Does anyone have opinions or information on how easy it is to bring a 4 month old baby on a 7 night cruise?

No tips, just tons of good wishes for you and your family. Went right to my email when I saw this hoping to hear from you. Mailed you back. Congrats!

definitely drink alot, perhaps a xanax or 2 ....LOL, just kidding

You will have a wonderful time bringing baby on the cruise!!

So happy to get your congratulatory email. You guys must be on cloud nine.

Our dd was almost 8 months when we took her and I think it would be easier with a littler one since you dont have to worry about bringing babyfood and stuff.

Recommend a veranda since you will spend a little more time in the room.

Hey Ragdoll, hi to you!

Hi grlzmom! There is already a thread for the 9/18/04 Eastern. You and ambermomma need to add your names! Getting excited already!

don't worry----it'll be a breeze compared to bringing along an older infant. just take advantage of the times she naps and have fun.

i found it easy to cruise (and travel in general) with our daughter when she was only 4-5 months old. it's great because they sleep a lot at that age. i don't know about your child, but mine was always happy to sleep in her carseat/carrier, so that made it easy to tote her around as well.

for us, the worst age was around 17-18 months, travelwise. at that age, she was very mobile, but didn't quite "get" everything that was going on. especially on a cruise - all she wanted to do was climb up and down the stairs!!!!!!! sigh.

she is 28 months old now, and is quite a traveler. and while she still enjoys climbing stairs (we dont' have any in the house, so i guess it's a novelty for her), she also enjoys other facets of a vacation. we just returned from a weekend at WDW and she enjoyed all the shows, plus the parade and fireworks. whew!

ok - didn't see this tip...bring diapers with you. They are VERY expansive in the ships shops.
I'd also suggest a comfortable (small) carrier/stroller...so, you can allow your 'little treasure' to nap while you enjoy a table by the pool, diner - and other areas.

best wishes...enjoy this time - it goes by too fast!!

I cruised with a four-month old (and a 15-month old and a three year old and a five year old). She was very easy to deal with - a lot better than the 15 month old. (He wanted to go in the pool, but Hannah was too young to want that.) Her parents had a stroller and brought their own diapers. (My parents bought them for her before boarding, since her parents flew down and had enough luggage with three kids as it was!) They got a Diaper Genie from the ship.

But, then again, there were 2 sets of real grandparents, one set of surrogate grandparents and three aunts and an uncle to hold her, so...

d'Isigny - some simple math: the more expansive the diaper, the more poop/pee contained...

Definitely pack the diapers! This is a great age to travel with because they sleep most of the time and it is SO much easier than an older baby. We took our son at 13 months on the cruise (and his first trip to Disney World was at 3 months.) Not only can you take them in the carrier/stroller asleep most places, Flounders Nursery is fantastic.

Enjoy your cruise!

I tookmy baby at just 4 months and the only difficulty was that I was still breast feeding and so had to go to the room alot(I was never comfortable doing that in public!) Also, on the cruise she started not only crawling but pulling herselve up with the chairs.-but we had a great time and sure you will too.It can be very stressful at that age!!

becky23--you're baby started crawling at 4 months????? And pulling herself up?? I was all excited when mine was rolling over at 4 months!! She's 5 1/2 months now and still no crawling--and wasn't really expecting her to for another couple months!! When did your baby start walking???

We took our dd on her first cruise when she was 10 mon old and i was 6 mos pregnant. Bring a stoller you will use it alot and a comfortable baby carrier. WE also used flounders nursery. the staff was great although our little one did not want to sleep there so we were paged to return to the nursery to get her. She was upset. They are great about paging if they need you. With a baby that young I would use the nursery atleast once so you could have a nice meal at Palos. Enjoy and don't forget the baby wipes and quarters for the laundry!::MinnieMo
