark cloud over the gathering because Beana will not be there. Since her passing in early August we haven't had an event that she would have attended so we haven't yet had to deal with her not being there. Please send out those hugs for my Mom.

I can't believe how slow it was on the DIS here today.

marie, I can't believe how fast the days are going by. I was just telling DH that I wished I had some plans to make for Disney so I could post on my TR. He told me to tell everyone that we got a TomTom and downloaded the Mousesavers Points of Interest for Disney Properties. :goodvibes

D&D, So glad to hear that you are feeling better. Over the last couple of days I've developed a cough. It's like a little tickle at the back of my throat and is very annoying when you are trying to fall asleep.

Magikitty, I believe M&N is away until next week. I remember she was going to be gone longer then a week but I don't remember the exact dates.

Those darn Flat Tkers have been doing nothing but laying around since they got here!

Marie I am so glad someone else says "fixin'" it is a term I am VERY familiar with. To me it means....kinda sorta, getting ready to, in the mind to, but have not quite yet done it....:lmao: That is my life.:confused3

OK guys, I need a moral compass I didn't want to post this on FB because too many people see it, other than ya'll.
Here is my dilemma,

I found out years ago that my Ex lives in the same county.
We run in similar circles. I knows he's asked a lot a people about me and keeps tabs and many of my friends in the neighborhood are his FB friends (thus not putting this on FB).

Here is some background.....
My Ex cheated on me in our 2nd year of marriage-I had dated him for 3 years before we married, I broke up with him to finish my degree, he moved to another country, he begged me to come back, marry him and move to the Islands and I did.
During our marriage we were extremely happy. We had so many plans.
His mother hated me, she was jealous-strange relationship there. She actually brought another woman to visit when she came to see us.
His mother set them up, she threw them together and, basically she told him that she thought the other woman was a better choice for her son. While I know that it's his fault too, the girl knew he was married and she did this anyways. His mom helped her rent a condo on the island so they could meet for goodness sake. Anyway, he followed his mom's advice and we got a divorce. It broke my heart and changed me forever.

I can honestlysay that everything that has happened to me since has been wonderful.
I have a terrific DH that I wouldn't trade for the world(most days) and a beautiful DD and home. I really think God gave me a great trade-in.

So here is the situation:
Today, a friend who knows about me emailed me and told me to look up his wife's FB. I check it out and find her posts are all about him cheating on her (they have a son that is freshman in HS), what a ******* he is and how she thinks his mom has something to do with it, she is devastated.

So, I don't think I am a terrible person and I hate to say this but, I am actually a little smug that this happened.
She devastated my life 20 years ago. I don't know why I should/would but, I can't help but be just a tiny bit happy that this happened even when it has no effect on me now?:confused3
I always said, "If they'll do it with you, they'll do it to you".
Just throwing this out for ya'll.

Tell me what you think-am I a terrible person for getting a tiny bit of enjoyment from this situation?

:rotfl2: Why...was it broken???:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:
Well! I declare! My DH told me that some people would poke fun at my Texas talk.

Should have known there would be a smarty pants around here!
bf-cowboysmiley.gif
Thanks for backing me up there Bopsmom! That is exactly what it means! ( Seriously, D&D, I am glad you are feeling better!)

Pikester, Yay for getting some of your shopping done. I think I got at least half of mine done this morning too. So sorry that you will be missing your Beana this year.
Congrats on the new electronic toy. That should come in handy getting around at WDW. Wonder if they have any good maps for iPhones?
Those flat Tkers are probably fixin to get their lazy selves moving at any minute!

Bopsmom, why hell no! You are not a bad person for getting a little satisfaction from the situation. As a matter of fact, I would say at the very least it would probably be a normal reaction. Just goes to prove that there is a lot truth to the old saying what goes around comes around. I hope his dear old mom is quite proud of the man she helped raise him to be!

Those darn Flat Tkers have been doing nothing but laying around since they got here!

:lmao::rotfl2: Geeez, some people!!

OK guys, I need a moral compass I didn't want to post this on FB because too many people see it, other than ya'll.
Here is my dilemma,

1. NO you are not a terrible person! You are a human being!
2. I can TOTALLY relate, having had my ex cheat on me (which is why he is the ex...) He also cheated on wife #1, and I'd bet my right arm he's cheated (or cheating) on wife #3. You know my story with him on FB--I had to block him from seeing my page or anything about me anywhere!
3. Sound like your ex's wife is getting a taste of her own medicine.

