TKers...8 is NOT enough!

$5.00 is $5.00. And I'd be hauling my butt right back there to get it.

A date night????? What is that? Actually, that is something that I've been thinking a lot about lately. Curt's sister is really good with the little ones and she is one of the few people I completely trust with the kids. Her husband too but she is just awesome with them.

How many more days is it till T-day?

a little over three weeks!

My BF just gave me crap about the $5. I said, its my money! I want it back!

With everything going on and the holidays approaching, you both should have a date just to get away and relax with each other. Before it gets even more crazy.

I would tell your BF just to shush. He's a man and just doesn't get whole thing with getting the very best deal possible. And then being mad when they forgot to give you your good price.

Darn, I better get my butt in gear about the holidays. I wouldn't have given it a thought except SIL brought it up today. We did have everything worked out on how to split the holidays between our families. Back to the drawing board and time to talk to my brother. Looks like there will be some crafty scheduling here.

Maybe Curt and I will do something the weekend before the holiday. I know the week of, I'll be crazy busy no matter where we end up for dinner. I love prepping for the holidays, just hate the cleanup.

Pikester - I'll second (or third ) the Embassy Suites. It was great in MI. Well worth the money and I think we only paid $99/night there. :thumbsup2

JO - You definitely need to get away with hubby. If I was closer I'd take your kids too. (All of them;)) Take it from someone who just had a date night weekend (that we haven't had in YEARS) it was so worth it no matter what you do.

Kitty - Glad to see you finally got out to the polls. Now go get your $5 back!!!

Good morning TKers! Or should I say a very frosty good morning to ya! BRRRR is it cold out there. My thermometer is showing 25 degrees.

SIL went and filed the divorce papers today. And I found out she does not heat in her house right now. So, we made a trip over to her place with a big portable heater we have. Even though I had told her that I would help her anyway I could, she was still kinda shocked (Remember the dynamics in my family are totally messed up). I'm certainly not going to let her be cold in her place if I can avoid it.

Add in the usual crap with the inlaws and Curtis is worst than he's ever been, I feel like I need a long vacation somewhere warm and tropical.
Sorry to hear about your Brother and SIL. Sometimes there is no other step but one that will hurt for a little while.

I am so losing my budget touch. Realized earlier today that I was overcharged for Toy Story 3. Rang up 29.95 instead of 24.96 before coupon. I want my $5 dollars! (am I showing my age? Anyone remember Better off Dead and the paperboy?)

oh, JO--maybe you and DH could have a Halloween date next year!

 As soon as you said "I want my $5 dollars!" all I could think of was Better off Dead. "I want my $2 dollars!". --I agree $5 is $5. I'm thinking of returning a couple of times to Walmart because I can get them $2 cheaper per item at Toysrus. I'm going to Toysrus this weekend when my Mom and I go shopping so it's not like I'm going out of my way.

I think a date night would be good for you and Curt.:lovestruc

You are such a good friend!

Holidays are a double edged sword. I like the idea of holidays but living them is a whole other thing.

So I talked to DH about the Embassy. I explained to him my thoughts on why this is a better hotel; Free breakfast, Manager's reception, heated indoor/outdoor pools, sleeper sofa, near all the action, better reviews, etc and he agreed. Whoo hoo! So this morning I booked the hotel. I can cancel my ressie 72 hours before arrival so I should know by then if we can't go.

Ev, after the weekend I've had, those firemen sure did raise my spirits. Now we need a picture of a pool boy.

Ask and you shall receive.
To make up for the crappy day you had yesterday....

Good morning ladies! And good morning pool boy!

Brrr over here too. 28* right now.

Yeah Pike on switching hotels! Sounds amazing.

I'm so looking forward to the indoor pool at Harrahs in a couple of weeks. a balmy 82* sounds heavenly right now. even if I have to wear a bathing suit.

BF's birthday is coming up soon and I'm really at a loss. The kid just doesn't like to do much except watch crappy tv and movies. I'm really going to have to get creative on this one!

need coffee....

Thanks for eye candy. :thumbsup2

I think you'll like the Embassy Suites. Haven't stayed in the one in Orlando but have enjoyed others.

Thanks for your calm replies to ToT. ;) I can see where it can bring more family time. :)

Turned on the heat this am just to make sure all is well while we are gone. Highs have been in the 70s, lows in the 40s so not too bad yet.

How come my eyes go directly to his, umm..errrr, swim trunks?

Cuz the abs are like an arrow.
As the Magic 8 Ball says... All signs point to YES.

Did it suddenly get warm on this thread????

T-K-ers...come out and pla-ay. If you've seen The Warriors then you know what I'm talking about. Can you dig it!

Just had DS13 farting at me. What is with boys and their farts? :confused3

Evening!

