Yikes...there was a spider on Baby Walter!

He does look awfully cute in orange though!

D&D---great pumpkins. Do you save the seeds and roast them?

That soap sounds good Marie. Do you know where to buy it?

It sounds like they will be very short on the shot too.

Say a prayer for the people in Franklin VA. My cousin just wrote that the paper mill is being closed in March. 1100 workers out of a job...for many, that's all they know. Not counting the other businesses that depend on the mill. The mill has been there since 1936. That little town is going to die. My cousin would have his 40 years in in May. His wife didn't say if he will still get his retirement.

M&N, that is just horrible. I'll definitely send prayers their way.

DL55, we've been in September, November, and August. We've also been to Universal in June. I think weather wise, June was the best. It was warm but not unbearably hot for my kids. Me, I love the heat so August didn't even bother me. I think attendance might be down too. I've gotten quite a few codes in my email and I use to never get any.

D&DDisney, those pumpkins are awesome. I'd love to carve some here but I know they would not make it through the night. Makes me angry that my kids have to miss out on that.

Magikitty, next week is out last week in this place. Very nervous and excited. And what a wonderful thing you are doing with the clothes.

The only time I was really cold was in Feb. It was nice the 2 times I went in Dec...I did have a sweater on one night. I am taking my Mickey Christmas sweater hoping to wear it but didn't the year I bought it. I may just put it on for a picture!

I am thinking of doing photo Christmas cards this year if I get a good pic down there. One year we actually went to Christmas, FL and mailed our cards. That was fun. They have rubber stamps to decorate the envelopes and will hand cancel the stamp's postmark so it says Christmas. I don't think we will have time to do that though. I won't guarantee a photo card, but anyone who would like to go on my card list, pm your address. I do have a few.

JO: could you just put the pumpkin out while the treating is going on? Take it down for the tricksters?

M&N, we've tried that before and it didn't work. We came back and it was gone. We all go trick or treating together so nobody is home. When we are in our new place next year, we are going to go all out on the decorating since it's something we haven't had a chance to do.

Our post office will hand stamp Christmas cards here too. My dad is a postal worker and was on tv when the did a story about how they hand stamp all the cards here. It was pretty cool.

I really need to send out Christmas cards this year. I've been kind of lax about them for the past 2 years.

JO---You need to get them out early with your new address on them too! Did you see the new stamps? There were 4 different ones in a group...one was a snowman. I love snowmen...not in person though! :rotfl: I don't know if I'll get my tree up this year but I have all snowmen for it. I have other snowmen decorations I'll put up if I don't do the tree.

I know I'll have to get them out early. I'm just such a procrastinator. I will ask my dad to pick up some stamps for me.

We usually have an artificial tree but this year I want to get a real one. And this year, we will decorate the outside of our house. I think we may end up doing Christmas at our house too. It's going to take a lot of planning since my parents are divorced and they both like to spend one on one time with the kids. I know they should be grown up enough to deal with the holidays but if I make things easier for them, then everyone is happier.

JOCA - I grew up in a neighborhood where you couldn't leave pumpkins, or anything, out for even a minute. Would get stolen or damaged. :sad1: We still carved pumpkins but left them inside, in the back hall where it was cool. Didn't get to light them back then, but still enjoyed it.

M&N - I think your idea of a photo card sounds great. Your tree decorations sound cute. I love the trees that have a theme. Our tree is more an eclectic mix of ornaments we collected through the years. Each one has a history and meaning to us. Guess that's what is most important.

Will send prayers to those in VA who are losing their jobs. How awful! :guilty:

Our town takes up a giant food collection on Halloween/Trick or Treat weekend. We get to fill the Cop Cars with as many items as we can. I've collected a ton of food this year because I hear so many more people are in need and the food pantries are running out.

We always like to donate to the food banks too. There was a paper bag in the newspaper to take to a store with food thinjgs. They gave a list of what they want. It's really an easy thing to do but means a lot to people.

I have a small gingerbread tree always up beside my hutch. I have gingerbread things on the wall too. I really should have a bigger tree! When I was at school, I liked to put up a little owl tree...I collected owls. I also have some bookish decorations. I gave some of my country type decorations to a friend who had just gotten married. I have some homemade ones that I cannot part with but haven't used. I have 2 stars that hung on my parents first tree. Mom was going to toss them...they really don't look that great but I had to save them.