I did my Christmas stocking shopping yesterday and today--undies, socks, gloves, toothbrush and paste, mini shampoo, comb, hair stuff, etc. DS has an obsession with Febreeze, and I found a little mini can of it for him!:rotfl: I will get the Christmas M&Ms in December, but I'm trying to get as much done ahead as possible. I NEVER go to the mall between Thanksgiving and New Years, and I try to avoid WalMart and Target then too. I went to a Longaberger open house this morning and got the 2 teacher gifts I needed, along with a little something for the cleaning lady and my massage girl. I already ordered VISA gift cards for BFF's kids, and I've gotten the big gifts and the santa gifts for my kids, so all I need is one smaller gift for each. I'm getting Beatles Monopoly for DS, but no ideas yet for DD.

This afternoon I went to a birthday party for my cousin's twins. They are a year old and they are SOOOO cute! And HUGE! I could barely lift the "little" girl. They are way bigger at one than my kids were at 2 or even 2 1/2!! I did end up getting them the Robeez shoes that lighttech recommended. Hope they fit those big ol' feet of theirs!

The feral cats in our yard are really getting out of hand. They are harrassing the poor dog endlessly. He's even jumped the electric fence to get to them. last night he got out, and when I called him, I could hear him crying. Went looking and found him caught on the neighbor's chain link fence by his collar! Poor baby was stuck out in the pouring rain. DS had to come help me rescue him, and I put him right in a nice warm bath--he was FILTHY. (the dog, not DS!!) So now the dog can only go out when he's on a leash with one of us. DS took him for a walk this AM, and I did it this afternoon. Tonite we will just take him out in the yard, since it's cold, dark and rainy. I wish there was something we could do about the damn cats but there isn't. (at least nothing that wont' land me in jail on charges of animal cruelty!) I guess I just have to wait for them to freeze to death over the winter. Sad.

I ended up having to go pick up the kids from their father's again tonite. He wanted to watch the Yankees, so bringing them home at a decent hour wasn't convenient. Sometimes I really almost hate him--and I don't hate ANYBODY!

Well, I'm fixin' to go put on my jammies...:rotfl2:

Well! I declare! My DH told me that some people would poke fun at my Texas talk.

Awww heck... I poke fun at my DSIL (who lives in Austin) all the time. And she gives it back to me - dar hey! Its a form of flattery don't ya know. :lovestruc All in good fun. ;)
Just one questions though... What if you're "fixin" to fix something? :lmao:

Marie, does this sound right to you??? I want to give them a consensus

The question is..
Are you going to fix it, repair it or just do something about it?

Repair it means to make it like new- then it's ---'I'm fixin' to take care of .........'

To Fix means to make a temporary repair...
If something is broken and you can't repair it right now.... 'I'm fixin' to fix......'

To do something sometime in the future.... 'I'm fixin' to....'

Just so you know that's how we roll:goodvibes....

DD says it's like " I'm gonna" or "I gotta" in Northern dialect

I know ya'll are playin' with us....:-)

Thank you all for letting me know that I am not a terrible person. :goodvibes
I know I usually have compassion for others, and actually I do feel bad for his now new ex. It hurts, you feel a loss.
I guess I just got a little satisfaction knowing she knows how bad she made me feel all those years ago.
I didn't have kids with him so, at least I am not tied that way.
I applaud you guys that still have to deal with an Ex and kids and how civil you have managed to make it. You are awesome to be able to do it.

I don't understand youz guys. :confused::lmao:
I'm gonna get me another drink. :drinking1

Bopsmom, I don't know you very well but I would never think of you as a terrible person for feeling that way. Dealing with ex's can be a strange thing. I have to deal with my husband's ex because they share a child together. She would love to get back with him even though she broke up their relationship by cheating on him. He figures his best revenge is living a wonderful and happy life. As for me, I am somewhat smug when I look at her life compared to ours. I can't help it.

