Tips for All-Star Movies

We've just decided to go to WDW this June! We went in July 2003 and I didn't think we'd be going again this soon. I know this is not soon for a lot of you! (And I'd go twice a year if I could!)

Our last trip, we stayed off property. This time, we're staying at All-Star Movies. I'm wanting to know if there are any tips about this resort that anyone can give me so that we can make the most of our stay. Thanks!

It's been awhile since we stayed there, but we really loved it both times that we did. We've stayed in both the 101 Dalmatians & Toy Story sections. I think both of these sections are great if you want to be close to the main building (food court, bus stops, etc.), but don't want to pay the "preferred" price per night. None of the rooms are very far out, so I don't recommend paying for a "preferred" room.

If anyone in your family drinks coffee/pop - definitely invest in the refillable mugs. We've gotten them for all of our resort stays & have never regretted them. It's great to have your mug to go refill in the evenings after a long day at a park. They're also great souvenirs once you get home. :)

The pools here were fun - I believe you can also walk over to the other 2 All Star Resorts & check out their pools.

If you're looking for a quieter room, request a top-floor room - that way, nobody is above you jumping around on the floor.

Hope this helps some - have a great trip! :teeth:

We just stayed last month in the Mighty Ducks section and the rooms had been newly renovated - very fresh. Mighty Ducks is also where the quiet pool was and it was big, and had it's own laundry right there. Only a couple minute walk to food court & non-preferred in rate. We also had a top floor room and happy that we did.

If you are in the Mighty Ducks buildings, the food court at the All Star Music is closer than the Movie's food court.

There are actual showers in the laundry room at the Goofy Pool. Great if you spend your last hours in the World swimming at the pool.

It is an easy walk over to Music and Sports. Great way to spend some down time relaxing and checking out the other hotels.

If you drink beer, get it in the gift shop instead of at the pool bar. Much cheaper!

We loved Movies when we stayed there last fall! It was fun, bright, and cheerful. We stayed in the Toy Story section, which my almost 4-yo ds loved. Food court was good, we only used the main pool, but it was fine. There were a few nights we rode the bus back for All Star Music instead of Movies, much less crowded, and it only took a few minutes to walk back over to Movies.

We just stayed at Movies in the 101 Dalmations section and found it more than adequate for our needs. I must say that we were at the parks at opening and stayed until closing each day, so literally, all we did at the resort was shower and sleep. We didn't use the food court except for a single cup of coffee for myself each morning--be sure you're going to use those souvenir mugs at 11.99 a pop enough to make them worth the money. I'm glad we passed on those.

I would place the room level at about Holiday Inn or Ramada Inn level although you can tell that they get used a lot. I found the beds comfortable. I've spent nights in much more expensive hotel rooms with beds that were less comfortable. A small tip for housekeeping kept us supplied with extras in towels and the Mickey Mouse soaps.

I'd definitely stay there again as long as I intended to make park hopping the major reason for my stay. If I intended to relax more around the hotel, I'd probably look for an upgraded place. It is a hub of activity in all the public places with lots of kids. But, despite being full of groups of high school kids--we had no problems with late night noise. We might have gotten lucky on that!

I love ASMo. We stayed in the Woody building facing Buzz first floor and it was perfect. Close to everything and standard rate. If you want a certain room/section request it 4 days before arrival. Pool area is great for kids and adults. This year we are trying POP or AKL if we get a good non AP rate.
