Happy Independence Day USA TKers!

The fireworks show last night was FANTASTIC! Worth the 6 hr wait and long walk to get there. Went w/ a group of friends. Couldn't believe the size of the show. It was like a grand finale for 40min!!!! So much fun. Today its a quiet day of BBQ and relaxing.
I have been packing and shopping for our trip. Trying to limit the amount of stuff we have to pack by consolidating. Not too good at that. So looking forward to this vacation. Hope the weather has improved there.

Evening!!!
D&D, maybe I'll have to look into bringing the "margarita bucket" along to the meet.
That sounds like a plan. :thumbsup2 Just don't give me a hangover so I can enjoy Hershey the next day.

Ok, since D&D gave me permission to ditch my Catholic guilt, I called to add my anniversary to my ressie. I also happened to ask if they had any Le Cellier dinners during my trip---I couldn't help myself. And they had one! So now I am the proud owner of an elusive Le Cellier dinner reservation. Its the last night of the trip, and I'm using that as my celebratory dinner. Its always sad on the last day, but what else spells romance than a dark cellar? :lmao:
Good Girl! That does sound romantic. :lovestruc

Good Afternoon TKers!
Guess what?
I don't want to say it too loud but........

the sun is shining!!!!!!!!

:banana: for the SUN!!!! :yay::cool1:

Happy 4th of July!!

Shmu  Sorry about the trip. You are not alone. Even though you know Disney will still be there, it's still sad.

Sukie You're going to love your cruise. :wizard:

Went to a baseball game in El Paso. Actually was rain delayed. They don't have much practice in covering the field. Quite entertaining watching them take the tarp off.
DH has already upset the pets with firecrackers and has set up the holder for the roman candles and bottle rockets. You don't think he loves fireworks do you? :lmao: We got home just after midnight from the game and he wanted to set of some fireworks as it was the 4th of July. (I wouldn't let him).

I hope everyone has a Happy 4th!

Here's a little ditty. Good for a few laughs.

Ever wondered what happens when Hallmark writers are having a bad day....

My tire was thumping.
I thought it was flat
When I looked at the tire...
I noticed your cat.
Sorry!

Heard your wife left you,
How upset you must be.
But don't fret about it...
She moved in with me.

Looking back over the years that we've been together,
I can't help but wonder...
'What the hell was I thinking?'

Congratulations on your wedding day!
Too bad no one likes your husband.

How could two people as beautiful as you
Have such an ugly baby?

I've always wanted to have someone to hold, someone to love.
After having met you ..
I've changed my mind.

I must admit, you brought Religion into my life.
I never believed in Hell until I met you.

As the days go by, I think of how lucky I am...
That you're not here to ruin it for me.

Congratulations on your promotion.
Before you go...
Would you like to take this knife out of my back?
You'll probably need it again.

Happy Birthday, Uncle Dad!
(Available only in Tennessee , Kentucky & West Virginia )

Happy birthday! You look great for your age.
Almost Lifelike!

When we were together, you always said you'd die for me.
Now that we've broken up, I think it's time you kept your promise.

I'm so miserable without you
it's almost like you're here.

Congratulations on your new bundle of joy.
Did you ever find out who the father was?

So your daughter's a hooker
and it spoiled your day.
Look at the bright side,
it's really good pay

Oh yeah, Kitty, thanks for the info on the UT tickets and AAA. I will be sure NOT to throw my tickets away! Also, will try to call AAA next week to see if they have anything interesting to offer. Any idea when ticket prices may go up? I want to make sure to order before hand.

Hey there Marie! Happy Fourth to you! Your ditties made me laugh.

Rumor has it that ticket prices usually go up sometime in August. Last year they went up a few dollars each. If you're buying for a group, that can really add up.

 Everyone!

I have my laundry on the line, tuna pasta salad cooling in the fridge and pineapple cake baking in the oven. Life is very, very good. Too bad there's no mail today, could have used a good magazine to read...

Oh goodness, the Yahoo homepage has changed its format. I can't find anything right now. They should have warned me. I don't do well with change....

mariezp funny...some of those could sell real well. :lmao:

MagiKitty Since you don't have a new magazine, you can study the new Yahoo home page. ;)

Hi DL55...there's nothing like change to make me feel like an old fuddy-duddy. I can't find where I can change my preferences. I used to have my homepage customized and it was a cute pink. (everything is better in pink) Now it utilitarian white and is so uninviting...

I like to be able to see what emails I have without actually going into mail. Now I can't even find it...ugh. Where's my mail???:headache:

Well, it was sunny out but it is now........RAINING! Boooooo! Hiss, Hiss! Boooooo!
tongue0020.gif

Hopefully it stops and the sun comes out again before we have to leave for the cook-out at my in-laws. I've been thinking about the yummy food all day!

That sounds really cool! Wish I had HBO so I could see it.

I don't think my ticker is the exact date of when the movie comes out but I figure it's pretty close. Not sure when we will be seeing it though.

Morning all:

Hope you all survivied your BBQs and fireworks.

Love the ditty Marie.

Just read a post about the monorail crash at WDW...so sad...thank goodness in was 2am or it would have been much worse.

