Hey Wendy:

Glad to hear Dad is good...sounds like a LONG day. Have a good sleep.

Wendy, glad to hear Dad's doing so well and is expected home tomorrow. And congrats on both kids being home, although the ride home was terrible. We did have crazy weather up here today---monsoon is appropriate!

Ev, good luck getting the mystery susbstance out of DD's hair!

The best part for a non-parent like me about back to school is the September fashion issues! I'm reading the big fat issue of Bazaar, about how 80's fashion is back. Goody! I enjoyed it the first time around. Huge shoulders and mini-skirts work great for me! Makes the middle look smaller...and I'll take anything that makes my equator look not so pudgy! :lmao:

Oh god...not shoulder pads again!!

Oh yes, Ev, they're back and they're pointy too! Yeah!

Hi Wendy! Glad to hear that Dad is on his way to coming home. Go to bed and get some sleep. I'm sure the kids are as tired as you are so they should be snug in their beds too. What did DS think about his room?

Ev: Sounds like a stash to me! How come kids never know anything when you want them too? They seem to know everything all the other times you talk with them.

Magikitty: I took DS11 to Olympia Sports to get some new sneakers and I saw shoes there that kids wore back in the 80's. Lots of hi-tops with fluorescent colors on them. Totally weird! Like gag me with a spoon!

Nope 80s were not my favourite decade...clothes sucked and so did the hair...music was OK...liked the 70s much better.

I am so an 80s baby. Love the music, the outrageous fashion, stupid fads. With John Hughes dying recently, I just watched Pretty in Pink on AMC....its considered a classic?!

I do love Disco though....even named a cat after it!

Was it Pretty in Pink or Sixteen Candles that had the chinese exchange student in it...I loved that character.

that was Sixteen Candles.

Pretty in Pink had Ducky (Jon Cryer)

I'm out too....been ignoring BF too long! Sweet dreams Ladies....see ya tomorrow!

Have a safe trip DL551 Have a great cruise!

So where is everyone tonight? :confused3

I was out with hubby lovely french food and wine.....17th anniversary today.:yay:
catching up on all the goings on here.

Happy Friday ya'll!!!:goodvibes

Good evening ladies. Finally a chance to see what everyone has been up to. What do you bet I get interrupted at least a time or two? I'm gonna go ahead and give it my best shot anyway even though most everyone has probably already called it a night. Soooo, looking back over the last few pages.....

SCHBR'smom, I haven't got started playing Mafia Wars yet but when I do I will be sure to see if you still want to adopt me into "the family".
Today I got off on Farmtown and stayed way longer than I should have so I am not sure I need another way to waste time when I should be doing something else. Trouble was that I found out how to actually make some money so it was really hard to stop. Too bad you can't make money in real life like I did there this morning. In about 10 minutes I made $60,000 harvesting pineapples.
I would like to think that if you have been in Texas since you were 4 that you would qualify as a native. I have been here all my life so I am an old timer.

I can't remember if I knew that you homeschooled. My memory stinks. Anyway, we do too. My son will be graduating this year and DD is in 3rd grade. It will be so nice to be done with one but I sure didn't plan well in waiting to start one 10 years later. I am going to be so old and gray by the time I get her through! I may be gray early anyway. She is my challenging child. Thank heavens for Loreal! I am in awe :worship: of you being able to teach at home with 4 but I guess you are used to having 4 all the time so it's probably no sweat, right?

MagiKitty, I should sign up to play Scrabble with you. I can do that! But I am like you in that I ain't too good at some of the others. I play Bejeweled ALOT because it is simple and doesn't require too much thinking! They need to add a Millionaire game on Facebook. You could blow us all away on there! Great job reaching your goal!
Did you say something about going to the La Nouba show? If you haven't got your tickets yet I heard about a discount. JLMK.
I never get to eat any Ben and Jerrys cause I am always on some
angry-smiley-8020.gif
diet so have an extra bowlful for me. Is it any wonder I turn into a dessert fiend when I hit a Disney park?
Aaaaugh! Kitty, you have just thrown me into a deep depression! I don't even want to be reminded that Christmas is that close! Last time we went to DL in December I swore I would never do it again because the holidays just came and went too fast. But hear I am again with a trip planned in December. Couldn't resist the holiday season in the park! So now I gotta figure out how I am gonna get in a trip, decorate, shop, wrap and then pay for it all and not come out wondering what happened and where December went!
I wasn't in style in the 80s so I will probably be out of luck now too. Just give me a t-shirt and some comfy jeans. That's about as fashionable as I am gonna get. I have a pudgy equator too.