Well ladies, while I was fixin supper I remembered one time when we were at Disneyland. DD was in the process of getting a photo and autograph with Ariel while she was busy plying her with all her jibber jabbering. She cracked Ariel up with her fixin too so I reckon ya'll are not the only ones to get a real kick out of the way we talk. Bopsmom, I do believe you have covered the many different ways that fixin can be used!
Speaking of talk... have any of you ever tried speaking whale while playing go fish. Gotta tell you it realy spices up the game! We just got through playing and they kicked my butt! :sad1:

Wendy, you are really getting that shopping done! I am impressed! Sad about the poor doggie who can't even hang out in his own backyard in peace. Any chance you can you trap the strays and relocate them?

Awww, D&D , I feel special that you would poke fun at me! If you are fixin to fix something you just might get around to it... eventually. In my case, sometimes not! :rotfl:

Thank you all for letting me know that I am not a terrible person. :goodvibes

Those darn feelings where exs are concerned can be sometimes downright complicated! I am like you.... lucky that I do not have children that kept me tied to them AND greatful that my hubby now is amazing in comparison! Amen on the praise for those of you who still have to put up with your exs for the sake of the kids. :worship:

JOCAmom, it is nice of you to provide your DH with a wonderful and happy life. I bet he owes it all to you! :thumbsup2

I am fixin to go to beddy bye myself! Night all!

Good morning ladies! Nice to see some chit-chat yesterday...its been slow around here lately. We were supposed to get more snow last night--they were even using the term "n'oreaster" which is never good, but thankfully we didn't get any precipitation. It wasn't even that cold.

LITC....I know its a little early, but do you think Walter would be interested in an older woman when he grows up?
DSCN1320.jpg

Its my niece Alicia! She's four months old and was baptized yesterday. She's a great baby! Not fussy at all, big toothy grin and so well behaved. Didn't even cry when we poured water all over her head! She can hold her head up already and can flip onto her belly. She's a genius and she has my hair!

Bopsmom...you are not a bad person at all for feeling a little smug re: Ex. I just feel bad for the boy in high school. I agree with you: if he'll do it with you, he'll do it to you. Aside from it being very hurtful, its about character. He didn't respect you enough to discuss whatever feelings he was having for another woman and chose to destroy your trust. I can't believe his Momma helping him out! Now that's really creepy...here son, forget about those marriage vows and go get with another woman! Strange!

Wendy, congrats on being so on top of the holiday shopping! I too have most of the little stuff out of the way, just have to rack my brain for the parents. They're always the hardest. BF and I said the trip was our gifts to each other, but our birthdays are coming up too, so I will probably get something for him. I've been hinting heavily that I want a netbook, but he's so thick or he's ignoring me...

Poor little Duke! Its hard defending your territory!

Also, good you didnt let the kids stay for the Yankees game! We drove by the stadium last night about 7:45 and it was insane! Lots of police presence and lots of people still going in at that time. And the game lasted until after one!

Marie, I have the Mousesavers POI on my GPS and it was really good! The only complaint I have is we were looking for a gas station from AKL and the POI only told us about gas stations on property. Well, I tried the regular search and there was one just down the road offsite. Other than that, it was really cool to have. I changed my Avatar to the Black Pearl while we were down there.

And congrats on settling the house payment! Just so excited for your trip!

Yeah D&D's feeling better!

COngrats on your shopping too Sukie and Pikester! Advanced Happy Birthday Sukie! I know it will be difficult to have a family celebration without Beana. Just know she is always with you and is still a part of your life.

I want to see the Michael Jackson movie too! Truly, I am a fan. There are so many performers I haven't seen, mostly because concert costs are outrageous! Its sad that I'll never get to see him. He was truly a performer.

D&D...I saw you asked about MNSSHP! I'll give you my mini-report. I'm waiting for my Photopass pics, but I think since we're not planning on doing Disney next year, I may prolong the good vibes by working on a trip report in a few weeks.

Ok, reading up on MNSSHP, I couldn't beleive some people were planning on attending two, maybe three, parties in one week. I mean, with a ticket, you can get into a park at 4pm, and have a good 8 hours of MK fun! Now, after doing it ourselves, I completely understand. Its tough to get everything done during a party. You really need to prioritize and plan.

BF and I had a planned a relaxing morning for our MNSSHP day. We had a late 11am brekkie scheduled at Kona cafe, which was delish. BF had blueberry pancakes and I had the big Kahuna. Yum! The juice was lovely and I got some coffee, always very good. While there, I went to conceige to have my MNSSHP tix printed. I had my email confirmation and they were able to give me my tickets. No need to go to Will Call.

