Tips for Driving Around the "World"

It's perfectly fine that you are able to separate one activity from another, but it's also perfectly fine the PP wants to enjoy the 1 1/2 hours of wine and desserts. I say "kudos" to the PP for being responsible and planning ahead and knowing he might be above the legal limit so he's taking the bus.

I know a PP stated not to use GPS. Anyone know if there an app that has good directions? I'll be onsite for my stay in Oct, but we'll have a vehicle and planned on driving to parks except for MK.

We use a GPS every time and find it very easy. Mousesavers has an awesome POI file that you can download to your GPS that has EVERYTHING in it.....parks, resorts, restaurants, car rentals, gas stations, drug stores, EVERYTHING. Very easy to use. Reminds me I need to download the newest version for our upcoming trip! We stayed onsite last trip (always offsite before) and use Disney transportation, and DH said never again lol! Lots of time spent waiting for buses and we like the freedom to venture offsite to Dunkin' Donuts in the morning before the parks :lmao:

It's not going to the park that's the issue. It's trying to get anywhere near either the monorail station or the ferry dock at closing. Only then to have to get in line for the tram. Then you need to wait in the traffic to get out of the parking lot. The bus lines are long, too, but at least it isn't a line to get to a line. You didn't succeed.

Is there a sidewalk from the MK to the TTC? I wanna say I saw a pathway while on the bus back to the resort. But I could just be delirious after a day of magic

Or is the pathway a dead end in that direction just like the path to the grand floridian

I would think the walk would be quicker than the being rounded up like cattle, yeah it's a bit of a hike but what's another mile :)

When we're leaving a park, I'm pretty much a zombie. I'm tired, hot, sore, and ready to crash. I'm tired of walking, but at least with a car we're in control of getting our party back to the resort rather than waiting in a long line waiting to board a bus where I may, or may not, be able to sit down.

Those younger and/or in better shape, or with more effective painkillers;) may find their results will vary. :earsboy:

There is a pathway from Contemporary to MK. I think I walked it in maybe 10 mins. There is also a path from TTC to Poly...I have not experienced that one yet.

I actually do not have a GPS, but usually just use the navigation system on my phone. It works great in other places, but have never tried in WDW. I thought I read something about people downloading an app. Just on these boards a lot so can't remember where I read it.

We have been driving for years, rental car or relative who lived in the area. Now we have taken to driving to Orlando, so we have our own car. Its SO much easier for us. I'm not a fan of waiting in line, I'd rather be moving - walking to the car, taking the ferry to the car, etc.

And when you sit in your own seat in the car with no one pushing up against you or inadvertently shoving their bags in your face - priceless :)

No, it's a dead end both ways. The path ends at the canal if heading toward the Grand Floridian, and there's no sidewalk past the Contemporary going the other way.
