In july of 2014 there is a conference at the Hyatt Regency that I will be attanding. Since it is by Disneyland I figured I would also turn it into a family vacation and visit Disneyland for the first time. Also I would have to take the kids since my husband has to work and wouldn't be able to watch them. My sister lives in N. CA and will be with to help watch the kids. The conference starts on a wed. and ends on sun. I would come early and check in on mon. Then we were going to stay and do 4 days at the parks. My big think is finding a hotel to accommodate our needs. I have 7 children and 3 have Fragile X (which is like autism along with othe delays). So I need like an apartment or maybe even a house. That way we can feed the kids while at the conference and have things for them to feel at home. What are some suggestions you could offer for places to stay? I know its early but with how big this trip will be I am saving money now and want to have an idea on cost.

I did a small search and I found that the Carousel Inn and Suites across the street from the resort and they have a "Connecting Suite" that houses up to eight people, which sounds perfect for you. Four queen beds, two baths, a fridge and a microwave. It's pretty pricey, though. I'll leave a link for you to check out:

I also found another hotel that houses big families. The Residence Inn Anaheim Maingate has a suite called the "Penthouse Suite" and it houses up to eight people. The rooms look pretty spacious and they come with kitchens, I believe. Here's a link:

Hope I've helped!:)

Agree with the recommendation for the Residence Inn Maingate. The suites are nice, the staff is very helpful, they are on a good ART route, and the staff will do your grocery shopping for you (you drop off the list in the morning and come back to a stocked refrigerator). If your conference is at the OC Hyatt, that also is a well liked hotel.

Thanks. I wish the first ones had full kitchens cause I really like the bunk beds. Now the second one is really nice. this gives me some great choices and an idea on price.

Does anyone know of a reputable vacation home rental that I could look at also?

I know there will be discounted rooms for the hotel hosting the conference for the attendees. None of their rooms have kitchens. :(

There are several hotels right next to the OC Hyatt, one of which is the Embassy Suites. Would connecting suites work for you? I'm not sure if any of the ES suites have full kitchens, but you could call them to ask.

If you are located near south or orlando florida virgin America has a non stop to la. They have the tvs in the seats too. I know 2014 is a long time from now but I was able to get 5 of us for $1250 on virgin.

Flying is definitely out. Well I did look into it but me and seven kids on an airplane oh the anxiety is kicking in thinking about it. I looked at our traveling route and I will be driving to Dallas, TX to drop off my mom and then pick up my sister at my aunts house. From there my sister will travel with me the rest of the way. Then I will just switch on the way home.

The Desert Inn and Suites has suites, but I don't think they have full kitchens. I know that there are some town homes across from DTD, but I am not sure how people rent them. Sorry!

Desert palms has full kitchens in their suites if that is an option. I think it is the Sahara suites?

Thanks for all the tips. I called residence inn and there is another one a mile away right next to the hotel the conference is at and its cheaper. I can save close to $1000 staying here.

Just one more thing. I am sure the neighborhoods in this area are safe. I have some friends staying at candy cane inn so they will be a mile away from the conference hotel. She was wondering about the safety. They will be coming from australia and want to avoid a rental car. Some nights the conference sessions will be over late.

Your friends have nothing to worry about. They'll be safe. I've walked around the area at the wee hours of the morning a couple of times. They'll be fine.:)

Someone from DIS has stayed at a Disney Theme House before. Here is the link:

This house is also on Tripadvisor: http://www.tripadvisor.com/VacationRentalReview-g29092-d1947420-Disney_Theme_Home_where_the_KIDS_want_to_stay-Anaheim_California.html

Some people said they use homeaway.com to book rental homes. You can do a search on the board.

Hope it helps!

Thanks. I will look into this and see. I like to use a reliable place that others have used. I like a house option cause it would give the kids a wider variety of things to do and easier for my sister to keep an eye on when they are in a fenced in yard.

Thank you that's what I told her but wanted to be sure. I figured the area would be safe since lots of people walk to and from the parks.

Your welcome. It's understandable, your friends want to make sure they're going to be okay. You're right, plenty of people walk around very late at night, or early in the morning.
