The smiles are what we need to keep it together! Thanks! I've missed you around here. Keep those stories coming. I think LITC needs some cute kid stories as she's not feeling too perky right now and needs to see what she has to look forward to.

I could probably tell her plenty of things she won't look forward to, too. But, really, it's all worth it! :lovestruc I know the end is the worst part of pregnancy, but once you see that baby and fall in love, all those worries disappear.

"I spilled"--tooooooo cute!!:rotfl2:

D&D, hope DH doesn't lose his job

Pikester and Pepper--we LOVE you! So sorry you feel ignored sometimes. It surely isn't intentional. I promise!

MK--still praying for your nephew. Hope he is progressing well.

Marie--poor doggie! Those cones have to be totally humiliating, I don't think I would like wearing one either!:lmao: And lets face it, licking is just what dogs DO. Hope the infection clears up fast.

DL55--sorry about the kitty. Hope he comes back. Sometimes they surprise you, even after a long time.

Thanks to all of you for your prayers and good wishes for my Dad. Here's the latest.

They did the cardiac cath. So far so good with the kidneys--they seem to be working. He has a 70% blockage in one of the main arteries of the heart. If this thing blocks off completely, it's all over. So they have to put a stent in. He also has 50% blockages of 2 smaller arteries. Not enough to treat them, but it does mean he has "multi vessel disease". Anyway, the problem with putting in a stent is that then he has to be on aspirin and Plavix, or just Plavix. Well, if he is on Plavix, he can't have a transplant. And he is allergic to aspirin. So if he can't take aspirin, he will have to be on Plavix...forever. Which means no transplant...ever. If he can take aspirin, he can do that and Plavix for a few months, and then go off the Plavix and back on the transplant list.

So. They are going to move him down to University of PA (which is where he is in the transplant program). Probably Monday morning, but maybe sooner. Anyway, they will do a desensitization with the aspirin, to try to get him to be able to take it. If it works, he's good. if not, he's screwed.

Pray that it works, and fast!

I'll keep you all posted.

Awwww...You do love me...You really do!

Thanks for you posts guys. I guess I am having one of those low self esteem weeks. I havn't been 100% myself since my Dad died, but I am coming around.

Pikster, thanks for asking...everyone is doing great. My Mom (who is sweet as can be, but was so dedicated to being my Dads best friend she had no friends) has discovered Facebook and has been reconnecting with old high school friends. I think it has been good for her. She has been very brave. She has such beautiful faith that they will be together again (I have faith, but I am envious of hers)

I talked to Michele today. She is doing good. I plan on keeping in contact with her through Facebook.

Well, there is your Mimi Update ha ha.

Of course we do :grouphug: of course it has been forever that I've been on and I come back and try to get started and poof the s*&$ hits the fan:confused3. Glad to hear you mom has such faith, and how nice she is on FB and finding old friends.

Everyone else HI hope you are having a nice weekend. It is beautiful here (so far), maybe it will stay that way. Kitty glad your DN is doing better and was able to sit up in a chair, and thanks for updating us.

Whoo!

That was close! Just dodged getting to go to the HUNTER'S EXTRAVAGANZA! I opted to stay home and watch a movie with my DD. Nice to have just a quiet mother-daughter afternoon.

I hope today is a good day for everyone with NO MORE BAD NEWS!

Yep, I'd say you 'dodged a bullet' on that too. :lmao:
Thank goodness DH doesn't hunt but, I have been to my fair share of Diving Expos and I still have college and pro football season coming up:goodvibes

I fished a baby bunny out of the pool today-thankfully alive. It's so hot and dry the critters are trying to get water any way they can. I have to put water in the bowls and bird baths everyday because it evaporates so fast.

Hope everyone has a good weekend-2 more weeks till school starts for me and DD.:sad1:

Good choice! Sounds like a far nicer day. What movie????

Hey Bopsmom how are you? So catch me up, you are going back to teaching? Full time or Sub? School starts here on the 9th, Some Public are starting on the 2nd, some are waiting till after Labor Day even though its late this year.

Bopsmom I'm glad you rescued the baby rabbit. :) Of course I don't have a garden near by either.
I'm lucky my DH doesn't go to expos just club demonstrations at the golf course.

Only a week to go until I head off to Alaska! :woohoo:

Glad to hear Dad is doing better. Question:confused3 a bit confused, the transplant is this another issue that has been going on? What transplant does he need? Prayers and  are with you and your family.

Dad has end-stage kidney disease, and needs a kidney transplant.

Today's update: kidneys tolerated the dye from the cardiac cath, and are functioning as well as before the test. The move to U of PA will be sometime Monday, and once they start the aspirin protocol, it will take 5-36 hours. Then they can do the stent (MAYBE Tuesday, more likely Wednesday) and he will be in for at least 24 hours after that. I am hoping he can come home Thursday, but time will tell.

Meanwhile, DD is home from camp!!!! Covered with bug bites, a little tan, and missing her friends from camp terribly already! Right now she is at BFF's house swimming and having dinner, so she is having fun. Mom and I are off to see Dad shortly.

