Is there a parade prior to the fireworks? If so, any tips on getting good seats for the parade or good locations to look for a spot? Thanks!

Welcome to the dis Kim.

Main Street Electrical Parade (MSEP) precedes Celebrate the Magic projection show and the Wishes fireworks show.

For the parade, I prefer Frontierland and Liberty Square. But those are not the best locations for the other two, The many areas in the remodeled hub area are preferred for the other two. Do you feel you have a priority of one over the other, parade vs. projection/fireworks.

Thanks! I was leaning more towards the actual parade than the fireworks. This will be our first trip so I'm open to any suggestions though. :)

If you are planning on leaving the park right after Wishes, then I would head back down Main Street on either side. Less crowded and good view of the parade. You can also see the castle show in the distance. Plus you get a jump on the exit rush. If not, then I second frontier land or liberty square. There are some walls to sit on or a pair of rocking chairs in front of the hall of presidents. Grab a sleepy follow waffle and chill out.

I STRONGLY recommend that you stay for the Celebrate the Magic show and Wishes (the fireworks). They are spectacular IMO and a must-see. You won't be sorry.

Have a great trip!

The Electrical Parade is a classic, a must see on any WDW trip. Stake out a good spot in Frontierland about 30-45 minutes before the show. One of the best spots is right in front of the Country Bear Jamboree. You can even take turns seeing the Bears while leaving someone in front to hold your parade spot. And the parade will basically pass right in front of you if you grabbed a spot behind the ropes.

After the parade, you can follow the crowds milling toward Main Street, and get there in time to see some of the projection show and all of the fireworks. You won't have an ideal view, but you will have squeezed it all in.

If you try to hold a spot around Main Street, you might have to stake it out an hour or two in advance. People grab those spots long before the ones in Frontierland or Liberty Square.

Lots of good ideas here, Kim. If the parade is primary, Frontierland or Liberty Square. Looks from your avatar you may have young ones. A little bit more distant from the fireworks might be desirable, the little ones sometimes get scared of the big booms. Where you are in FL or LQ for the parade would keep you a bit distant from the fireworks as compared to the hub or Main Street area.

Here is a map to help you locate areas.

And get ready to make many of those first time, life long family memories. :tink:
