Good morning TKers!

It it currantly 8:35am here in NH with a temp of 72 degrees in the shade! It is going to be a very Hot, Humid, Nasty, Sticky day here today.

Dumb me made two appts today in the town next to mine but they are 4 hrs apart so I have to come back home from the first one and drive back over for the second one.

Had a "service" for my grandmother yesterday. I used the word service with the "" because I wasn't sure what to call it. We all stood around where she was going to be buried and listened to my Dad read a passage from the bible, my mom read "Heaven's Grocery List and then friends and other family members shared stories about Beana. She was then laid to rest, we stood around visiting with family we hadn't seen in a while and then we all went home. Still doesn't feel like she is gone to me. I keep waiting for it to sink in but it just hasn't happened yet. Thank you everyone again for your kind words, hugs and prayers.

I would like to thank disney54 for keeping the page count up since racetrack is no longer here to do it.

So sorry to hear that LITC is feeling unwell. That beautiful baby of yours is almost ready to come out and meet you! I have a feeling it will be anytime now.

whgrn: I can't wait to hear about you DS reaction to his room especially since your DD likes it. Keeping Dad in my thoughts and was happy to read that he is doing better.

Magikitty: Can't believe that DN is home all ready! Happy to hear that he is physically doing better but how is he doing mentally? Is he doing much talking of the incident or is he keeping it locked in? I know how much he loves you so hopefully he is able to talk to you about whatever he needs to.

pepper: Hey there! Just wanted to say hello.:yay:

BKMETV: So glad I gave you a laugh.

D&DDisney: You are so good! I haven't even started school shopping yet and my kids go back on August 27th! DS11 needs new shoes pretty badly but I just haven't made the time to take him to get them.

Bopsmom: The school secretary can really make or break a school experience in my opinion. Whether you are a sub or a parent having to deal with the school; that is the first person that you speak to and your impression of the school comes from them.

I have a little story about a friend that includes a school secretary. Everyone is always rude to this friend. First it was the karate instructer where our kids (her's doesn't now) take lessons. Having had dealings with the man myself I just couldn't see this guy being rude but I wasn't there so.. Next was the woman in charge of our local Christmas Pagent. I guess she was rude when my friend went in to talk to her about signing her child up. See, my friend sends her children to a private Catholic School but the pagent is open to residents of my town. Since I work with said rude woman I was able to ask her about it and she had a different version of the story. The last one I heard about was how rude the school secretary is. The school where my friend sends her kids closed so now they are going to public school. I guess my friend had to deal with the school secretary and she was apparently rude to her. Since I've been in PTO, have run events and have not only been a parent to two students there but have worked as a sub for two years the school secretary has never, ever been rude to me. I wonder what that says about my friend?;)

to the rest of my wonderful TKer friends! I apologize if I didn't mention you by name but unfortunatly time has grown short and I must wrap this up. Time to get my butt in gear so I can get us to the first appt of the day and still get the house ready and pack for a 3 day trip we are going on in the morning to the White Mountains of NH.

Have a great day my friends!

Hey Pikester, the service sounds beautiful! It will take time for it to sink in and that's okay. She will never really be gone, because she will live on in your heart:goodvibes.
Can't promise I can do that every night but I figured I was up that I should pay homage to our late night leader.
Friend sounds interesting, ;)some people just have a difficult time relating to people. Though when it comes to school secretaries they do pick and choose at times who they are nice to0:confused3. When DD was in elementary school the school sec. scared many parents:rotfl:though my GF and I found her funny and got along fine with her.
Thats nice you are taking a trip, try to relax and enjoy!

Morning all:

Pike - sounds like you're getting the weather we had all weekend. Right now I'm sitting on the back deck watching with my coffee :surfweb: watching VERY black clouds head my way.

I think I finally am facing a week where I don't have to go anywhere or do anything (besides laundry, housework etc.) Maybe I'll have a chance to catch up with you all.

Wendy - Hope your Dad is doing better...the heart specialist can do amazing things nowadays, my dad had his first attack when he was 52 but was 68 when his heart finally quit for good...the new heart meds kept him going an extra 16 years!! Glad to hear DD had a great time at camp.

