TKers Take the Fifth!

I'm here too!!

OMG what a day it's been today!

After a very good sleep in my own bed last night, I got us all up at 8. Mom had said she needed 30 minutes to get ready. She was already awake and had eaten breakfast, and it still took her over 45 minutes to get ready. And that was just the beginning!

On the way to drop off DD at BFF's I had to get gas, and also noticed one of my tires was low on air. Tried filling it, and a nice guy there had to do it for me, and then it ended up that we filled the wrong tire! (my dashboard readout tells me the pressure of all the tires, but doesn't show which tire is which). We dropped off DD and headed to Mom's house. We were already running late, and I asked her to be quick. We had planned to be there less than 15 minutes. well, how about an HOUR and 15 minutes! And then we got a mile up the road and she realized she had left her pills home, so we had to turn around and go back. By the time we got to the hospital (I had wanted to be here by 11), it was past noon.

So we go in to Dad's room, now in CCU for the aspirin protocol, which they hadn't started yet. We go down to get lunch and have a big to do over staying down there to eat (I wanted to go right back up to Dad's room) I think I have reached the limit of my patience with her!

They finally started the aspirin protocol about 3 pm. It went great, no problems, no symptoms. The big boss allergist came in and told him if he misses a day it's ok (not good, but ok), but more than a couple days and he would have to redo the procedure or risk an allergic reaction. Much better than the dire warning from the resident about never missing a day or it could kill him!:scared1: Anyway, they will do the stent tomorrow, and they don't expect any problems.

DSis got here just after 7, after a prolonged delay at JFK airport--customs backup, broken baggage claim machinery, traffic jam--it was over 4 hours from landing til she got here! But as soon as I saw her, I swear I felt my stress level drop 75%!!! Daddy was thrilled to see her, and had a big smile on his face. I know how much it means to him to have her here.

We decided to wait to eat dinner until visiting hours ended at 8. BIG MISTAKE! The cafeteria closes at midnight. That does NOT mean they serve real food until then! All they had was hotdogs, some odd looking fish and mashed potatoes, and some premade tune sandwiches. We decided to go to the sandwich shop beneath the hotel, which is open til 9. So we trek on over there and notice that the place is dark. ***?? OK, I saw takeout menus at the reception desk, we can order in. We go to the elevators and...nothing. Turns out there is a power failure at the hotel! And we are on the 17th floor--14 floors up from the lobby where we are standing! The facilities guy who was here was super nice and helpful, and showed us to a conference room that had emergency lights, a table, and chairs. He gave us the number for a pizza place, and i called in an order. About 5 minutes later the lights went on, so we came up to the room and had our pizza here. Not the best pizza I ever ate, but it was ok. Needless to say, we will plan on an earlier dinner tomorrow! Good grief--it's always an adventure!

DS comes home Friday. I will leave here early in the AM, drop DSis off at Mom & Dad's so she can get Dad's car, and then drive up to camp. We will NOT come down here Friday--Mom and DSis will be here. On Saturday, if Dad isn't coming home, I'll bring the kids down to visit. If he comes home, we will meet them at the house instead.

Would you believe, last night in the thunderstorm that was so severe it blew trees down, DD and the ex were at a ball game and the ex refused to leave?!?!?:confused3 DD said she wanted to go home, but he was convinced they would restart the game! They finally left nearly an hour later when the storm didn't let up. What an idiot! DD is so glad she doesn't have to stay with him any more nights (she's with BFF tonite and tomorrow, and loving every minute of it) I feel bad that poor DD came home and has barely seen me, since I've been down here with Dad. I know she understands, but it's hard for her. I told her I will make it up to her when Grandpa comes home.

Well, sorry this is so long, guess I'm just rambling, venting, whatever. Thanks for all your prayers and good wishes--they're working!!!

