I posted this in the tipping thread over on the restaurant board, but I am not getting any responses. So I thought the budget board would have some opinions on the subject.

When you go to a beer cart or outside kiosk and order an alcoholic drink do you tip?

Not usually. I might, if the server had been unusually helpful, or if it were my second or third trip to the well. Ahem!

Yes, after working in service type jobs since age 13, I am a tipper:thumbsup2

My sis and best friend both work at country club bars, they sometimes have to work the beer carts and make a ton of money those days:goodvibes

I usually drop $1 for 2 beers.

I always think to myself how lucky they are to work there instead of soda stand...LOL...kinda not fair when you think about it!

Yes, to a mixed drink!

I have never tipped at the Kiosk. I assure you I am not a cheap skate I have just never thought of it. I was suprised on how many said they do. :confused3

depends. do you mean the ones in epcot? i did not because all they did was pour a glass, it to me was the same thing as serving a soda or a dole whip.

if its a small bar/kiosk type thing in a park or event and it is more like bartending with making cocktails then yes.

If there is a tip jar, yes. Now my dh, he always does, tip jar or not.

No. Never even thought of it.

I thought CMs were not supposed to take tips unless they were housekeeping, wait staff in a restaurant, or bell service people.

Gee, I never even thought to tip at the food carts (I assume you mean like the beer carts at Universal or the food kiosks at F&W at Epcot), and I do get drinks from some. I also realized I have never tipped for a drink at a CS place at Epcot, either. Do they have tip jars and/or expect tips?

Housekeeping is NOT a tipped position either, not according to Disney policy, that's why they are paid more than waitstaff and Bell staff.

I have never seen a tip jar anyehere you buy alcohol at Disney, but I usually purchase mine with a meal or at the Wine shop in Germany.

Thanks everyone! I can't for the life of me remember what we do. I think I remember tipping, but then the more I thought about it it kinda seems silly to tip at an outside beer cart.

I think I am going to stick to:

If it is an outside cart = no tip
If it is an inside bar = tip

I tired to tip at the beer stand outside the United Kingdom once. They were ADAMANT that they could not accept it or they would be in big trouble. ANd then again on my last visit they were just as adamant with the person in front of me who got several beers. The guy even pointed out that if they worked in the bar next door they got tips. They said that they were in a "different position" so I assume they meant they were paid full fare and not partial for tips. (Plus it is easier then working a bar. You don't have to know how to mix drinks to pull beer. I can pour a great beer, but about the only two drinks I can make are Gin and Tonic and a Screwdriver LOL!)

Now it's possible that since that stand is RIGHT beside the check in counter for the resturant there is a much bigger risk a manager might see them so they "play by the rules" but if that's the rule there then..

no.

Last time I got a Grey Goose slushie. I don't think there was any alcohol in it :confused3

We always use the room key charge, and if the receipt they give us has a place to add a tip we will, otherwise no. I've noticed that at special events when they have an outside bartender setup (like outside Tune-In for Star Wars weekends) there is a tip spot. For the kiosks there isn't. :thumbsup2

I don't drink so I don't have any personal experience with your question, but my parents are retired in Florida and have some friends who do seasonal work at Universal Studios. One of them works one of the kiosks that you are talking about, and he gets LOTS of money in tips.

Kiosks no, bars yes. Different pay scale for the workers, ie:bars depend on tip for wages and have a way to report them for taxes, kiosks do not.
