I forgot to add, congrats on the insurance. I can't believe its that much! But thank goodness its built the way it is....physics rocks! I just wish I understood it better, it was really one of my weaker points in college....it really is part of our everyday life.

I took a class in college called "Physics in Everyday Life". Basically it was physics w/o the math. It was the most interesting class I have ever taken.
Day 1 of class the prof. brings in a bunch of rubber balls and a container of liquid nitrogen. He puts the rubber balls into the liquid, freezes them, and then throw them at the wall. They, of course, shatter. Right then and there I knew this was going to be an interesting class.

Ev, I'm so glad the surgery went well!

D&D, DH works in collision repair and could tell you all kinds of things about cars. They are definitely designed to protect the driver. Whenever someone is about to buy a vehicle, they ask him how it holds up in an accident. He can let them know what is safest and what is most expensive.

Kitty, if your in the mood to do more laundry, I have 2 hampers full. ;)

We had a hearing to try to lower the appraised value on our house. Despite having an appraisal done in Jan, the county only went down $5000 of $20000 they over appraised. I told them that we could not sell our home for as much as they appraised it because nothing is selling. They said we all live in the same county pay the same taxes and are in the same boat. Then she recommended going down the $5000 which the board all agreed to. I left wanting to scream. They basically looked me in the eye and said tough sh** the county needs the money.

DH had a follow up to the hand surgery he had done in March. He's been having problems with his thumb and it looks like the same problem all over again. The doc gave him a steroid shot and he goes back in 6 weeks. I'm praying its not another surgery because he has no time off and the last two surgeries he's had haven't left us in the best position.

So, can I sneak into someone's luggage and go on vacation with ya'll.

Actually, Kerrie if I were anywhere nearby, I would love to do your laundry. I like to do all aspects of it except the putting away. Call me crazy, but I love to sort, spot treat, wash, hang, and fold. Its probably the only chore I do well.

Hope DH's hand feels better. And that you do too!

Good for you for fighting the appraisal of your house, but sorry the result wasn't as great as you had hoped. My county taxes are crazy high too, but its largely because we have tax-free for religious groups, so we have tons of those sort of facilitites here. We have the Orthodox Jewish summer communities, religious-based recovery centers, even an Ashram! Yes, they bring some revenue to the county, but for the large part, the local residents foot the bill for all the roads and government spending. Its very frustrating!

Laundry doesn't bother me too much, either. Except putting it away. And, that I never get a day off from it.

How long until everyone leaves for Hershey?

I kinda do commando laundry. I let the beast build up and then I attack. I have two washers and two laundry lines. But I have a perpetual pile of homeless clean laundry. The worst is pairing socks. I swear its the reason I'm in flipflops for 3/4ths of the year.

I'm leaving next Wednesday as early as I can get out of the house!

D..I wish more professors were like that. Its sad that in my college years, once the prof had tenure, all their passion for the subject flew out the window. I had some great art history professors, though. I would have liked zoology more if I were any good at dissection, and if we had completely skipped the bugs and reptile chapters.

Not into replites, Kitty? My oldest DD wants to be a herpetologist when she grows up. She'd actually like to start dissection now.

And, speaking of kitties and reptiles, there is a black and white cat that wanders the neighborhood. It was carrying a rather large lizard in its mouth the other day as it ran through our yard. So, I guess, some kitties really like reptiles.

I am so NOT into reptiles, which is interesting when I babysit for my nephew's animal collection. He has several types of reptiles that come stay with me in their terrariums and I'm terrified of them. They just look so mad all the time.

That's wonderful that your DD is into science and animals though! I can't even go through the reptile room at the zoo!

I've always been into the cute and fuzzy myself.

Pike, I'm not sure there's really a plan for Hershey. Last year, we just kinda milled around after the kids and chatted and spent time together. We did ride a few rides that was so much fun! Do you have a plan for the park? Are the kids coaster fans?

My sister is coming into town sometime tomorrow, and Quincy the day afte that. I'm supposed to be cleaning, but I'll do that later. I'm still in recovery from the 6 loads of laundry yesterday and I have two more to do today....

Don't really have a plan other then being at the park for when it opens. I've read that it's a good idea to hit the back of the park first and work your way to the front as most people do it the other way. Nathan and I are not big coaster fans but Brian and Tyler are. They'll probably do every single one there.

I hate laundry! I let mine build up too and then it takes forever to pretreat all the kids clothes.

Oh, I didn't realize someone was bringing a grill. Thought the hotel had one similar to those you find at picnic areas. The suite hotel we stayed at in the past had some grills and a picnic area so I just assumed this place did too.

So I go to file a claim on our car today. Luckily both the other driver and myself have the same auto insurance company. Got the estimate for the damage too. What appears to be very MINOR damage actually is costing about $2,200+ Jeeze, who would have tought a plastic bumper and dent in the door would be so much to repair. :sad2:

I do have to say though that I am very impressed with the engineering of these new cars. I got hit pretty hard and didn't move a cm and I could actually feel the van absorb the shock of the hit as it traveled like a wave from back to front. Kinda wierd. The guy at the auto body shop explained that newer cars are not designed with a single body frame any more. They are designed in parts (part metal w/ plastic in-between) to absorb more of the shock and then to crumble upon impact. I would have thought that was less safe, but who knew physics principles would work so well. :thumbsup2

I tried look for picnic area info on the Mainstay Suites website but didn't see anything. Jo and family was going to bring the grill the last I knew.