Big:hug: I have been where you are and it is tough. Don't worry your DD understands. Yes a idiot, guess thats why he's your EX!

you can call me Kerrie, SCHBR'smom is so long

MW isn't as interactive, you don't see your "don" walk around or anything. But, you do jobs, fight, rob, mafia stuff to move up. I'm at level 31, I think, but there are people in the 300th levels. They take it pretty serious. You have loot, vault collections, lots of guns and getaway cars. I'm still learning about it. My DSIL tells me a lot. All in all, its ok. If you want to start, I'll happily be in your mafia. Or, if you need neighbors on farmville, let me know. We could always use more.

Hi SCHBR'smom / Kerrie I just wanted to introduce myself. I went MIA for a while there and you must have joined our little group. I do remember seeing you screenname out there on threads. Not that I venture out there to much, it can be a big bad tough world outside:rotfl:.

Good morning everyone!

Kerrie, great to see you again! I'm barely on FB, and I see the Mafia Wars is getting to everyone. I am absolutely terrible at games of all sorts, with the exception of Scrabble, and I've managed to stay away.

Have two more nights of playing Millionaire online. I just want to make top 100. last night, finished 139 out of nearly 7000. Pretty good, but I'd like to make my goal. only two nights left!

Morning MK, good going on Millionaire online good luck!

Good Morning,

As I type there are millions of Lego blocks all over the floor. Kids are busy building a Lego Town and I am helping sort through all these 1000s of pieces. Very fun!

Today is 2yrs since I lost my Dad,:sad1:so I am feeling bummed and looking for ways to keep busy. A day doesn't go by that I don't think of him.

Wow...Kerrie and Marie are now involved in the Mafia?:scared1: Gangsters on our own thread.

Hope all continues to go well in TKer land!

DL55 - Only 2 more days!!!!::dance3:

:hug:about your dad, it is hard I know.

Okay TK'ers need to actually get some stuff done. Campaign Kick off Garden Party tonight, hope the rain holds off.

Good morning everyone!

Wendy, glad things turned out well with your Dad and that your sister arrived both Stateside and in Philly safely. But the rest of your day is just harrowing! Always bring snacks. And what is the ex thinking? Or not thinking? That is just silly. No game is worth risking your lives, and isn't DD afraid of storms?

Dad will be going for the stent any minute now (they told him 1:00), and should be gone about 2 hours so by 3 or so we will know what's up. Mom is a bit calmer today. I think everyone is doing better now that DSis is here!

MK, hope you make the top 100 tonite!

LEGO town sounds like fun! Sorry about your Dad--I can relate way too much right now, praying not to totally understand it! (does that make any sense?)

I LOVE The Very Hungry Caterpillar! GREAT book!

I'll send an update on Dad later...

Just found ya'll on page 2 :scared1:
here's a little bump

Oh, and D&D, we have legos everywhere, too! :goodvibes

whgrn what a day you had. At least your sis made it. Hope everything goes well today.

I have finished packing. :yay::woohoo: The largest suitcase weighs 46 lbs. I hope the scales are not off. (I use these to weigh me, I don't need to be heavier). I don't think I could get anything else in there. I may have to remove something if I want to bring back souvenirs. :rolleyes1
Just discovered I sent my credit card payment to the wrong credit card company. :headache: Luckily I caught it and sent the correct payment but now I'll have a credit on the other credit card. I have a statement from that card but it was sent out before my "extra" payment arrived. I'm not planning to send the payment as what I just sent was more than due. I guess I could check that account on line. :guilty: I was always useless at work the day before vacation. :rotfl:

Hello all:

If I don't talk to you sooner DL55...Bon Voyage. Hope you have a great sail.

I just started reading one about someone going to FL for a month and was wondering if it was cheaper to buy food at home or there? I was thinking of a sarcastic reply but decided not to...

My sister's MIL takes all her groceries when she goes to FL...she must spend more in gas from all the extra weight than she could possibly save by buying beforehand. :confused3

My FB game addictions are wordscrapper (scrabble) and the solitaire games...play way too much!!

