TKers Take the Fifth!

I've not been on facebook very long. My oldest DD loves farmville and she plays for me. I enjoy it, too. Mafia Wars is a family thing. DH's aunt, sister, her hubby, cousins, all play it. It's kinda addicting.

I'm here too!!

OMG what a day it's been today!

After a very good sleep in my own bed last night, I got us all up at 8. Mom had said she needed 30 minutes to get ready. She was already awake and had eaten breakfast, and it still took her over 45 minutes to get ready. And that was just the beginning!

On the way to drop off DD at BFF's I had to get gas, and also noticed one of my tires was low on air. Tried filling it, and a nice guy there had to do it for me, and then it ended up that we filled the wrong tire! (my dashboard readout tells me the pressure of all the tires, but doesn't show which tire is which). We dropped off DD and headed to Mom's house. We were already running late, and I asked her to be quick. We had planned to be there less than 15 minutes. well, how about an HOUR and 15 minutes! And then we got a mile up the road and she realized she had left her pills home, so we had to turn around and go back. By the time we got to the hospital (I had wanted to be here by 11), it was past noon.

So we go in to Dad's room, now in CCU for the aspirin protocol, which they hadn't started yet. We go down to get lunch and have a big to do over staying down there to eat (I wanted to go right back up to Dad's room) I think I have reached the limit of my patience with her!

They finally started the aspirin protocol about 3 pm. It went great, no problems, no symptoms. The big boss allergist came in and told him if he misses a day it's ok (not good, but ok), but more than a couple days and he would have to redo the procedure or risk an allergic reaction. Much better than the dire warning from the resident about never missing a day or it could kill him!:scared1: Anyway, they will do the stent tomorrow, and they don't expect any problems.

DSis got here just after 7, after a prolonged delay at JFK airport--customs backup, broken baggage claim machinery, traffic jam--it was over 4 hours from landing til she got here! But as soon as I saw her, I swear I felt my stress level drop 75%!!! Daddy was thrilled to see her, and had a big smile on his face. I know how much it means to him to have her here.

We decided to wait to eat dinner until visiting hours ended at 8. BIG MISTAKE! The cafeteria closes at midnight. That does NOT mean they serve real food until then! All they had was hotdogs, some odd looking fish and mashed potatoes, and some premade tune sandwiches. We decided to go to the sandwich shop beneath the hotel, which is open til 9. So we trek on over there and notice that the place is dark. ***?? OK, I saw takeout menus at the reception desk, we can order in. We go to the elevators and...nothing. Turns out there is a power failure at the hotel! And we are on the 17th floor--14 floors up from the lobby where we are standing! The facilities guy who was here was super nice and helpful, and showed us to a conference room that had emergency lights, a table, and chairs. He gave us the number for a pizza place, and i called in an order. About 5 minutes later the lights went on, so we came up to the room and had our pizza here. Not the best pizza I ever ate, but it was ok. Needless to say, we will plan on an earlier dinner tomorrow! Good grief--it's always an adventure!

DS comes home Friday. I will leave here early in the AM, drop DSis off at Mom & Dad's so she can get Dad's car, and then drive up to camp. We will NOT come down here Friday--Mom and DSis will be here. On Saturday, if Dad isn't coming home, I'll bring the kids down to visit. If he comes home, we will meet them at the house instead.

Would you believe, last night in the thunderstorm that was so severe it blew trees down, DD and the ex were at a ball game and the ex refused to leave?!?!?:confused3 DD said she wanted to go home, but he was convinced they would restart the game! They finally left nearly an hour later when the storm didn't let up. What an idiot! DD is so glad she doesn't have to stay with him any more nights (she's with BFF tonite and tomorrow, and loving every minute of it) I feel bad that poor DD came home and has barely seen me, since I've been down here with Dad. I know she understands, but it's hard for her. I told her I will make it up to her when Grandpa comes home.

Well, sorry this is so long, guess I'm just rambling, venting, whatever. Thanks for all your prayers and good wishes--they're working!!!

Now, now M&N you know you better play nice. You should know that you can get yourself in trouble out there on some of those threads!

Well, I started a PTR which is pretty boring so far but I had a really good response that I need to reply to. Think I will wait til morning when my brain is working better and I don't have so many interruptions. Anyway, her post also led me to a homeschool thread so I was checking that one out.

SCHBR'smom, I have not been on Facebook very long either. I very seldom ever post anything. If I do it is usually seems to be Disney related. I suppose family is a good thing to have if you are going to be having Mafia Wars, just so long as you are one of the families with power. What do you do on that one?

Well, Whgrn---what would you do if things went smoothly? :rotfl: We can be thankful that dad's procedure went well and no complication there. I guess some drs want to use scare tactics and give the worse possibilities.

Hey Marie---I did post a nice reply. I know how to be nice sometimes! I'll have to check your ptr later. I forget to look for those things. I'll make sure I post a really nice comment! :littleangel:

you can call me Kerrie, SCHBR'smom is so long

MW isn't as interactive, you don't see your "don" walk around or anything. But, you do jobs, fight, rob, mafia stuff to move up. I'm at level 31, I think, but there are people in the 300th levels. They take it pretty serious. You have loot, vault collections, lots of guns and getaway cars. I'm still learning about it. My DSIL tells me a lot. All in all, its ok. If you want to start, I'll happily be in your mafia. Or, if you need neighbors on farmville, let me know. We could always use more.

Hi Wendy! Nothing is quite as good as your own bed! Yay for such good news on your dad. Just try to remember to count to 10 when mom is getting on your last nerve! ;) Sounds like DSis's day was just about as stressful as yours. Glad she got there so you can relax a little and have some help. Bet you and the rest of the family will be so glad when all settles down and life can return to normal.

M&N, I'll be on the lookout for what you post! I have another one around here that claims to wear a little halo and he is not nearly as innocent as he claims. So I am on to you...gotta keep a watchful eye on you angel types!

Kerrie, you are right. SCHBR'smom is long but I cheat.. copy and paste are my friends... but I will try to remember to go with Kerrie from now on. I'll just refer to my handy dandy TKer list that M&N shared with me when I need to refresh my pitiful memory on who is who.

Ooooh, MW sounds fun! I might get farther on that than I ever do on Farmville. You know how it is with kids running around... you never really get all that much time to have fun playing games very long so I never make much progress. Still I might just have to take you up on your offer to become a family member!

Now don't you 2 go around shooting each other...

Off to bed. It was nice chatting with ya'll again!

Good night

That makes me feel better...just shooting non-family members is OK! :confused3 I suppose you rob from the rich and give to the poor too...

Actually, M&N, I have to leave now too. Gotta go play shoot em up with my boys. We play a PC game called Counterstrike. I have to help them get rid of all the terrorists cause I just know they couldn't do the job without me.

Hope the lights don't go out on you, M&N and get a good night's sleep Wendy. Nighty, night!

Good Morning! I'm very excited this morning. I found little cards I could print out that go with the book The Very Hungry Catapillar. Great for sequencing!

Good morning everyone!

Kerrie, great to see you again! I'm barely on FB, and I see the Mafia Wars is getting to everyone. I am absolutely terrible at games of all sorts, with the exception of Scrabble, and I've managed to stay away.

Ok, you'll have to clue me in....the Very Hungry Caterpillar? Sequencing?

Wendy, glad things turned out well with your Dad and that your sister arrived both Stateside and in Philly safely. But the rest of your day is just harrowing! Always bring snacks. And what is the ex thinking? Or not thinking? That is just silly. No game is worth risking your lives, and isn't DD afraid of storms?

Have two more nights of playing Millionaire online. I just want to make top 100. last night, finished 139 out of nearly 7000. Pretty good, but I'd like to make my goal. only two nights left!