:cool2: Well the sun is finally decided to reappear...2 days in a row now!! Only need some heat!! We decided to bite the bullet and turn the heater on in the pool (it's down to 72*F). We having a pool day today no matter what.

TTYL

Good morning TKers!

Not much going on this morning. Just hanging around and doing some chores that need to be done. I've also been visiting the Community Board and some people must have stayed up too late last night enjoying the 4th. Lots of cranky people! I'm posting a link below to a thread that looks good

http://disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2220858&page=4

I was shocked to see what happened with the Monorail. How sad that someone was killed because of it. :sad1:

The sun is shining here in NH but it is windy and very dry making it feel cool. For some reason my thermometer is not working but I think it must be in the upper 60s. Hopefully it gets warmer.

Have a good day!

Happy 5th of July!

Didn't hear about the monorail yet because always go straight to this thread first. So sad.. so is the thread Pikester linked. Of course I'll go and read about both of them. :guilty:

Good afternoon ladies! How was everyone's Fourth? Even better, how is everyone's fifth going so far? We've finally found summer this weekend and it has been glorious!

It was fairly quiet around here. I expected more people would have illegal fireworks but I didn't hear that much last night. I watched the Macy's fireworks on tv and it was beautiful and the music was so inspiring.

There was an Amber alert out yesterday for a 7 month old girl who was taken from her stroller at Walmart. She was with her Dad and brother, and the dad was using the self-checkout when she was taken. They closed everything and didn't let anyone in/out for hours. Thank goodness, she was found five hours later, behind Walmart in the woods. She was facedown in the mud, but is expected to be fine. So scary!

BF told me this morning about the monorail accident. The driver was so young, its heartbreaking. You don't really think about very real dangers at Disney World.

I got out the paper this morning and planned out my grocery list. a lot of the stuff I'm supposed to bring to the meet is on sale and I have coupons! Very exciting for me....Now if only all the tourists would leave so I can shop in peace!

Just tried to post my reply but it wouldn't...thankfully, I copied it before it was lost so here it is again---I hope!

No it's not! Stupid me copied the dumb smilie and so I lost the post...Oh well...not that earth shattering. I'm just home to get the mail and check in here...which is taking a lot longer than I planned! I'm sure mom doesn't miss me as long as the Phillies are winning. She may be napping too...she's tired from her sister's visit. I'll be back Tues.

No time to gloat over the race---GO TONY!

M&N - Could you tell Jr to stop getting into crashes when I pick him? :headache: Jeez...that boy has got to get his act together.

Another quiet day here. Sun is finally out and its warmer - but that's all relative.
I really have to start getting packed and organized. Trying to plan a menu for our entire trip, estimate the gas $ we'll need and the places we want to visit that cost $. Got our camp ressies all done and will be saving there, but gee wiz...the cost to ride the Metro in DC is nuts. About $8 per person per day for an all day pass.

Hope everyone had a fun and safe 4th!

13 days to go!!!!!

Hey there D&D....you'll love the Metro! Where are you leaving the car? Do you know which station you'll be at? Some stations have very limited visitor parking, especially during the week. The Metro beats driving in DC any day! And even worse is the parking! You can usually find parking on the Mall, but they're only for 2 hours...

do you know what you want to do in DC? Its actually a really cheap city to visit, especially when you see how vast the Smithsonians are. Are you planning to see the National Zoo? If you have some spare money in your budget, considering the ages of your boys, I'd look into going to the Spy museum. Its lots of fun! And don't bother going to DC's "Chinatown". Its like three stores and an arch near the arena.

I've only been to the Holocaust Museum once, and it was very, very intense. I'm not sure I'd recommend it for younger kids. A lot of people forget to visit the National Archives, its behind the Natural History museum. Its really amazing to see the Declaration of Independence! There always seem to be long lines, but that's just because the inside visitor area is so small. It doesn't take long at all to go through. And Arlington Cemetery is amazing!

I don't know if its still there, but if you visit the National Cathedral, there used to be an ice cream shop on the roof. Beautiful views! Another great spot to see DC skyline is the top of the Kennedy Center, which usually have some great shows for great prices, if not free.

I love DC...look forward to hearing your plans. That reminds me, I have to talk with my younger nephew. He asked his brother what he was going to eat when he was with me, apparently he thought I'd just let him starve!

Thanks for the info Kitty! We do not have definite plans for DC except for whatever day they get us the Capitol and White House tour. Other than that, we are open to whatever we can see. So many people have recommened the Spy Musuem, so I think we'll be checking that out. And, of course, the monuments.
The campground we are staying at has transportation to the Metro. I don't mind riding the Metro, just shocked at the price per day.

Are you bringing 2 nephews to Hershey?? My kids are very excited to meet some new friends and ride some rides w/ them.

D...I'm bringing my younger nephew, 12 y/o. And my friend from Maryland is driving up too....I'm sure he'll give you some great advice on the DC area if you should have any questions...

My older nephew is still trying to ditch the family wedding he's been roped into. I'm not sure what he's doing. We figured out there's Amtrak from NYC to Harrisburg. He's still up in the air, depending on how important this family function thing is.
