Tips for getting cheapish rental van

We are already thinking about making a trip to WDW next summer. And none of us have a problem staying off-site. However, as a family of 6 we would need a rental van. And I never seem to find any good deals on vans.
When I have priced it out before the cost of the van usually eats up all the money we would save by staying off-site.

Can you all please give me some tips on how to find a good price? How far out should I start seriously looking? Is it usually cheaper to get a van from one of the DTD hotels or the company by the Swan and Dolphin instead of at MCO?

Join the Flying Blue program (it;s a free frequent flyer program ffered by KLM and Air France). Then use their contract ID at National. You'll see huge savings on all vehicles, including Mini Vans. When we rented one over Easter last year, we threw on a Mousesavers coupon and ended up paying under $300 for the week.
I'll see if I can pull up the contract ID for you...you can check the prices that way. If you see a good price, lock it in (just in case they discontinue the program). You don't need to give them credit card info and you can cancel if you find something better.

Checking for a week in mid July, it quotes $340 (after all fees and before applying a coupon).
This would be for a rental picking up and dropping off at MCO.
Also, this contract includes all those pesky charges like supplemental liability and facility charges.

Thank you so much for this tip. There are 14 of us traveling and we were going to rent 3 cars now we can rent the 15 passenger van. WAA HOOO!!

Drat. Thought the KLM/Flying Blue code might be a good option for us for Christmas week. Cheapest larger vehicle is a midsize SUV and its over $580 . Ah well, it was worth a look.
