Hi! We leave Saturday for our first trip (36 years old and never been!!!! eeek!) with a 5- and 3-year-old. This will likely be our only trip (so I'm trying to make it count!)...because of that, I was wondering if anyone had any tips for getting selected to participate in the Enchanted Tales with Belle? Or do most people (kids) who raise their hands get selected?

Have your kids be ready with a load roar to get the Beast part. I think the rest are pretty much just given out, all kids get a part if they want one.

I think most of the children who want to participate receive a part, but depending on how big the show is, they may just end up as a plate or a teacup.

My daughter (almost four at the time) was selected twice in one trip to play Beast. Once she was wearing a Minnie Mouse costume and once a Snow White dress ( I think it helps to be age 3-5 and be dressed in a Disney costume). She is also very enthusiastic. She roared very loudly when they asked the kids to roar.

My kids have been picked a few times to be the beast (and sometimes the salt shaker, haha). For being picked to be Beast, they need a loud (but not screaming) roar and be able to do it right on cue when the CM asks. That will stand a better chance of getting picked.

But... there is a part for every child that is interested. Not all as "glamorous" as the Beast (since they dance with Belle), but for the little ones being a salt shaker -- or Chip is exciting enough.

My daughter has been Mrs. Potts twice... I guess shes very bouncy when they ask her to hop :mickeyjum

The CM will ask if there is anyone else who would like a part before they begin. No one gets left out.

My two DD's were shy and did not want a part at first. Half way through the "show" they wanted to join in. One of the CM's noticed and brought them up front to be "villagers", so they still were able to participate.

It's a relaxed, small-group setting, and everyone seemed to enjoy it. :)

My g-baby was 3 last year and when they asked the kids what a horse says she said NEEIIIGGGHHHHH! really loud and they picked her to be Phillipe. She's super tiny and I don't think they expected that noise to come out of such a little one.

I get picked as the wardrobe every time because I can hit the high note lol. Can your kids sing?

Last year when we went, we had a seriously timid group of people. They practically had to beg people to participate. We had adults as the guards, Beast, and my dad played Maurice! I think I ended up as the wardrobe or Mrs. Potts (can't quite remember). My daughter played Chip - I just kind of raised her hand for her and encouraged her to go (she's very shy but told me she really wanted to do this) because I knew she would want a picture with Belle at the end. In our case, Belle did take pictures with children not in the show, but I've heard that's not always everyone's experience.

I was 19 years old at the time, I just enthusiastically raised my hand and stepped forward when the CM asked who wanted to play what. Everyone who wanted a role got one. If you weren't one of the main characters, you were one of the kitchen utensils/tools. I would just suggest your kids make an effort to step forward/raise their hand, otherwise the CM won't notice your kids and might pick someone else. Either way, they will get a part like I said, just not the main ones if they don't make an effort. Hope this helps!

the they have picked all the parts they will ask if any one else want to be something so even if they do not get a speaking part they can still do something

The easiest is to go later at night when there is a smaller group, but if your kids are not night owls, that may not work for you. Outside of that, try to get your kids in the front where they can be seen (in a nice manner- because CMs will notice if you are not being nice to others). Then be sure your kids know to be loud and ham it up when they ask who can hop, roar, neigh etc. My DD has been Beast, Mrs. Potts (more than once- she can bounce), I think she was the Phillipe once, and she has been the salt or pepper shaker or utensils which are the everyone else roles several times. For Beast, we were later at night and there were no little boys in our group and she roared so loud (roar, not scream) they could not help but notice her. Mrs. Potts, she bounced her little heart out. She has also bounced her little heart out trying to be Mrs. Potts and then been a left over utensil, so you just never know. As long as their raise their hands when they are asked if anyone else wants to participate, they will be in it as a utensil of some sort.

I wouldn't be too worried.
Anyone that has wanted a part has gotten one when I've done it.
Even my dad that was not trying to volunteer got picked to be a knight lol.

DD was maurice and DS got the role of beast. We had do BBB right before this and he happened to pick the blue and gold cape with the beast on it. When he roared he used his whole body too with hands and stepping forward. They do try to let every kids participate in some way.

I was just selected as one of the knights last week. Not usually my thing but they got me before I could hide in the back! :rotfl:

So fun!

As other have said, any child who wants a role will get one! My 5 year old was determined to be the Beast on our last trip, so we practiced roaring before...and she did get selected as Beast! I'm sure her roar had a lot to do with it, but possibly helped that she was wearing a Belle dress?