Wendy - Glad things are going OK with Dad, and that your sister made it home.

MK - Good luck with Millionaire.

Hi Kerrie, Marie M&N and D&D.

I knew it was too good to be true. There's a sneak preview of the new Tinkerbell movie at Magic Kingdom while I'm there for APs, and I thought we'd go. No guests, though. So I'm not going to leave BF waiting for me on Main Street while I go to the movie. I'm being a nice GF.

D&D...big hugs to you on this difficult day.

DL55...yeah on the packing! Of course you'll get souvenirs, but isn't that what a carryon is for? :lmao:

Kerrie, you are a super Mommy! Glad the kiddies did well with the sequencing. What a clever learning tool.

Ooh, Ben and Jerry are on sale this week. Did get some frozen yougurt, but also bought an backup ice cream just in case the FroYo doesn't work out. Always be prepared! :rotfl2:

:lmao: sounds like something I would do! Have a GREAT trip and enjoy the pampering that cruise lines are famous for. And remember--food consumed while on a cruise has NO CALORIES, becuase it is part of the total entertainment package! That's my story and I'm stickin' to it...

They finally came for Dad at almost 6pm. We went and had dinner and now are in his room waiting for his return, which we don't expect before 8 pm. Just praying all goes well. The nurse got a kick out of walking in and seeing me, DSis and DMom each on a laptop! We sure are a "wired" family. Hey, it's keeping us sane right now...

Kerrie: Love Eric Carle's books. The main problem was in the library, they kept falling apart from being used so much. He also has some that make noises.

Disney54us: Here is how I did it...Can you get 2 windows opened to our thread? (I have the page I stop at bookmarked so I can click on the correct page.) On one of the wondows I hit post reply and type my reply. I can look at the other page to see what everyone wrote. Now they do overlap because I don't have a huge monitor but I click on the title bar at the top to put one in front of the other. If that doesn't make sense, I'm sorry...I tried my best!!!

Kitty: Is this the last night Millionaire? Is Regis still on it? I didn't watch after you were on. Good luck...

D&D: I lost my dad 19 years ago in and it's still not one of my better days. Sorting through Legos has never been an activity I've used to keep busy though! It must be a popular passtime though. :upsidedow

Whgrn: Glad things seem calmer today. Waiting for a good report.

DL55: Your tag says more time than money...so you had better take more time with the money you have. :rotfl: It is so easy to screw those things up. I have a lot of my bills taken directly out and get so worried about the ones that aren't. I was afraid I had missed an insurance bill but it came Tuesday. Glad you are all ready for your trip...have a wonderful time.

Kitty: Have a Chubby Hubby for me! You are sooo sweet to give up Tinkerbell! Make sure he knows the BIG sacrifice you are making! :cheer2:

I hope I didn't miss anything or anybody. I have to get off---I think my aunt will call for my bday.

Had wrong link to potty hopping thread: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2249594

M&N...did you say its your birthday? Why didn't you tell us? Happy Birthday, dear friend. Many more to come and let's rock this next year together! :woohoo:

The cardiologist just came in. Dad came through the cath fine and the stent is in place. It was harder than they expected, apparently his anatomy is a little strange (like the rest of him, lol!) And the blockage was NOT 70%, more like 90%, so its good they got in there! They did use a bit more dye than they would have liked, due to the difficulty, but they expect it to be OK. He should be able to go home late tomorrow or Saturday. And he CAN go away next weekend for their anniversary, and even play golf with DD! Hooray!

Praying like crazy that his kidneys get through this fine, since that really is the big issue now.

I will be SO glad when this is all over and he is home and 100% fine!

Good evening Ladies!