Good evening dear friends! Today feels kinda almost normal, thank goodness. My sister got an emergency leave and came up yesterday, and we all went to the hospital to check on the patient. He looked a million times better! All the tubes were taken out and he was starting to walk short distances.

Today he was discharged! The entire family thinks its a bit early for him to go home, but on the other hand, we're so relieved and amazed he's bouncing back so well, we'll take him! We just take everything day by day, and thankful for everything....

In regards, to the crazy roommate, we don't know what's going on with him. The police finally spoke fully to my nephew yesterday, and they seem to have built a solid case. The issue is whether they can prosecute him although he's not a citizen, and whether he'll just get deported to Korea. His sister is supposed to return from her vacation in Korea this weekend, and despite everything, I feel bad for their family too.

Wendy! So sorry to hear about Dad's "incident". But it seems that he's coming out good so far, the dye didn't do any damage and he'll be transferred to a specialty hospital. Glad to hear he's doing well and that DD is already home!

Hi there Kerrie! Long time no see! Your story about DD2 was just precious. Glad to see you on here....

And you too Bopsmom! So wonderful to come back to all my friends.

Sorry to hear about jobs, kitties, dogs in cones. Glad to hear about upcoming trips, movie days, and that Michele is doing well.

Its Woodstock weekend here and it is just crazy! I finally got to go to the grocery story, and boy was it groovy in there! Lots of tie-dye, beads, and Bethel Woods tee shirts. Its good for the local economy, but it does drive us townies nuts!

Ok, so much to do around here. It feels like I've been driving back and forth to Binghamton for weeks. The only good thing about is that I may have mastered XM radio. It came with a free 3 month subscription in the car. I'm going to miss it in a few months, but things being the way they are, I'll stick to the regular radio and CDs!

Hugs to everyone....thanks so much for the support and well wishes. You were all such a light in a dark time for me. I truly appreciate each and every one of you for being a part of my life.

Thanks for the explaination! Glad to hear his kidneys tolerated the dye. Now at UofP the asprin protocol, is that why he is going? Is he on the transplant list? If so how does that look? Sorry about hitting you with so many questions, and I am sure you are tired and overwhelmed so feel free not to answer me:goodvibes.
Well if she is missing her camp friends:sad2:, then she had a good time:).

:yay:for almost normal. That is great news that he is doing so well:thumbsup2. I understand as much as you want him home you worry and being in the hospital gives a 'safety net' to make sure he is okay.
It is understandable that you would feel bad for his family, they didn't commit the horrific act. Have to say I go both ways, he should be prosecuted but he is not a citizen here and why should our taxpayer dollars be paying for him to sit in jail and get cable, exercise etc. Ship him out of the country and make sure he never is allowed back in! You know over there if he does anything he will be punished. Yes, I'm tough on these things. Was he here on a student visa? I told DH what happened, explained the girl with the big hair on Millionaire :rotfl:just kidding, that we watched the other night had this horrible thing happen to her DN, he pulled up the story on the internet and it said the man arrested was 30? Was that correct?
Oh that's right your up in Woodstock Country:woohoo:, It pops up when I sign on to the internet 40 years ago, and really I think soooo. My sister wanted to go we lived in NY at the time but my DM was no go. Teens what a pain:rotfl:.

Disney54us...your DH deserves a gold star for his internet prowess! yes, the guy that stabbed my nephew was 30 years old. His job in Korea sent him over here for more classes for his job in engineering. In the last few weeks, he had these feelings of prosecution, that everyone was making fun of him for his poor English. He deliberately was not spending time with other Korean students to enhance his American experience. I told my nephew these last few weeks that I thought this guy was schizophrenic and was spiraling out of control. The night he stabbed my DN, he claimed that God was inside him and was telling him this was the right thing to do. We're afraid that he'll plead insanity, but apparently he was sane enough to wipe the knife clean and to ask for a lawyer.

Its really weird for everything so Woodstock-crazy on a national level. For us, it was just a place down the road from my friend's house....

SO glad he's home!! Now you can give him lots of TLC. How sad about the roommate. I hope they get him some help.

I don't envy you being up there this weekend. Even going up to get DD today it was crazy!

Well if she is missing her camp friends:sad2:, then she had a good time:).

Ask all the questions you like. He is going to U of PA becuase that's where they do the aspirin protocol, and also that is the transplant center he is registered with, so his kidney experts are there. Yes, he is on the list. It's a 3 year wait, and he's been on a year, so I guess that leaves about 2 to go.

That is very simular to the VT shootings, and the shootings some months ago in upstate NY. They are here and had feelings of prosecution, b/c of there english or lack of etc. Oh yeah, insanity my a** we all know you have to be sick to do something like that but he was sane enough to wipe the knife and ask for a lawyer. Well I guess he learned quick enough the American experience.... Say nothing and ask for a lawyer. Don't think he would have those options in Korea. This just cements it for me, ship him back b/c we don't need to pay for him in jail and have him plee or get out on parole in a few years. We have enough people with mental problems we don't need to take on more that commit crimes and keep them here.