D&DDisney, we have the Lego invasion all over the floor at my place too. Darn those corners are sharp!
Sorry you were feeling so sad yesterday about your dad. I was never particularly close to mine but even 8 years later I still get a tear in my eye when I think of him. Thinking about my mom leaves me totally wrecked for the day. I lost her 9 years ago. I am an orphan and my children have no grandparents.

disney54us, I really did not want to sound condescending when I was telling you about right clicking with your mouse. Did you ever figure it out with the help of M&N's instruction? If not I will go into more detail. I am truly computer challenged myself but get so tickled when I learn something. I get even more pleasure when I can tell my DH how to do something on the computer but that only happens once in a blue moon.

whgrn, glad you all had your computers to help keep you busy while you waited on your dad. So very glad to hear that your dad's surgery went well. He sounds like he is doing fantastic!
Glad you were able to finally make it home. That traffic sounds crazy!

DL55, Have a great trip!!! Hope you have enough room for some good souvenirs!

BKMETV, aaah another Scrabble opponent. Perhaps we can start a TKer tournament some day.
I didn't know they had tornados all the way up there!

M&N,
Oops-Happy-Belated-Birthday.jpg

I know exactly how you feel about your dad. My dad died young at 42. When I turned 42 it was just so bizarre to think that he had died at the same age. Now it makes me really sad to think that he never made to the age I am at now. Gotta add that I qualify as one of your "clunkers".
So how was the Time Travelers Wife?

Pikester it sounds like you and your family did indeed have a wonderful trip. That is such a great idea to enjoy some of the things close to home. We never do that. Seems like it has to be half way across the country for us to think about going to see anything.
Kids do say the darndest things! Your DS would fit right in with my DD. She is sitting next to me taking close up camera shots of her mouth. Lord knows why.... just what popped into her head.
Now you are cracking me up with the boogers comment! Only a mother....

LITC, good for you sticking to your guns and ignoring the person contacting you on Facebook. I have a couple I have accepted that I should have just ignored too but one is my sister in law and the other is her DD so I guess I felt like I had to accept. Nothing specifically about them I don't like. I just don't keep in contact with them much so don't really care for them seeing what I might decide to post. Anyway, at least you know that you don't care to talk to said person so really what would be the point of accepting them?

Bopsmom, too bad you will just miss us at WDW. Guess we all need to plan better next time.
Happy anniversary. 17 years is pretty good!

Sukie, it is a lot of work wrapping things up after a loved on passes. I had to go through the same stuff when my mom died. It took quite a while for me to stop receiving mail and even now every now and then something will still show up. I hope you are able to get the important stuff out of the way without too much stress.

Well, that wasn't so bad.... I kept a tally... only 5 interruptions! So now I can post... 2-1/2 hours later!

Even though you posted the Belated Birthday for M&N my Mom (Sukie) is going to love that Siamese kitty.

I hear everyone about the Legos! Both my kids have legos all over the floor of their bedrooms. I am constantly nagging at them to pick them up but they are always in the middle of building something so they can't.

Well, I'm off to the Apple Pie Crafts fair and Library Book Festival. Have a good day ladies!

Morning Ladies:

BKMETV, aaah another Scrabble opponent. Perhaps we can start a TKer tournament some day.
I didn't know they had tornados all the way up there!

If you ever want to play let me know...we play the wordscrapper version, which is one of the original games on FB. So what's the difference between Farmville and FarmTown??
You're right about the Tornadoes, we've only had 2 bigger ones in the past 30 years...when we do get them maybe one a summer, they touch down take out a barn or roof and are gone...on Wed a 6 year old was killed because it demolished a gazebo he was standing in.
Long Duck Dong! :lmao:

Oh you're good...I knew it had Dong in it but wouldn't have remember the rest. Have fun at the fair & festival.

I'm looking forward to a quiet day of nothingness...only thing on the agenda is DD has an appointment with the pediatric dentist at 2. She has some weird stuff happening with her adult teeth according to the x-ray, so we want to sort it out.

Happy Anniversary!!!

Like Ev, enjoying a quiet day at home doing yardwork. May head out to eat later. Quite a few festivals or eating extravaganzas going on across the city. Can't miss out on that! :thumbsup2

Enjoy your Saturday TKers!

Hello Tkers!

I am so excited! I was able to get 15 paperback books at the book sale I went to today for $3!:woohoo: I love reading the romance books and they usually run about $3.89 ea at Walmart.

DH is installing my new microwave! Found one that we liked and was in stock at Best Buy. Had to drive about 45 minutes to a bigger city to get it. I am so glad that is done! I actually had to cook on the stove this week! I never realized how much food we use the microwave for.

Not much else is going on here right now.

I'll stop by later and see if anyone else has stopped by.