I was gone for 3 days and had 5 pages to catch up on! DH, me, DS11 and DS8 enjoyed our time in the towns of Franconia, Lincoln, Woodstock and North Woodstock, NH (These towns are about 2 hours away from my town). We walked a bunch of trails, saw lots of waterfalls, lots of granite, kids and DH went through some very tight caves, we played two rounds of mini golf, hit a water park (I actually wore my swimsuit!), ate breakfast at a really cool place called Polly's Pancake Parlor and on our way there saw a mama bear and her two cubs and basicly had a good time. Even though I live here I am still amazed at what a beautiful state I live in.

Whgrn: So very, very glad to hear that Dad is doing so well. Those blockages are h-e-double-hockey sticks!

M&N: DS8 brought home one of those Eric Carle books that make noise. I think it was the The Very Quiet Cricket and it took me FOR-EV-ER to figure out where that noise was coming from!

Magikitty: :sad2::tink:

DL55: WOW! You're leaving in two days! Have a great time! I can't wait to hear all about it when you get back.

Hello everyone else! I hope all is well with you.

Wendy, so happy that you're Dad did so well during the procedure this evening. And he gets to go on your vacation next weekend--wonderful!

Pikester, what a wonderful vacation to go around your state. Driving back and forth to Binghamton (a drive I could probably do in my sleep), I was still amazed at how beautiful it is. Each part of the country has its own unique attributes. The Pancake parlor sounds yummy! I love those kind of places.

I did it! I accomplished my goal---I broke to the top 100 on Millionaiare albeit briefly. At one point, I was 39 out of over 6000! Short-lived, but still thrilling. Doesn't take much to please me....

Hi there M&N...I was wondering about you and how you've been handling things...big hugs to you. And thanks so much for the compliments.

LITC....I'm sorry that these last few weeks have been really trying for you---I'm sure this heat isn't helping much either! But the little one is coming so very soon, and then its a whole new ballgame! I can't beleive you received my gift already. I will tell you that they had to split the order....I'm so excited for you to get it and can't wait for pics with you and the baby with it!

Bopsmom...I wanted to comment about your friend that people seem to have issues with. I am one of those people. Lots of people think I'm standoffish and mean-looking, its just that I'm a little shy and don't do too well with small talk. Its once people get to know me that they realize I'm nice! People do rub people the wrong way, and it was a difficult lesson for me to learn that not all people are going to get along. Judge people by their individual merits, and if it still makes for uncomfortable company, then just deal with them separately.

Thanks again for the gift, I will be sure to post pics after the little one is born!! And I just can NOT believe people would think you are standoffish. I never ever got that impression from you at all.

School secretaries make or break a building. I've had very good ones and very bad ones. We had one years back that asked you why you could not come to work--you don't sound sick! I just stayed out of the office---tried to fly under the radar! It's sad that some principals let them run the office but I think it's easier for them.
I'm a shy person too---really. I do not make friends easily, in person that is! That's one reason, I think that it was so strange to meet some TKers. You didn't feel like strangers.
:yay: News---braging time! :yay: You will just have to suffer since I don't have racer here anymore--:sad2: I was FIRST in the NASCAR picks thread! I was soooo surprised. I'm actually in 29th place for the year. I think I've had only 4 top 5 finishes out of 20 races. I just got lucky. Actually, I did pick my #88 and he came up the last several laps to finish in 3rd. I guess my others must have done ok too. What really helped was I didn't pick Jimmie Johnson. He was leading with about 3 laps to go and ran out of gas and finished around 30th. He's a good racer and a lot must have picked him so he hurt their score.
And Whgrn will understand this for sure---I lost 11 lbs in 2 months! :cheer2: That's the rate they want me to go. But I will blow it some when I go to Shady Maple on Thursday. I'll probably have 2 days worth of carbs in 1 meal but I don't care. I will not do desserts like I usually do but I am going to enjoy it.

Wow M&N--that is SO great! Congrats to you. What is Shady Maple? Never heard of that one.

Yay M&N!!! Good for you!:cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

 everyone else!