Sorry, MK! I've started homeschooling my kids. The Very Hungry Catepillar is a wonderful book by Eric Carle. It follows a catepillar from egg to butterfly. I found little cards for the kids to practice sequencing from the book. It starts with the catepillar through everything he eats to cocoon to butterfly. It helps the kids learn to put things in order and comprehension. They did excellent! :goodvibes

Good Morning,

As I type there are millions of Lego blocks all over the floor. Kids are busy building a Lego Town and I am helping sort through all these 1000s of pieces. Very fun!

Today is 2yrs since I lost my Dad,:sad1:so I am feeling bummed and looking for ways to keep busy. A day doesn't go by that I don't think of him.

Wow...Kerrie and Marie are now involved in the Mafia?:scared1: Gangsters on our own thread.

Hope all continues to go well in TKer land!

DL55 - Only 2 more days!!!!::dance3:

Can I breath a sigh of relief now M&N? I laughed when I read that I was gonna take the blame if the 2 window system didn't work for you. disney54us, the 2 screen idea was my method that I shared for helping me when I post. When I pull up the TK thread I go ahead and open the Reply to thread in another tab. (right click on your page tab to do this and it will give you the options) Then I toggle back and forth between the two pages... reading and working on one of my long winded posts. Works for me very well because I can hardly ever remember what I just read much less who said it![/QUOTE]

Okay you really need to get to know me better:rotfl:When I say computer challenged I mean big time. You lost me at right click:confused3.

Well Marie, I have to blame someone! It can't be my typing!

Disney54us--Has Racer been brain washing you? She was a bad influence on you for sure. ;) I used to boo Jeff Gordon when I rooted for Dale Earnhardt Sr. I can bring myself to root for him now. I can't picture that happening with Kyle but I never say never!

:rotfl2::lmao::rotfl:yep the Evil Queen must have done that to me!

Hi everyone. I am home, just for tonite. At least I can sleep in my own bed! Mom and DD are here with me.

Dad is doing really well. He went for a walk in the hall today, with his nurse for company. (the nurses there are AWESOME!) The allergy doctor finally showed up about 5:30. They will take him tomorrow to do the aspirin protocol. He has to go to ICU for that so they can monitor him, and the dr said they usually like to start about 7:30 am, so he should be pretty far along when we get there for visiting at 11. The dr had to tell him all the possible things that could go wrong. How about "uncontrollable anaphylaxis"? :scared1: In other words, a severe allergic reaction that they can't control and he ends up intubated and on a ventilator! :scared1::scared1:

Needless to say, this raised our eyebrows. I told my Dad, "do NOT do anything like that tomorrow! You are NOT allowed to have problems!":lmao: I'm trying not to worry. We didn't tell DSis this part, as she would be a basket case. I hugged my Dad extra tight tonite when we left.

DSis should be at the hospital by about 5:30 or 6 tomorrow evening. So she will be there for when they do the stent on Thursday. (slight chance they might do it tomorrow late afternoon, but I highly doubt that)

I'll feel alot better when this is all done. Dad's roommate had it done and it was very successful. Only thing is, Dad will have to take one aspirin every single day for the rest of his life, no matter what. If he misses a day, then when he takes it the next day it could cause a reaction bad enough to kill him instantly! YIKES!:scared1:

So, that's my life. Not quite what I expected to be doing this week, but hopefully Dad will go home this weekend and we can get back to some semblance of normal.

BTW, I have decided that the ultimate comfort food is soft vanilla ice cream. That was our dinner tonite. It was yummy.

:grouphug:hang in there!

I'm not on facebook. I probably should but there's really no one from my past that I would like to get in contact with me. I have enough time I spend on the computer without adding that.;)

You should M&N, I don't use it to connect w/peeps from the past, I just use it to keep up w/ friends. You can make yourself unsearchable so that people can't type your name and find you.

I just started reading one about someone going to FL for a month and was wondering if it was cheaper to buy food at home or there? I was thinking of a sarcastic reply but decided not to...

Did you find anything good to read?

Good girl!