Bopsmom, a hubby that doesn't hunt in Texas? That's almost sacrilegious! Of course, on the other hand mine doesn't dive or watch football so he might be an outcast in your part of the woods. Also, no golf or any interest in racing so we are bound to be outcasts by most people's standards. :lmao:
Hurray for the baby bunny rescue! It most certainly has been dry. You are better at keeping your birdies happy than I am. When it hits 100 degrees outside they are pretty much on their own cause I am staying inside in the ac. Just so I don't sound too cruel there is a stock tank behind our house so the little critters don't really end up parched.

disney54us, we started watching am old movie, "Mr. Mom". It was bad enough that DD had me fast forwarding and finally asked me to turn it off. So much for watching a good flick with my DD. However, everything turned out okay. After the guys got back home we watched "Hook". Now that one we all liked. It sure put me in a Disney mood! I have been debating if I want to splurge on the Pirates and Pals Fireworks Voyage. Well, after watching the movie I am positive the family will have fun so it has now been moved to my "must do" list.

DL55, I may have already asked, but I don't remember, where will you be going in Alaska? I would like to go someday and see where my mom lived for a while. It should be beautiful and not too cold up there this time of year.

whgrn, it sounds like your dad's is handling things well so far. Here is hoping he keeps tolerating the aspirin so he can stay on the transplant list. Still praying.
Glad DD made it home. You sound like you really missed her. Guess DS will be back soon too, right?

Kitty, Yay for DN getting discharged so fast. He has got to be glad to get out of that hospital! Guess the crazy guy's sister is going to be in for quite a surprise when she gets home. Can't help but feel sorry for her. The story about the guy being schizophrenic makes sense. How else could you do something like that?
DS's new truck came with XM radio too. I am with you though. Good old fashioned radio and cds work for me. Gotta warn you... those people will be calling and sending you stuff for quite some time trying to get you to sign back up.
Hope the Woodstock hippies settle down in your town soon.

Thanks, I know someone who had a transplant from there. They are doing just fine and its been a few years:goodvibes. So he travels from central to there for treatments?

Oh Mr Mom, what is wrong with the youth of today:confused3:rotfl:If I remember correctly that was a really cute movie. Well glad you all found something you all liked:thumbsup2
Too funny about XM/Sirrus DD's car came with the free three month and me being me yeah I'll get to it never called to activate. A year later she says I think I want Sirrus you know it isn't that much. My reply well good you can pay for it. you have a 6 CD player and a ipod player in your car leave me alone!

So dear Mod/God's (I'm being cute not sarcastic), I would like to ask that you unban our dear friend Racer. If you are reading this thread you can see that we have had some horrific thinks happen in our little TK family recently. Racer a regular poster and let's face it kept the midnight oil burning on this thread is a part of our TK family. Go back and see how we have become so close that there was even a TK meet this summer with many from this thread.
I realize that there are Mod's for a reason, and I guess our friend should know better then to go into that big bad world outside of this thread, but she did. That world consist of threads that I have read that would make the nicest person have to speak up and scream SERIOUSLY????? Though on the CB if you want to ask a opinion and open a thread, why ask the virtual world if you can't take the answers. She did not curse etc. and the thread she posted on and after was banned had most posters having a oposing opinion and questioning the OP.
My decision to post this was based on seeing that a regular poster on the DVC boards recently was banned and it seems he has been unbanned. He posted today to thank the mod's and tell everyone he was back. Well if people think the CB can get opininated just start reading the DVC boards. Of course those with 22,000 post plus can ripe anyone apart and they are still the beloved DVC darlings. I think that rules are for all not a pick and choose thing. I read the thread that our friend was banned after posting, of course her post went poof but what I read most people had a negative reaction to what the OP was asking. I personally do not use the boards to have strangers direct my life or ask legal advice, but if someone does I would think they would be aware they are going to get differing opinions.
What bothers me is that when our banned friend Racer came on to post and found out she was banned she was coming on here to post her prayers and thoughts to our thread starter who had just let us know that her nephew had been stabbed by his college roomate six times. Yes this is a virtual world, through the TK thread we have become friends and have met and it is a time right now that we all need to lean on each other.

Gosh, disney54us. I was just thinking today how quiet it is without racer. Now you have went and just about brought me to tears.
cry.gif
What a wonderful friend you are to have written such a sweet note on her behalf. I have not been around quite as long as some of you but I already love you guys!

Mr Mom wasn't a total flop. Just kinda slow compared to some of the action packed stuff of the day. You could certainly tell it was dated. I wasn't too happy about watching the part where they took him to a club with male dancers in their manties with my DD watching. I suppose it was rather mild compared to some of the stuff they put on today. I guess that's why we don't watch much tv.

Oh don't cry:hug:we've had to much sadness around here lately. Well I sought of disappeared for a while, but this is the greatest group of people and the best thread.
Yeah well considering what is on TV I do love the disney channel;)You know it's bad when DS isn't watching it and DH walks in and looks at me and says what are you watching, "oh this is a really good one!":confused3.