After brunch, we had to go to Universal Studios to pick up our BMG tickets. I left BF in the car while I "ran" to the box office to get the tix. Boy, that was far! Overall, it took me about an hour to do.

Since we were out that way anyway (:thumbsup2), BF and I ran to the outlets for a few hours. Entirely too hot to shop, we just walked around the outlets for a while. Did find some good stuff for him at the Gap outlet, which is always better than my local Gap outlet here.

After the outlets, we headed back to AllSports. I can't call is AsSports--I just see A*S*S*ports and I just can't do it. We had to change into our matching Halloween shirts and pick up our Trick or Treat bags. I was so excited for my first Trick or Treating!
DSCN1200.jpg

We got to Mk a little after four. No long lines and we got our wristbands. Took a quick pic outside with all the Halloween decor. Our first priority: Hall of Presidents. We hadn't seen it yet and was excited to see the new refurbs. They did a really good job. You can tell its new and its rather regal and dignified in there.
DSCN1264.jpg

After HOP, we went to get a quickie dinner at Columbia House. It was closing as we got there...why do they close this at 5pm? Its so good. BF and I shared the tuna sandwich meal, more than enough for both of us, yet leaving enough room to snack all night!

From Columbia House, we headed to Fantasyland. It was after five at this point, and we were able to walk on to IASM, Peter Pan, and Winnie the Pooh. BF even convinced me to go on Dumbo.
DSCN1186.jpg

I haven't been on Dumbo since I was three years old...with my Dad. While we were riding, BF said now I had ridden Dumbo with two men I love! :lovestruc
DSCN1204.jpg

After Dumbo, it was nearly 7. We decided to go get on line for pictures with Snow White and her 7 boyfriends. The line was pretty long, but we were early enough to be one of the first few. BF was pretty annoyed with wasting party time for a picture, but I explained to him that this was a party exclusive and we WERE going to do it.
DSCN1206.jpg

We then headed over to ToonTown. Since they'll be taking it apart next year, we decided to pay homage to it. We looked in Mickey and Minnies houses and then went down the Alice in Wonderful trick or treat paths.
DSCN1209.jpg

I think is was early in the party, because they were pretty stingy in candy department. BF had naver read the books or watched the movies (blasphemy in my opinion) so I explained everything to him as we walked down the path:
DSCN1211.jpg
DSCN1215.jpg
DSCN1258.jpg

The trail ends in Tomorrowland. We stopped by the Stitch dance party then went to ride Buzz Lightyear and do Stich's great escape. Carousel of Progress is BF's all-time favorite and is a must. After that, it was time to find a spot for Hallowishes. I didn't really know how they could improve Wishes, but they did somehow! It was wonderful, the colors, the villains. I guess the party wasn't too crowded, because we found a great spot on the hub.

After the fireworks, we headed back over to Fantasyland since I wanted to see:
DSCN1222.jpg
DSCN1221.jpg

The Queen of Hearts and the Tweedles were great. Totally in character and just made meeting them so much fun.

We headed over to Adventureland in search of candy. We did find some candy paths, but they still were giving only a piece or two at a time. Considering that BF was eating them as soon as he got them, his bag wasn't getting anywhere.

We also decided to ride Aladdin's carpet ride, something we had never done. There was no line there, and the CM was really wonderful and patient with getting us both into that little carpet!
DSCN1226-Copy.jpg

Cut through to Frontierland and headed up to the Haunted Mansion. I had read about the "special" pictures, so we stood in line for both of those. We then rode Haunted Mansion, but since we're handicapped, we enter through the exit and missed all the special effects. We really didn't notice anything different than from every other time we've been there. But it was fun.

Went back to Frontierland to find a place for the second parade. Ended up near the Diamond Saloon and found Woody and Jessie in there. (no pics yet!)

The parade was wonderful! So cute and so clever....
DSCN1233.jpg
DSCN1241.jpg
DSCN1230.jpg

By parade's end, it was nearly 11pm. Enough time to go back and ride some more and search out more candy and photopass pics! We didn't even have time to go to the Villians Meet and Greet. We ended up with (what I thought) was a pretty good stash of candy and to enjoy Halloween the Disney way!
