Is Tinker Bell in the show where she "flies" on a guidline real or mechanical ?

I always thought she was just like a light or something as we always watched it from outside of the park at the bus stops. Last trip, though, my friends and I watched the fireworks from the bridge between Main Street and Tomorrowland. She flew right over us and she was definitly real.