Ev, thumbs up on the pool boy. Or is that something else up? :lmao:

Pikester, how's it hanging tonight?

DL55, the 70's? Oh, how I wish. I'm already bundled up in layers during the day because it's so cold here.

I'm trying to watch Monday's episode of Castle. I thought I had it recording but some how my DVR messed up.

Good morning ladies! its raining outside! And I'm so happy, coz that means its too warm to snow!

I think I'm allergic to cleaning. This Saturday we have the town dump, where we can dispose of our garbage for free. So I went to town yesterday. Clean, throw out, organize, recycle. But then I woke up early this morning with a terrible tummy ache, but its better now. Craving coffee but may not be the best idea right now.

I watched a few movies yesterday while organizing. I watched this one movie called Adam, about an adult man with Aspergers. It was really cute and sweet, but it didn't have a happy ending. I don't care what those snobby movie critics say, I want my happy endings (hee hee, I'll get my mind out of the gutter too).

I also watched a movie called Ondine. I had read some critical reviews of it, and it was far better than I had expected! And it had a surprise ending, which I liked very much. Its billed as a sci-fi/fantasy movie, but it really was just a sweet story.

Pumpkin cheesecake is back! I'm so excited. Have to wait until tummy feels better though.

Planning to head back to the store today to get my TOy Story price adjusted. Its been terrible not opening it yet.

Let's have a good day ladies!

Rainy morning out there today. I so want to go back to bed but since I'm up and dressed I suppose I better get something done today.

So my Mom and I have a small dilemma. We both received save the date cards for my Cousin's wedding. He will be getting married April 30, 2011 but he is getting married in Long Island, NY. Neither Mom nor I are a fan of driving that far. We would love to go but was hoping for a different way of getting there. I checked out the Dartmouth Coach bus but that drops us off at Grand Central so we would still have to find a way to get to the hotel that the bride has a block of rooms saved at. It's a Holiday Inn at 369 Old Country Rd, Carle Place, NY. I can just imagine how much a taxi would cost to take us to the hotel from GC are there any other ways to get there?

First off, I would check flying into JFK. THere may be some cheap flights. If you have to take bus to Grand Central, they will also have shuttle services out to Long Island which will be cheaper.

Are you sure that the bus goes to Grand Central and not Port Authority? Most buses go to PA. Regardless, I'd suggest getting from Grand Central or Port Authority to Penn Station. Its completely walkable, but you can either take the subway or a taxi. Penn Station is below Madison Square Garden, so its not hard to miss.

From Penn Station you can catch the Long Island RailRoad to the Carle Place station. If someone can't pick you up, there will be taxis there to get you to the hotel. It'll be much cheaper this way. A taxi will be crazy expensive...it would be cheaper to hire a service car than the taxi, at least its a flat rate and not metered.

The Dartmouth Coach website says that they will drop you off at Yale Club, located at 50 Vanderbilt Ave., adjacent to Grand Central Station.

Round trip from NH to the NY stop is $149.00 for an adult.

Amtrak would take me from Claremont, NH (about 15 minutes from my house) to Penn Station. I think it's $102 roundtrip but the website is acting up right now so I'm not sure.

If you took the bus to Grand Central, then you'd probably have to catch a taxi to get to Penn. But I would suggest going inside and enjoying just how beautiful it is. Penn is unremarkable.

Amtrak may be the way to go then. You'd just have to transfer from Amtrak to the LIRR, which is just around the corner, depending on where you need to go. But there's also a lot of cops there, who will help you find your station

Ooo...a wedding in NY. Now that sounds like fun.

I've got a wedding dilema myself and I need help from my TKers...

We've been invited to a family wedding. A cousin of my moms is getting married. This family is VERY well off financially and we used to be quite close to this family when I was growing up. Since then, they have become quite "showy" with their money, very competative, very fake and haven't invited my brother or myself to any other events - just my sister. (red flag #1) If you remember they were the ones who had the b-day party for my mom 2 years ago and didn't invite my brother or me. So now their youngest daughter is getting married and they all of the sudden know who we are and send us an invite. Its this big shindig too. YOu know, the kind where they get married in a church cuz it is big and beautiful but are not religious, 10 wedding attendants, open bar, fancy meal, etc. etc. Anyway, my mom is upset because I said we weren't going to go. My brother & family are going and my sister is one of the 10 attendants, so obviously she's going. I know its going to be nothing but a "competition fest/ money show" and I am not sure I want to continue to have these types of people in my life any more.

So here's my question to you... Should I suck it up, go out and find a totally smokin' dress, and just eat drink and be merry on their dime and play this competion game or should I just take a stand and not go (but risk alienating other family members cuz I didn't show up) ?
