This thread is back up and running again...

Anyway, my sister was picked to be Tinker Bell starting next month at WDW and needs to move from the Midwest to Orlando. About how much is rent in that area? We are finding $700+ for studios and 1 beds. Is that a normal price? I thought it might be less expensive than that. I had also thought Disney had housing for interns just off site the parks and that interns would pay the rent. No suggestions were made as to where she shoud live.

Anyone know where cast members live?

Sorry I had to delete this post for a few moments. Just needed to get a few more details but we're good to go now. Suggestions?

Cast members live all over the place. Housing for CPs and Interns (although I thought they discontinued the Intern housing) is not available to regular CMs.

That is a regular price or even a bit low. Cagan's Crossings has apartments in that price range that I would recommend. Some of the other complexes not so much.

Thanks, Traveliz. Cagan Crossings looks for affordable. Not sure how she's going to be able to swing paying rent and all with how much she's paid.

I don't live in Orlando, but I do live in Central Fl and that's pretty spot on. Depending on the amenities that you want out of your apartment and such. Orlando is pretty huge though, so depending on how far she'd want to commute, you'll have a lot of places to shop around.

You have to keep in mind that rent is a lot higher here in Florida right now, mainly because of all of the foreclosures going on. People who have lost their houses are renting, people who were renting houses aren't able to because the house was foreclosed on, that sort of thing. Our rent for our apartment was due to go up to nearly $1100 (we were paying $940) ... it was not worth it. Not at all. But, all of them were full, and there was a waiting list to get in. This was a 2bd/1ba, the 2/2 was $1250, I think.

My advice is to shop around. I'm sure there are apartment complexes that will give a discount for Disney CMs, you might have to ask. I'm just glad we aren't renting anymore.

Thanks for sharing, Regina. I'm sorry to hear of the rental troubles in FL. Shopping around it is! I told my sister to give me like 3 addresses of places she likes so I can check then out when I head to WDW on Aug. 18th. I figured it'll be good to just get a feel for the area before she gets down there.

if you contact the chamber of commerace they will send you info and also try contacting the casting dept at disney they may have suggestions of places or even maybe there is a board for sharing a apartment! ( although that might be scary).. I live outside tampa and find the same deal with apt and also that electric is slightly higher than the norh was! good luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Try a reputable Realtor - or even call a college in the area.
If your sister takes 1 course at a college - no matter what it is - she may be able to get housing at the college.
Maybe she can even rent a 1 room in a house.
Just try a Realtor.

found a good website:

I know some CMs that live at Cagan Crossings. They've lived there for several years. It doesn't take them long to get to Disney property, either.
