I got this email today...

CASH FOR CLUNKERS.....IF MY BODY WERE A CAR...

If my body were a car, this is the time I would be thinking about trading it in for a newer model.

I've got bumps and dents and scratches in my finish, and my paint job is getting a little dull.

But that's not the worst of it.

My headlights are out of focus, and it's especially hard to see things up close.

My traction is not as graceful as it once was.

I slip and slide and skid and bump into things even in the best of weather.

My whitewalls are stained with varicose veins.

It takes me hours to reach my maximum speed. My fuel rate burns inefficiently.

But here's the worst of it --

Almost every time I sneeze, cough or laugh, either my radiator leaks or my
exhaust backfires.

CASH FOR CLUNKERS..........I QUALIFY - How about You?

Bopsmom, I'm in Central Texas, near Austin. I guess I'm an import, military brat. But, I've been in Texas since I was 4, Wichita Falls, and I've been in Central Texas since I graduated in 1996. DH's family are native Texans, but he was born in Vegas, also, a military brat. We met in hs and came to central Texas together.

Love the Cash for Clunkers email!

The cardiologist just came in. Dad came through the cath fine and the stent is in place. It was harder than they expected, apparently his anatomy is a little strange (like the rest of him, lol!) And the blockage was NOT 70%, more like 90%, so its good they got in there! They did use a bit more dye than they would have liked, due to the difficulty, but they expect it to be OK. He should be able to go home late tomorrow or Saturday. And he CAN go away next weekend for their anniversary, and even play golf with DD! Hooray!

Praying like crazy that his kidneys get through this fine, since that really is the big issue now.

I will be SO glad when this is all over and he is home and 100% fine!

 Glad to hear things are going well. Its a good thing the doctors got in there when they did.

Wendy - glad to hear Dad is doing great...my Dad always found where they went in with the dyes etc. was the part that ached for days!!

Kerrie - Deb passed you on to me on FB so you'll be getting a friend request.

LITC - I ignore people on FB all the time...one girl was really persistent so I said yes to being her friend and then deleted her a few months later...:rolleyes1

M&N - :flower3: Sorry I missed the big day...Hope it was a Happy Birthday!!

Welcome back Pike.

MK - Congrats on breaking the top 100.

Hey Holly - How's things?

Nothing happening up here today...weather is fab, around 75 and sunny...think we might take DS out to golf this afternoon...or maybe forget the whole thing a relax by the pool.

Hope everyone has a great day

LITC: I love M&M's too! My friend loves them but her hubby works for Hershey and she's not 'allowed' to buy them. I give her a big bag for her bday and sneak her some at times! Do not like the Hersheyettes---they may not even make them anymore? I did like the peanut butter ones Hershey makes though. Unfortunately, cannot have them now...

I'm off to see Time Travelers Wife and then to Mom's. Hope everyone has a great weekend. In case you are wondering...Racer and I are still at odds over racing! She thought I would change since I could not post it here but not me!

whgrn Glad to hear everything is going well for your dad. :flower3:
MagiKitty Congrats on making the top 100. :thumbsup2
Pikester Glad you had a fun time. Sometimes people forget to appreciate where they are living.
M&N Happy Belated Birthday! My cousin sent me that cash for clunkers email too. He sends me lots of "stuff" Sometimes they are funny.

M&N...did you say its your birthday? Why didn't you tell us? Happy Birthday, dear friend. Many more to come and let's rock this next year together! :woohoo:

I've got to email Racer and get to bed...I'm feeling a year older!!! ;)

I am dropping in for a moment to say that the last couple of weeks have been very busy. I have been trying to take care of my mom's banking stuff. With her passing I didn't realize all of the companies and people that have to be notified. I want to thank you all again for the prayers that were sent our way.

Steven and I had a nice time on our cruise. When I get a chance I will try to post a TR.

DL55~ I see that you are cruising too. What ship are you going on? When you get back maybe we can compare stuff.

whgrn~ Glad your dad is doing better.

M&N~ I hope it was a Happy B-Day! I can always count on you for a laugh. Great e-mail.

D&DDisney~ We will always miss our parents.

LITC~ I can't remember when your little one is due. What is the date?

Hi~ Racetrack, Pikester, MagiKitty, Bopsmom, marie, BKMTV, disney54us, Kerrie.

