Debating which would be my best route.....

Has anyone every compared these two??

We like to do a mix of both TS and QS (8 total, 3 Adults, 2 Disney Adults and 3 kids)......

Thanks!

We have done DDP for 7 years. Each year I run the numbers based on menu prices, where we plan to go and what I think my family will eat at each location. In March 2013 we will be doing the TIW card. I think the easiest way to decide what is best for you is just running the numbers. Keep in mind that there are very few QS locations on TIW.

We definitely save more using the TIW card. The DDP can save money for people who want to eat what is included in the plan but if someone doesn't fit into that mold, it's hard to see any savings.

It's best to check the menus and run the numbers for you and your family. Remember the TIW can be used at a lot of lounges and can be applied to alcohol and to add the tax to the menu prices when doing the comparison.

We also do better with the TIW. We eat at V&A once a year and that meal covers the cost of TIW. We are not dessert eaters so we save there too. And we like the discount on alcoholic beverages and save quite a bit there too.

I'm not a volume eater and depending on the restaurant I'm happy with an appetizer as my meal. Plus 9 out of 10 times I'm not going to eat dessert. So on the DDP most nights my dessert would have one bite out of it. A complete waste. I also like a glass of wine with dinner so I do believe when running the numbers that we will come out even if not ahead of the game with TIW.

Good luck and enjoy whichever you decide.

We've always just done the QS dining plan but looking to do a bit more this year. I'm always crunching numbers and my kids are always looking menus... and I eye the prices. We have a spreadsheet going.. I'm such a dork. Anyway, we still have a year to go... Hopefully I'll figure out the best thing for us before then. My biggest hurdle for now would be my parents. Every other year, they join my kids and I and bring alone my neice and nephew. My dad loves the idea of not caring what he orders because he's a stickler for price just like me. But I'm scared that we'll be paying more for the DP just for his convenience. If we do DP they all order whatever they want. When OOP its like we're always worried about cutting corners. ...Ice water here, sharing desserts there... Gonna keep at it and hopefully we'll figure it out.

So glad to hear everyone's opinions! Will take as many as I can get! :)

Same here, we almost never get dessert(isn't that what frozen Mickey Heads are for?) and we enjoy a cocktail or wine with dinner so TIW is the way to go for us. We got back a couple weeks ago, 2-adults, 2-Disney Adults and without even planning many TS we saved over $200 over 7-days. As someone mentioned not many QS are on TIW and we did quite a few this trip, with maybe 6 TS.

If you intend to dine exactly as the DDP suggests (there is no wiggle room anymore) and plan to spend all your credits properly, then the DDP is going to win out. (Also, if you're going to do a shorter trip with fewer people, as you need to spend roughly $500 on food to make TiW start saving).

If you prefer TS to CS and prefer to order different from what the DDP suggests (skipping desserts, apps for entrees, non-participating restaurants, alcohol, etc), and if you plan to spend at least ~$500 (combined) on food, then TiW is going to win out.