I'm always so amazed at how expensive it is to get a car fixed.

Sounds like you're going to be busy. Is this the same sis that graduated last week?
I know I should be cleaning and packing a few things for next week, but instead here I am. :surfweb: The kids are busy w/ games right now so I have to take advantage of that.

I always leave my packing to the last minute. I do plan on going shopping on Friday for any goodies we feel that we just need to have in the room with us. I might check out some shorts for Nathan as he's been having a growth spurt.

Sorry to hear about both DH having problems with his hand and being over appraised on your house.

DS9 is really into bugs. We have this bug book and I swear he remembers everything out of it. We'll see a bug outside and I will wonder out loud what it is and he's off finding the page in the book with that particular bug on it. I asked him if he was going to go to college to become a entomologist? He's like, "Whaaaat?".

Oooooh, an entomologist would be a wonderful career!

Hi everyone!

Just a quick hello! Not a lot going on today. I have to get a new distributor put in my van...always something! No worries though.

I can't wait to hear all about the TK meet. I swear I feel like the only one not going. Just know I will be there in spirit. I am really looking forward to meeting Jo and D at Disney though. I say the rest of you should come join us!! :yay:

Pepper- I'm not gonna be able to join them in Hershey either so I'm in the same boat as you. Don't worry, I can't wait to hear about it either!!! POST PICTURES!!!

Anywho, so I am EXTREMELY happy that Ben and I have finally found a new dentist!!! He had his initial appointment today and from what I saw the staff was absolutely AMAZING they made him feel so comfortable and they were very friendly. He goes back in 2 weeks for part 1 of his cleaning and I have my first visit there next week on the 23rd. Being OCD like I am, I'm led to believe that I have a cavity (Cavities + Braces= NO GOOD) so we'll see what's up with that. LOONG Story as of to why we needed a new dentist.

Well at least I won't be "home alone" :rotfl:

I am glad you found a dentist. I am such a big baby when it comes to the dentist. I have been needing to go back and get a crown put on my root canal for two months. I am a big chicken. :scared1:I know I need to go though.

You are right, braces and cavities are not a good mix. Ever felt metal on a cavity? :scared1: (that is the scared guy saying "OUCH")

I got a question for all you heading to Hershey. What time are you all heading to the park on Thursday?

And LITC, what time are you leaving to head home on Thursday?

I'm not to sure, not first thing. We will probably go over and do the Chocolate World stuff, and maybe the gift store that are free. Maybe we can see you Thursday?

THe restaurant idea sounds fine. However I am wondering if we'll all be able to mingle enough in a restaurant that night. Its so hard to get around to everyone even at 1 big table.
I can still do the grilling if we want to keep the picnic idea. That way we can maximize TKer time (as LITC put it) and keep it informal.

But, whatever y'all decide is fine with me. I'm just coming along for the ride on this trip. Want to do very little thinking.

Pikester - I'll check on the Andrew Jackson thing here. He'd love to see that I'm sure. :thumbsup2

See you all tomorrow!

I am kind of worried we wont be able to chat much at a restaurant either, but hopefully if we do that, we can do the "dessert party" at the hotel afterwards.

Hi all:

Well surgery went over well...just sitting and watching soccer today. Got my DH home to look after my every need :thumbsup2 ...and a friend dropped off dinner so he doesn't even have to do that.

MK ~ Alicia is gorgeous...what a cutie!

Kerrie ~ yeah for 2nd trimester!!

Hi JO, D&D LITC and Pike!

Can't believe Hershey week is almost here. It's going to be very quiet around here!

Hello back, and so glad the surgery went well for you. Get better soon!

Evening ladies!

So the Hershey plans are still being worked on and so far we have two ideas out there.

1) Eat dinner together at a restaurant.
2) Have a dessert and drinks party at the Hotel.

Possible 3rd idea is to combine the two and have dinner then the dessert party.

I vote for #3.

I say you guys should do #3!!!

Remember those of us left behind want pictures!!

Good morning ladies! It seems the lovely weather was short lived. Glad I got my laundry on the line yesterday. And yes, I still have to put it away....

I vote for something that will allow us to hang out and chat...whatever that may be. We may have to transfer locations, but that's fine with me....

Still no word from my sister yet....that is so typical of her. Our older brother is asking what the plans are ---ironically HE's the OCD in the family--and I still have nothing to say. I guess we're just winging it!

I have to go to the dentist too. I figure I should go after Hershey though!

OK, I'm here to put my vote in. I think we should meet at the hotel for around 6:30PMish to have drinks and dessert.

This way we can feed our families and get them taken care of before we all settle in to chat the evening away.

More then likely my DH will take the kids to Hershey for the Evening Park Preview after I introduce them to everyone and they have chatted for a little bit. The Preview doesn't start until 7:30PM so that gives you all a good amount of time to visit with them before I run them off so I can have you ladies to myself!

Pike, do you have anyone's number? M&N, D&D, and I will be around somewhere, and I think DL55 and her DH were planning on meeting up also. Depending on when LITC arrives, they may be with us. So just call/text whenever you want to meet and we'll let you know where we are--I"m not sure if we'll just pick up picnic stuff and be at the hotel or else go somewhere for dinner.

Depending on arrivals, it may be easier for us to eat at the hotel with takeout. The hotel is supposed to have a picnic area anyway. I guess we'll just figure it out!