I must hit the sack! I'm getting up at 6 to go to Shady Maple for breakfast. I pick up my 88 yr old friend at 7:15. Drive about 40 min get mom's friend and
5 more to get Mom. It's then about a 45 min drive to Shady Maple. We'll then take another way home.

Our tree is totally mismatched too. I have some ornaments from when my parents were first married. They are hideous but I just can't part with them. I also have some ornaments that my brother and I made as kids along with all the ones my kids made. Even though it's not as pretty as the store decorated trees, it still means the world to me.

Night M&N. It was nice chatting with you and D&DDisney tonight.

Hey everyone!!!

I have not read back..I'm at work...My internet is down at home (which is where I have been this time). Hopefully I will be back up soon. I think Verizon is coming Monday or Tuesday (Please Please!! LOL)

Thanks everyone for my birthday wishes on Facebook! Unfortunatly all I can do is see the posts via email, but I am not allowed on there from work. :guilty: :sad1:

Michelle, I am working on emailing you. I have changed A LOT lol. Send me an email b/c I don't have yours at work.

See yall. Feel free to email me. I miss everyone.

I'm saving you JO...we don't want you to become the thread killer here! 15 hours without a post. I have us bookmarked so don't know what page we would be on. I guess I should have been more like Pikester and posted at 6 when I got up but I was rushed.
Had a wonderful breakfast at Shady Maple. I had to stand in line about 10 min to get an omlet made but it was great. I had smoked sausage link and turkey/cheese sausage links. Plus crispy bacon--didn't count how much! Fresh fruit. I did not have a lot of goodies I would have loved to have...muffins, donuts, french toast, pancakes. BUT I did splurge and have a half of an apple fritter! I just had to have it...last time I had 3 halfs! They also have sugar free Fr vanilla cappuccino. Then we took a ride to see the countryside. It was a little rainy and foggy but the trees were very colorful. We even saw a deer. I was gone 5 1/2 hours!

Hey Pepper...I've asked about you! Hope things are good at the Beach! My cousin is very upset about Franklin's mill being closed. How did your son's baseball go this year?

Hello everyone!
Sorry to hear about the mill. :sad2:
I don't know any other type of tree than the "mismatched" Christmas tree. Got to keep the "heirlooms". :lmao:

Good evening my friends!

Just a quick hello and I hope you all had a great day!

Hi pepper, long time no see! :goodvibes

I'm just trying to show this thread some love so it doesn't die!

Hi everyone!
I'm here, just getting on later than usual. Since my kitchen is looking better I thought I better keep up (NO support from the rest of the family ) Just want to keep it nice for a while. As soon as the sun comes out I'll take a picture for you. Right now it is cloudy and the house looks very dark. I know I could turn on a light but that would make my electric bill go up. Every bit I save goes for travel. :lmao:

:surfweb: Does the computer run by battery? I can barely see the keys..no lights on and they really are needed. PA is allowing the electric co get a big raise in rates and now the feds want to tax it too??? I guess we will be typing by firelight--but wait, that would be killing a tree...maybe by flashlight--but wait, batteries fill up the landfill...maybe by solar--but wait, if the sun were out, I would not be having this problem! I just cannot win! :confused3;):confused3

Again with the no notifications! Been crazy around here getting ready for surgery. At 3:15 today they called and told me it was cancelled becuase they didn't get the clearance they needed. WHAT?!?!? I was hysterical. All this planning, getting ready, etc, for nothing??? But I called my hernia doctor's office and talked to his nurse and they sent the needed clearance, so now everything is back on. Of course, I was supposed to be the first surgery but for some reason that didn't happen, so now I am scheduled for 1:30 pm. Long day without eating! I'm just grateful to be on the schedule. Just think, at this time tomorrow, I'll have my new knee! Woohoo!!!:cool1:

D&D those are some awesome pumpkins!

JOCA what a cool trip that will be. i stayed at the Beach Club in 2002 and we loved it, really nice. I also stayed at the Contemporary, but that was back in 1984, so I imagine it's aged just a bit...

I can't remember what all else I wanted to respond to, so I'll just say HI EVERYONE! I will have my laptop with me at the hospital, of course, so I'll be on, probably Friday (I expect to be in recovery room until late tomorrow evening, if not overnight.)

Catch y'all later!