The rain is starting so I better go..

Okay exhusted! It is hot & hotter and I am at war with the morning glory's that are strangling my beautiful roses. Done for now, just to much heat. I have searched the internet to no avail. So does anyone (bopsmom, feel free to chime in here) know how to get rid of these things. They are out of control and I've been waging war since I moved here three years ago and I think they are winning. Now though they are really doing a job on my roses. From what I've read, nobody has come up with a safe way to get rid of them without harming the plants they are killing!:sad2:

Hello everyone!
So glad everyone is feeling better. LivinInTheCastle I hope you feel better soon. :flower3:
I didn't get on the internet yesterday. I decided to do my pre trip cleaning. :scared1: If I didn't check out my forums I probably wouldn't have had so much house work back logged. :lmao: We also pulled out all the clothes we want to bring. I don't know if we can get it all in 2 suitcases and a carry on. :rolleyes1
We are going up the inside passage then going to Wangel-Elias Nat'l Pk then over to Denali Nat'l Pk ending in Fairbanks. Looking forward to the trip but not the packing.

good afternoon everyone! Summer is really here! And its about time!

DL55...just five more days to go! How long is the trip going to be? Don't forget room for souvenirs and plenty of batteries for all the pictures you'll be taking. I always overpack, and know that I'm doing it, but just can't seem to be one of those people who minimalists. How long do you have in Vancouver before you sail? Its going to be absolutely gorgeously breathtaking.....

Just easing into the week here. Glad to have things get back to normal again. Spoke to the nephew earlier and he's glad to be home. He'll stay here this semester and take a class or two at the local community college while he recuperates. He's been discussing the incident on and off, and I think one the physical pain starts to wane, he'll start the emotional healing more directly.

I miss Racer talking stuff about racing that I don't understand. Hugs to you.

I am such a spoiled brat! I just called Universal Studios and their new promo for BMG tix for Sept/Oct is $30/pp! Amazing! We're so going. So when I told BF that I'm willing to give up Cirque for BMG, he asked if we could do both. Really? Its kinda stretching the planned budget, but my APs will expire next year, so maybe we should just go now while we can...I'm so excited! Both BMG and Cirque for about $160!

I'm catching up from the weekend. Glad there was some good news. I'm still in tears about Racer---can't help it. She's such a caring person. But of course, the mods don't care about that...all the emotional support and help she's given each of us. If we would have needed being put down a peg, she would have done that too! :rotfl: I just feel like a friend has died...can't help it.

And NO Jimmie Johnson fan (even though he is a little better than Kyle) is going to make up for her loss...:rotfl: If anyone wants to help, they need to say what a great driver Dale Jr--#88--is. But that's only going to make me smile and not take away the missing.

Kitty---yes, you are spoiled but in a good way. How can anyone not want to let you have things that make you happy? You are such a giving person...people cannot help wanting to give back to you.

LITC: Hang in there...that little one will be looking up at you with that little face all screwed up wanting to cry and you'll just rock the little bugger and hug it to death and you will not even remember all the aches and pains that happened before. (Of course I've never gone through childbirth so I can say that! :rotfl:) Just concentrate on all the love you have to pour into that little one very soon.

HI to everyone else too...don't want to be accused of ignoring anyone...we need to stick together...

Hi there M&N...I was wondering about you and how you've been handling things...big hugs to you. And thanks so much for the compliments.

LITC....I'm sorry that these last few weeks have been really trying for you---I'm sure this heat isn't helping much either! But the little one is coming so very soon, and then its a whole new ballgame! I can't beleive you received my gift already. I will tell you that they had to split the order....I'm so excited for you to get it and can't wait for pics with you and the baby with it!

Bopsmom...I wanted to comment about your friend that people seem to have issues with. I am one of those people. Lots of people think I'm standoffish and mean-looking, its just that I'm a little shy and don't do too well with small talk. Its once people get to know me that they realize I'm nice! People do rub people the wrong way, and it was a difficult lesson for me to learn that not all people are going to get along. Judge people by their individual merits, and if it still makes for uncomfortable company, then just deal with them separately.

