Sunday 12th August
The plan today is for MK so Ill see what the troops are like when they get up. Its another blazing hot day in the desert with the sun shimmering over the plains and a dust storm blowing up in the distance. OK so its not quite like that but you get the idea that its hot.
We are all up and ready for action around half 9 and set off for the Magic Kingdom. It doesnt take long to get there and despite DSs moaning we go over on the ferry, which makes a nice change from the Monorail. Were in the park just after 10am and as is one of our traditions, its hair cut at the barbers day. DD and DH go to line up at the barbers while DS and I took the camera bag we found to guest services and handed it in. Id already called the number we found inside the case and left a message telling them where the bag would be so hopefully they were reunited with their camera bag.
We were out of luck at the barbers with 6 people in front of us but both DS and DD wanted to get their hair cut so we waited. I looked round for the posted wait time and some sort of fast pass machine but there was no sign of either. It was probably about an hour before we got seen and it makes me laugh that they wouldnt wait that long for a ride but would to get a hair cut.
DS got a number 1 and hold the sprinkles
While DD got a trim with sprinkles and gel and some special castle bits.
Both of them were really pleased with their hair dos and even I got a trim while we were there. Surprisingly DH had nothing done although they did offer to polish his head for him.
As it was getting on past 11am we decided to get something to eat and made our way to Cosmic Rays where we shared 2 double hamburgers. Finally we were able to get to some rides and the kids started off with Indy Speedway, which was as noisy and smelly as usual. From there they did Astro Orbitor and as it was so hot we had a frozen coke to cool down afterwards. Next we did Space Mountain with a child swap and when the kids rode for the second time the ride broke down and they switched the lights on which meant they could see what everything looked like.
We went on the Transit Authority next and as Space Mountain was still experiencing technical difficulties we also got to see it with the lights on as TA goes through some of the ride. It was a treat to see this ride naked and we took a few pictures (which came out crap so I wont post any). We finished up in Tomorrowland with Buzz and for once DS got a better score than DD.
We walked through to Fantasy Land and went on Winnie the Pooh, the YOAMD crew were at the exit telling people that theyd won a dream but unfortunately by the time we got off the ride theyd buggered off somewhere else. That was as close to a dream we got this whole trip.
The kids rode the carousel and we walked in to Philharmagic with no wait. At DSs request we did Its a small world or Its a dork world as DD calls it. We were getting tired from the heat and decided to call it a day. The kids had Mickey Ice-creams while DH and I had an orange swirl ice-cream in Adventure Land. We finished up with the Jungle Cruise where the jokes were as lame as ever. We trudged wearily out of the park and made out way back to the car. As you can see the heat has totally got to DH and fried what few brain cells he had at the start of the holiday.
We stopped for dinner in the Golden Corral knowing that once we got home we wouldnt want to come out again. We went for a swim when we got back and that refreshed us but we still didnt fancy going out. For us thats the one downside of not staying on site once we get back to the villa we just dont want to go out again.
Ever the night owls we went to bed about half 9.
Tomorrow we are going to the new Prime 1 which has just opened then Universal just to do a few rides.