Hi Sukie glad that you stopped by...I remember having to do a lot of that stuff with my Mom when Dad died...changing all the bills over to her name etc. The worst was the satellite dish company. they demanded a copy of his death certificate in order to cancel the service then my mom had to reapply under her name...:confused3

I'm here Pikester! Just got back from family dinner. My nephew looks good and his stitches look good too. He's lost 15 lbs in the last week, but he's on the road to recovery. He thinks he's going to try to go back to college next week, he went to the local community college and they do not offer any of the classes he needs, and he doesn't want to fall a semester behind.

I completely disagree with this thinking, and I know that despite his best intentions, he will not take the best care of himself. He's still waiting to hear if housing is available on campus. At the very least, I do hope he recognizes to take extra special care of himself.

It rained something horrible today but I got to wear my pink polka dot galoshes. If there's one thing that men love, its boots and a skirt of a girl. It felt nice to be ogled at the gas station. Its the cheap thrills in life.

Sukie and Pikester.... It certainly has been a crazy few weeks. Hope you're feeling better.

"Things" are good. I was just thinking about the kids going back to school next Thursday. I can't believe that summer vacation is over!

I've been thinking about your DN. I was wondering how he was doing but I figured that you would let us know when you could. Maybe he needs to go back to feel better; atleast emotionally. My fingers are crossed that he gets the on campus housing and soon.

We had some nasty storms go through here this afternoon. Thank goodness it wasn't as bad as those towns to the North and South of me. Up North (where we vacationed for 3 days) they had flash flooding and to the South of us they had tornado warnings.

Kids are so funny sometimes! I have to share a DS8 story.

Tonight we went to the next town over from us. They have all the big stores, Walmart, Kmart, Home Depot, Hannaford, Burger King, McDonalds, etc. We went over there because DH needed to visit a bike shop to get some parts for his bike that he broke during his bike race this past Sunday. We also needed to go to Home Depot to find a new microwave. Ours bit the dust on Monday night (right before our trip) so we went to see what they had. On our way from the bike shop to Home Depot DS8 made an observation; he was talking to DS11 and in a somewhat excited voice that sounds squeaky due to a head cold he says "Hey, you know what? My mouth is big and my tongue is little!" I guess he just noticed!

Pikester...that is just too cute! Those are the kind of things to write down...they are just darling.

I can't believe its back to school already! This summer really flew by fast.

At dinner, both my SIL and my mother were lamenting that Christmas is just around the corner....I looked at them and said "huh? Its four months away! A third of the year! Don't forget about Thanksgiving!" (we don't celebrate Halloween really). But at the rate its going now, it WILL be the holidays soon!

Gotta love kids! Can't believe your's are heading back already...we still have until the 8th of Sept.

MK ~ glad DN is doing better...love the boot story...I have a pair of black high heels I wear in winter that have the same affect...they have 4 inch heels so make me around 6ft. Great for intimidating people to!:thumbsup2

We had crazy weather around here yesterday...there were even a couple of tornadoes that touched down...one about 40 miles east and another north of Toronto...tornado aren't very common here.

It feels like the holidays just get earlier and earlier every year. Of course they are always on the same dates but I think the stores put stuff out so early now that it just seems earlier. I'm figure this year with the way the economy is that all the stores will be competing with each other for the customers money so we'll be having Halloanksgivemas anytime now!

I kept having a nightmare last night that had us getting tornados. I think it was because the AC was on and making noise and then we had a fan on circulating the air so I could feel that while I was sleeping. Horrible, horrible dreams!

DD just walked in complaining she can't sleep because she has something stuck in her hair...no idea what it is except it's sticky. Managed to pull the hair apart but I'll have a mess to deal with in the morning...ahhh the joys of parenthood!

Too sticky for boogers or toothpaste...it's not gum but I'm thinking some sort of candy...not sure how she got it in bed though...may have to check her room for a stash of something. She of course, has NO IDEA what it could possibly be!!

M&N, Happy Birthday!!!

MK, congrats on making the top 100!

Pikester, cute story!

Hi Sukie!

Dad is doing great. He was moved from CCU to a regular room today, and he will be coming home tomorrow!! WooHoo!!!:cool1: Sooooo glad his ordeal is almost over! Meanwhile, I am home with both kids (at last!), having picked up DS from camp today. Took us 4.5 hours to get home, which should have been about 2.5-3 hours. Overturned car on the Parkway, so it took us 40 minutes to go 6 miles. DSis told me to get off at an exit, and I did and she talked me through getting onto the NJ Turnpike. (she's even better than OnStar!!) Then it started to monsoon, so traffic on the pike was only going about 40. I feel like I have been driving all day, because I HAVE!! From 7:45 this morning to 5:15 tonite. That's just torture.

Off to bed now--I can barely keep my eyes open!
