Pike, you make me feel like a bum. You've gotten so much done already! all I've done is complain and plan on doing something later....

Didn't mean to make you feel bad. Just happens to be the one day that I am actually doing something!

Bravo for you! I will do something! Sometime today....

Too lazy even to get my coffee....

oh, those are NOT what my firemen around here look like! yowzaa!
Ours don't look like that either.

I figure I handed out candy before I had kids and I'll be handing it out after they outgrow TT. Those years combined total longer then the years my kids will have been TT so they can BITE ME!

I wanted to share that I am going shopping with my Mom and my MIL this Saturday. This is the first time that MIL is going with us. We should have a great time!

I agree - BITE ME! :rotfl2: We passed out candy for 10years before we took our kids out for some. I think we've paid enough forward.
Glad that your MIL is getting out. How is she doing?

Well, I was wrong. You CAN get political calls on election day. :headache: Darn it- JUST STOP the MADNESS!!!!

Window guys still haven't arrived to put in the new CORRECT windows

. Got a call that they are on their way. Geeze! I can't wait until this is over and done!

Voted this morning. Hope everyone does. Let you voice be heard.

Really, I didn't have to do much research on these candidates here because they have held other offices or are incumbents. Knew their record w/o all the political ad crap.

OK just can't get motivated today...did a bit of computer stuff for work but now I'm curled under a blanket raiding the halloween candy.

I've found an excuse for my laziness. I have to return a package via UPS. And it doesn't open until 4pm.

I'm trying to motivate to go vote. Presently I'm waiting until the lunch rush goes through, then I may go for it.

I voted last Weds.:rolleyes1 The phone calls haven't been as bad as 2008. We unplugged the phone back then. :headache:

Very disappointed in my post Halloween candy buys. We only bought Milk Duds, Whoppers and candy corn taffy. There wasn't any good candy left!
They must be on to us.

Not to run our thread into a ditch..but why do both parents have to TOT with the kids? Only one of my parents would go, DH or I would go. The other half stayed home and passed out candy. They saw the kids before they were a mess and tired. ;) But I don't care what others do..we don't get kids at the door so no handing out candy anymore.

I can't help with the trick-or-treating. I only did it once and it was at MNSSHP a few years ago! But that would make sense....

I just voted!

Went to go buy Toy Story 3 on DVD. Was hoping to get it at Rite Aid, as its on sale there and I have $15 in their cash. It wasn't out yet. Bummed out.

Have a return via UPS and the UPS place around here is only open from 4-6. It took everything in me to get to the bank, pharmacy, and to vote. Its going to be tough getting out there again!

Afternoon!

DL55: When we first started taking the kids TT we both went so that we could see them have fun. We'd drive to my Mom's, MIL, Grandparents, Great Aunts, etc. When they got older we still drove to those places and then took them around town. There is a place in town called The Grove with street after street that are connected. You just park your car at one end and walk up and down all the streets. We see lots of people that we know whether we are TT at their house or just walking by them as they are walking with their kids. It's kind of a social thing here. It never crossed my mind to just have one parent get all the fun of taking the kids out while the other sat home and handed out candy.

Magi: Yay for getting out and doing your chores!

D&D: I've gotten a couple of calls today too.

So I found myself doing some research today on hotels to stay at for the two days that we will be in Orlando before our stay at Universal. For some reason I never noticed the Orlando Hotels and Attractions thread here on the DIS. Where the heck have I been! Any hoo, someone was posting about the best place to stay offsite at Disney/Universal for a couple of days and someone suggested Embassy Suites-Lake Buena Vista. Looks like a great hotel! The price is almost double of what I've got booked now but you get a free hot made to order breakfast and there is a managers reception evey night with free drinks and snacks. They have heated indoor and outdoor pools, free parking and from what I can tell no extra fees. It's close to Disney which we were hoping to visit DownTown and the Boardwalk. I guess I need to talk with DH about what his plans are for breakfast as maybe once the cost is added to the other hotel we are booked at that doesn't offer free breakfast it would bring the cost closer to the Embassy price.

Pike, I've stayed at Embassy Suites before (not that one) and really liked it. I liked having the space. We had one of those kitchenette, living room and bedroom deals. The couch opened up to another bed. It was nice.

Just got back from errands #2. I went out and got Toy Story 3 for me and Sound of Music for Mom's stocking. I mailed back my package and got cat food before my coupon expired today.

