tkd lisa's new years resolution (comments welcome)

Lisa, you are doing so well. I wish I had some of your will power. Keep up the great work! I hope you are having a great weekend! :sunny:

Wow! Way to resist those noodles!

Have a great day today! :sunny:

You will power makes me envious. Good for you!!! I love oriental food of all kinds. After living in Korea two years I am soooo hooked. Hope you have a terrific week and I hope your weather is :sunny: .

Marathon of journal updates here. My trip with the girl scouts went well. We saw a play set in Denmark in WW2. Amazing how little history they are teaching our kids these days. The 6th graders in my van didn't even know Hitler's name! Anyway, my exercise is really weak. I've got a nasty cough, and any exertion makes me hack really bad, so I didn't do any this weekend. Hoping that I feel well enough to get in the walking tonight and tomorrow. I basically slept all day yesterday, and I do feel a bit better today.

Thanks guys! I can sure use the sunshine and pixie dust. DD was sick yesterday, so I stayed home with her. Weighed in this morning at the same weight as last week. Given how little exercise I got this week, that's fine with me. My cough is just hanging there, about the same.

Hi Lisa!

Sounds like you and I have the same cough. I have a fit every time the air hits the back of my throat. Quite annoying! I hope that you're feeling better soon! ::yes::

Congrats on maintaining this week! The exercise will kick back in once the cough subsides, and then the pounds will starting coming off again.

Hope that you've had a wonderful weekend!

I sure hope you and your dd start to feeling better soon! At least your still trying to get your exercising in and you know when to stop. It's good that you dont push yourself too hard.

You're making really good food choices too! Keep up the good work there!

Hope you have a great and restful Sunday!:sunny:

:wave2: Hi Lisa,
Just checking in to see how your feeling. Wishing you a wonderful Sunday :sunny: !

Just a quick update. My DD is actually in the hospital in Washington right now. I was able to get into the local Ronald McDonald house, so I'm posting from there. She had a bad reaction to some medicine she's on (we just upped the dosage, and it triggered problems). She's on a closed unit, so I can't stay with her. But she's got the best in the country working with her. We're guessing she might be in through the week.

As far as WISH goes, this kind of stress (at least with me) makes for lots of weight loss, since I really didn't feel like eating! I weighed in Saturday morning when I went home to pack up for the stay up here, and I was down to 136. The hospital is about 1 3/4 miles from the Ronald McDonald house, and I'll probably walk the route at least one way each day (it's pretty safe during the day, but I won't do it when it's dark).

I'm going to try to get back on a normal routine for now. I'll have most of my mornings with time to kill, since all the things at the hospital are in the afternoon, so I"ll try to journal and DIS then.

I'm not even going to try to remember most of last week, but I"ll put in yesterday and go from there. Overall, I haven't eaten more than 3 carbs in any setting though.

Journal for 3/28:
am: 2 eggs, 1 slice toast (1C)
snack: strawberries/cantiloupe (1/2 C)
lunch: 1/2 peanut butter sandwich (1 1/2 C)
wheat nuts
pm: stir fried tofu w/ veggies
ice cream (1 C)

walked from the hospital, about 1 3/4 miles.

Oh Lisa, I'm so very sorry to hear about your dd!! My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family right now. Please keep us updated.

Your daughter is in my prayers as well, Lisa. Take care  .

Lisa, how frightening to have your DD in the hospital! :( I hope all goes well and she can be released soon! I'll certainly keep her and you in my prayers.

oh goodness lisa, i'm so sorry to hear about dd! and how hard it must be that she's on a closed unit so you can't stay with her! you seem to be very positive about it though, and using that walk to get some exercise in, i'm impressed. you could easily use this as an excuse to just give up on your food and exercise, but you're sticking to it! :bounce:

i hope that dd gets better soon

Thanks for the support guys. You didn't "see" me when she was first admitted. I was quite the basket case then. But thank God, she was released yesterday. The dr. said that she was just fine, and as long as she didn't get that medicine, she would be just as good as new! We're working with our local doctors to get her medicine adjusted.

We ate at Outback on our way home. As they were doing her spinal tap, DD was yelling out "when we leave here, I want to eat at Outback". So all the nurses and drs were talking about their favorite foods there to keep her focused on something besides her back. She was just so happy to have real food!

Journal for 3/29:
am: 2 eggs
1 granola bar (1C)
lunch: veggie soup (1C)
wheat nuts
pm: ceaser salad
steak
mixed veggies

No exercise (except up and down the stairs a bunch of times!)

Glad to hear dd is home safe and sound, Lisa. Hope you have a wonderful day :sunny: !

Today is weigh in day. I'm at 137 and a bit. That's a loss of 6 pounds. Well at least I got off my plateau, huh? And I get a new clippie. DD was able to get into the psychiatrist yesterday, and she was telling him that she had lost 4 pounds over the long weekend, but that I lost 6. She said "that's good for you though mommy!". Anyway, on to the journal.

am: 2 eggs, 1 slice toast (1C)
lunch: cottage cheese, peaches (1C)
cheese
grape tomatos (1C)
cauliflower
snack: trail mix (1C)
pm: flatbread sandwich from McD (2C)
cashews (1/2 C)

Total, 6 1/2 C

That sandwich was really icky! It was served cold! It certainly wasn't what I expected. Didn't exercise, since the psych appt was at 3:45 and the office is an hour away. By the time I ran my errands and made it home it was 8 and I had to get DS's homework going, and clean house. We've got scouts the next two nights, so I'm planning on the exercise starting back up on Friday. Maybe by then the last of the cough will be gone.