I tend to be stand offish myself, until I know someone better. Maybe because I'm old:goodvibes. I talk more to ya'll than I have to my neighbors.

The secretary I was talking about can be very nice....when she wants something and TERRIBLE if you don't hand it over.
I just didn't appreciate her treating me like her hand-maiden last year.
She isn't the secretary that the parents/PTO deal with often-thank goodness because that lady is really nice.
This lady is just not professional, she pawns her work off on others and is more interested in surfing the net and eating than doing her job.
She's even pulled me from assignments to do her work.
See her 'switches' were affecting my job/reputation.
I found out that she has been moved to the main office so she can be supervised by the principal's secretary and can't 'run her game' from the office in the back of the building like she had been.
Maybe things will be better this year.

I really want to make some extra money to come to NYC this spring.

School secretaries make or break a building. I've had very good ones and very bad ones. We had one years back that asked you why you could not come to work--you don't sound sick! I just stayed out of the office---tried to fly under the radar! It's sad that some principals let them run the office but I think it's easier for them.
I'm a shy person too---really. I do not make friends easily, in person that is! That's one reason, I think that it was so strange to meet some TKers. You didn't feel like strangers.
:yay: News---braging time! :yay: You will just have to suffer since I don't have racer here anymore--:sad2: I was FIRST in the NASCAR picks thread! I was soooo surprised. I'm actually in 29th place for the year. I think I've had only 4 top 5 finishes out of 20 races. I just got lucky. Actually, I did pick my #88 and he came up the last several laps to finish in 3rd. I guess my others must have done ok too. What really helped was I didn't pick Jimmie Johnson. He was leading with about 3 laps to go and ran out of gas and finished around 30th. He's a good racer and a lot must have picked him so he hurt their score.
And Whgrn will understand this for sure---I lost 11 lbs in 2 months! :cheer2: That's the rate they want me to go. But I will blow it some when I go to Shady Maple on Thursday. I'll probably have 2 days worth of carbs in 1 meal but I don't care. I will not do desserts like I usually do but I am going to enjoy it.

He's cute and I'm sticking to my story:lmao:Besides DS 11 likes him, whether it was b/c he could see his car at our local Lowes or it just bothered his cousin a JR fan. No differece, not that into it Ev chime in here soon will be "Its Sat. Night in Canada":confused3
Thats it for me folks. to much posting last night:sick:Overtired!:confused3

Yay M&N!!! Good for you!:cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

 everyone else!

Down here in Filthydelphia (that's what Dad calls it!):lmao: The hotel is nothing fancy but it's clean, the beds are comfy, and its across the street from the hospital. Dad is settled into his room. It's much nicer and the food is better than where he was. But he won't get any food tomorrow or most of Wednesday, since he is having the aspirin protocol tomorrow and the stent Wednesday. Looks like he will be here until Friday or Saturday. Not fun, but as long as he does well and comes home we will deal with it.

DSis will be home Wednesday or Thursday. I can't wait.

I have to stop eating comfort food. Otherwise I am going to FIND the weight M&N has lost!:rotfl2:

Yes--unfortunately, food...we must have it but why is so much of the good stuff so bad for you? I just ate the chips on my plate today. Boy were they good. I was eating low fat chips before and I know these were the real thing!

Glad you can be there in the City of Brotherly love! Being close by helps.

I have to turn down the ac---getting a heat flash or something!

I was here! :sad1: All alone!:sad1: No night owls to chat with.:confused3
RAAAACEEEEEER.......

Good morning dear friends! Another hot one here today. Honestly, I don't really mind too much. Makes you really appreciate outdoors and how wonderful the sun feels on your skin. Just not too long though!

Wendy, glad to hear you and the family are settling in for your stay in Philly. Did DSis manage to switch her ticket to PHL? Glad to hear he's comfortable and what a surprise about the food! What about you? How are you? and tell us your dirty little secret...what's your comfort food? Mine are definitely baked goods, either cakes or cupcakes. I love a little frosting.

Congrats M&N on the weight loss! Amazing job--keep it up! Mmmm....I remember you talking about Shady Maple. I won't tell anyone what you eat!