I had the saddest cart in the store. Cat food, tangerines, and candles.

Here's my new dilemma. I was all excited a few weeks ago because of some promo that gave me a free $25 gas gc. So I redeemed it today. Thing is, the choices were BP, Shell and Gulf. NONE OF WHICH ARE IN MY AREA! We have Citgo and Mobils mostly. I chose the Shell gc coz it was the prettiest.

I'm hoping to run into a Shell gas station on the way to Atlantic City in a few weeks, otherwise its useless to me! Ack! How silly is that? Free money that I can't use....

Evening ladies:

We always split the Halloween duties...DH stays home and I take the kids out...not sure how that came about, especially on days like Sunday when it was hovering around freezing...I'd rather have done candy duty.

Pike ~ Free breakfast definitely makes a difference, especially a hot one...that $20-30/day in savings....and free drinks & nibbles is even better!!

MK ~ So...any cute firemen??
Did you see Oprah earlier in the week...they had a reunion of the cast of the Sound of Music?
Only you would buy a CG based on how cute it looks!! ;)

I stayed at an embassy suites in Canada a few years back. It was really nice over-all. The "reception with drinks" was limited to 3 or 4 drinks, Like vodka/tonic,rum and coke and a few other options. Too bad I wanted a martini!!! Oh well.

Hey a drink reception sounds great right about now!

I spoke too soon....yet another election phone call!

I missed out on the Sound of Music reunion....I was so mad that I did!

Evening! Crazy cold here to go along with the crazy last few days I've had. Took the kids ToT on Friday night. We went with Curt's sister and it was the first time her daughter was able to go with other kids. She had a blast walking around and having people give her candy. Saturday, we had a small get together at our house. Just cooked up some BBQ and taco meat and chilled for the night.

Sunday, I took my nephew to our Halloween parade. My brother was moving out that day and I didn't want him there 1) to see it 2) in case anything happened since my SIL was also home. Curt helped my brother move while we were at the parade. Things went well but SIL called me late that night and I ended up on the phone with her until 3am. Thank goodness the kids didn't have school on Monday.

SIL went and filed the divorce papers today. And I found out she does not heat in her house right now. So, we made a trip over to her place with a big portable heater we have. Even though I had told her that I would help her anyway I could, she was still kinda shocked (Remember the dynamics in my family are totally messed up). I'm certainly not going to let her be cold in her place if I can avoid it.

Add in the usual crap with the inlaws and Curtis is worst than he's ever been, I feel like I need a long vacation somewhere warm and tropical.

Oh JO! So much going on in your world. It just seems like too much for you. Goodness you have a golden heart to deal with so much!

Now, that I'm done witching about everything........

Pikester, when we went to MI, we stayed in a Staybridge Suites. Sounds very similar to the Embassy Suites you are talking about. Absolutely beautiful and well worth the extra money we paid for the room. It was a 2 room suite with 2 queen bed in one room and sleeper sofa in the other room. The room with the sofa also had a microwave, mini-fridge, and a nice table for 4. The cook to order breakfast was great. You could get omelets, pancakes and I think waffles. The mini buffet also had scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, and a bunch of pastries. It was very good. The managers reception was even better. Nothing like free alcohol. ;) They had popcorn, nachos and veggies and dip. It worked well as a way to sit and snack while decided what to have for dinner.

DL55, we've always done Tot as a family too. Curt always works so many crazy hours so this is one night that we knew his boss would let him leave early. Those nights are very far and in between for us and we weren't about to give one of them up so one of us could stay home and hand out candy while our kids are young. This might have been our last year doing it since Jackie has already mentioned taking the younger ones out with her and her friends next year.

MK, free money you can't use? :scared1: Tell me it ain't so.

Ev, after the weekend I've had, those firemen sure did raise my spirits. Now we need a picture of a pool boy.

MK, just making through by witching to all of you. And Curt has been wonderful. Without all of you, I would have gone completely insane by now. I much prefer to only be half insane. :lmao:

I am so losing my budget touch. Realized earlier today that I was overcharged for Toy Story 3. Rang up 29.95 instead of 24.96 before coupon. I want my $5 dollars! (am I showing my age? Anyone remember Better off Dead and the paperboy?)

oh, JO--maybe you and DH could have a Halloween date next year!
