Unfortunately living in a bubble is not an option and no matter how hard you try the Olympics are such a hot topic that someone, the news, internet etc. is bound to spoil it.

Well, I've avoided the tv, the radio, any news internet sites all day today. I've even encountered several "spoiler" threads and managed to not open them. It's when I don't get the choice not to open something that pisses me off. There were already several threads on this subject on the CB. Why didn't the OP post on those? This thread was the ONLY one that spoiled it for me.

Ok, it is obviously a fun, light matter to some people.

But I'm very disappointed. I didn't even come to the "Community Board" folder. All I did was go to the first page of "The DIS Discussion Forums." This page shows the most recent thread title of every board. There it was -- and I had been avoiding any Olympics news all day.

I understand that there are "more important things to get wound up about." But that misses the point. This was unnecessary for the OP knew it was easily available to anyone who simply came to the DIS boards.

Beth76 -- I agree with you. It was totally unnecessary.

ETA: and this isn't from someone who coudln't care less.... I, too, was interested and watching tonight to see what happened. But it's just sooooooo not that big in the grand scheme of things (life).

I am truly sorry your day was ruined by this. I guess if I felt that passionate about the Olympics I would be upset too. As to why the OP did this? Only he/ she truly knows. Perhaps they are new and as someone else mentioned couldn't wait to share the news. Perhaps to tick people off which they have obviousely done. Whatever their reasoning they have been truly slammed and if I were them I would probably never come back after all the hateful things people have said. If it was done on purpose than yes that is wrong. However if it was a mistake then that is forgivable. We all have made mistakes. We will never know the true reason unless the OP has the courage to come back.

I think that it is really mean to post a headline like this. I haven't been paying attention to th eOlympics so I was not bothered so much about the spoiler, but what really bothers me is that this OP has ruined it for those that wait four years to sit and watch with anticipation the wonderful athletes of our country! I really hope that this wasn't true!!!
