Hi all! We're considering a timeshare or vacation club purchase and could use some advice from those of you who are owners or who have recently done a tour. We like the flexibility of points-based memberships (like DVC), and we'd like to do a tour or two during our next trip (12/27-1/6). We'd love to find a tour/resort stay that would help offset some of the days of this trip. Any suggestions about the better resorts, better deals? I already love DVC, so I don't really need any more info about that. We're really looking for other options for comparison's sake. Also, my DH is inclined to walk out on "hardball" sales pitches, so the less of that, the better! Thanks!!

Hi Marcia! You may want to try the Timeshare Users Group website ( TUG ) for an answer to this question. Most everyone here is a DVC Lover and would never recommend you buy anything else. ;)

Good luck on your quest for the perfect fit. :)

HA! That's excellent advice!

As far as the DVC tour, forget pressure. It's just not like that at all. There may be a time-limited promotion going on, and they'll tell you that, but there is no pressure. When I took the tour, I told them up front I wasn't buying anything, and they said fine. I still got the full tour, answers to many questions, and an enjoyable chat with my guide. Then I bought resale. (But I later bought an add-on direct, which I wouldn't have done if she had pressured me.)

By the same token, don't expect any free weekend stays to entice you to attend a presentation either. DVC doesn't do that. You will get ice cream and maybe a fast pass, but no big bribes to entice you to be brow-beaten by a timeshare salesman.

During our last visit, we did a 50 point add on, and then visited the ice cream parlor. My DW thought the free ice cream was a great idea until I told her that the add on was free, but the ice cream was about $2500 per bowl.:rotfl2:

:rotfl: yep and my luck the expensive bowl of ice cream added 2 pounds