Looking ahead, was thinking of maybe in a few months, in the fall sometime, of taking older nephew down to Lancaster county. He and I were both really interested in going visiting, and given his situation this semester, maybe we'll be able to swing a quick trip there sometime! Maybe October for a day or two. We'll see.

Let's have a good day everyone! Stay hydrated and enjoy some of the wonderful summer fruit out there! Grapes are on sale at the store this week, I'll be heading over there for some....hugs! :grouphug:

Morning Kitty---Comfort food? That can take many routs, unfortunately. HA! Sometimes I just love something salty and then other times, it has to be sweet. Cheesecake is something I didn't get often but love it. Chocolate moose in a little eatable chocolate cup is yummy (even thought I can't spell it!) And you won't have to tell ahyone what I eat...those awful scales are tattletales! You just cannot fool them.
October is a good month...Hopefully the Amish will be taking in the corn and you can see the fields good. I really do love it here.

Hi M! Good morning to you! I can just imagine how utterly gorgeous it must be in the fall around you....ooh, you hit it right on the head with comfort foods! Cheese and sweets for me! I used to make a mean chocolate ganache and put in those puff pastry cups--so yummy!

Ah, yes, the scales and the waistline unfortunately do not lie. Whether or not I choose to listen is another story altogether! :rotfl2:

Morning Ladies:

M&N - Congrats on being #1...and for the weight loss.:goodvibes sorry I didn't watch the race so can't comment on anything!! I'm afaid the PGA was on all weekend at my place.

No differece, not that into it Ev chime in here soon will be "Its Sat. Night in Canada":confused3
Thats it for me folks. to much posting last night:sick:Overtired!:confused3

Can't add much to hockey either...don't watch it much anymore since my Dad died...he was a diehard Leafs fan so we had to watch every game. Now I rarely catch a game unless its the playoffs. Is your tag new, or have I just been braindead and not noticed??

Hi MK- how are you this morning? Hope your nephew is doing good? BMG sounds like fun!

Better go and tackle the laundry

ttyl

Smart $%^ (oops, I almost typed the word ha ha ha)

So, I have been writing again. I had not written since my Dad got sick. That is not why I hadn't written, but anyway, wish me luck I think I am going to try to finish my book.
I was already a couple of chapters in to a ghost story.
Good Job Pepper! I am so proud of you. Imagine, one of our TKers publishing a book one day. Wow! I am an inspired smart $%^. :rotfl2:

 for your DN's continued recovery. I am so happy to hear that he is taking it easy this semester.
:confused3What in the world is BMG tix???? sounds like a great deal but don't know what it is.

:yay: News---braging time! :yay: You will just have to suffer since I don't have racer here anymore--:sad2: I was FIRST in the NASCAR picks thread! I was soooo surprised. :banana:on doing well w/ NASCAR pics this week! I was so mad that I didn't pick Jr this week. Was going to but at the last minute chose Newman. :headache: Why does he always do well the weeks I don't pick him???
:dance3::yay::yay: on losing 11lbs. That's great!!! You go girl!!!!

DL55 - :hyper::hyper: so excited for you. 4 more days!!!!!

Disney54us - You are going a remarkable job keeping our page count up. :thumbsup2Thanks! Now you just need to stay up late w/ M&N so she's not alone.

Hello, Ev, LITC, Bopsmom, Whgrn, and everyone else checking in.

Wendy, Hope all goes well with your dad this week.
If you start to worry about eating too much you can always 'walk' the halls at the hospital.

MMMMMM....Comfort food.....bread-sourdough:love: especially! I blame my DM for this because growing up she baked THE BEST french bread every Sunday.
I love bread and butter with a glass of milk.
I can tell if DH has been to Pannera the second he walks in-I can smell it on him. It is hard to find a good substitute for it too! Low Fat/Low Card stuff tastes terrible. I have given away 3 bread machines people have given me as gifts because, it would take a crane to get me up if I had access to fresh baked bread daily.

Hockey! DD loves hockey that and MX wrestling-go figure?

Hope everyone has a good day. Back to :laundy: for me too.