Down here in Filthydelphia (that's what Dad calls it!):lmao: The hotel is nothing fancy but it's clean, the beds are comfy, and its across the street from the hospital. Dad is settled into his room. It's much nicer and the food is better than where he was. But he won't get any food tomorrow or most of Wednesday, since he is having the aspirin protocol tomorrow and the stent Wednesday. Looks like he will be here until Friday or Saturday. Not fun, but as long as he does well and comes home we will deal with it.

DSis will be home Wednesday or Thursday. I can't wait.

I have to stop eating comfort food. Otherwise I am going to FIND the weight M&N has lost!:rotfl2:

Wendy so glad to hear how well dad is doing. Hopefully he is all better soon!!

Marie, that is just too weird. My BFF from college just reconnected with me on FB. We haven't spoke in years, and we did NOT part on good terms. I figure, what the heck? We're different people now, it may work. It was a good try though. I composed a long private message to her that just got lost somewhere...is it a sign?

Regardless, you're a good person for giving a friend an ear and a shoulder to cry on during her need. And at least she was drunk-dialing you and not the ex-boyfriend, which is never a good idea.

You guys are FAR better people than me. A few months ago a ex-friend from high school and a few years after contacted me on FB and I completely ignored the friend request. She did something I didn't feel I could pretend didnt happen and I see no reason to act differently now, just because 11 years have passed. :confused3

Shady Maple is the most wonderful smorgasbord in the entire world! http://www.shady-maple.com/home I've only ever had breakfast there once. I guess I get there several times a year. It's still in Lancaster County but at the other end than I live. I got it free today...just show your license on your bday and it's free. I also got 1 thing for 20% off in their huge gift shop. I got a Jim Shore Mickey with the Statue of Liberty. I have been trying to decide all day if I minded turning 59...the answer is no...it's the thought of next year's age that gets me. I think it's more that my dad died at 60 than the actual age. It's just a number...and then I'll get a senior discount at Shady Maple everytime I go!

I've got to email Racer and get to bed...I'm feeling a year older!!! ;)

Happy birthday M&N, hedy, I ate some M&M's today at work--must've been my little part in celebrating your birthday. :lmao:

Night all.

Hey Guys:flower3:
MK looks like you and I are the only ones on right now. Step away from the Ben & Jerry's-or share with the rest of us. I Love Cherry Garcia:love:

WendySo happy to hear about your dad and I hope he gets to go home soon. Bet he wants to get back to golf too.
Tell him if he is a good boy I will save up all the good golf balls that land in my yard and send them to him.:goodvibes

SCHBR'smom Sorry I haven't said 'hello' sooner. Where in Tx are you from? Native Texan or import?
DD loved The Hungry Caterpillar when she was little: loved all his books actually. The Lonely Firefly was her nightlight when she got scared.

M&N

LITCBet you can't wait to see your feet again:goodvibes
Stay cool and get more sleep-I don't know how much rest you are getting but you're about to get less soon so take advantage.

DL55 Safe Travels and have a Great Time:dance3::yay:

D&DI can relate about missing your dad:hug:. I hope you have a good day in Lego Town- I hate stepping on Lego's and they do wonders for a Dyson vacuum too-they spinnnnnnnnnnnnn around making a terrible racket!

Pikester Sounds like a good trip:thumbsup2

Who on here has a ticker that's about a day off from mine? Am I actually going to be at WDW at the same time as a TK'r?

When are your dates Bopsmom? I've got the following---D&D Dec 15-18....Pikester Nov 29-Dec 6.....Marie Dec 2-16.....M&N Dec 2-16. I'm staying with friends and am not sure when I will be in a park.

Dec 19th - 26th Looks like I'm just missing D&D- oh well, I was hoping someone would be there for an evening.:sad1:

Too bad! I'm not sure if I'll be able to meet anyone either. I'm at the mercy of my friends and do not want to impose on them. After all, I'll get in for free!
