WDWMagic has a rumor that Timekeeper will be closing after the holidays for good and be replaced by something "Incredible."

I saw it for the first time this last February. They opened it one day but it was almost like they were trying to keep it secret or something. I didn't even know what it was until I went inside.

What a shame. Another intelligent, literate and moving ride that couldn't find an audience.

The rumor about TimeKeeper (and Carousel of Progress) closing has been around for a couple of years now. So far, both are still open (even if only seasonally).

The inside entrance area of the Timekeeper was being used this past week (Thanksgiving) as a character meeting area for Stitch, the Incredibles and Buzz.

Where was/is this ride and what was it like? I can`t remember it..

It really wasn't a "ride". It was a movie in the round, kind of like Canada in Epcot, you have to stand. It's across from Stitch in Tomorrowland.

It's a 360 standing 'simulator' (you feel as though you're moving even though you're just standing still)... ah, I've only been on it once, but I hope it's open for when me and DBf go next week so he can see it!

According to allearsnet.com it is permanently closing on Feb. 26th to make way for a yet-to-be-announced new attraction.

also on wdwmagic...i was just coming here to post.

here is what they have posted:

"14 February 2006: Timekeeper permanently closing

Timekeeper in Tommorowland will be permanently closing on 26 February 2006. Work is set to then begin on a new attraction, although at this stage, there is no reliable information on what that new attraction is
. "

The Intercot website also is saying that Time Keeper will be closing for good on February 26th. The character meet and great will be relocated to another part of Tomorrowland. They also claim that Imagineering is currently developing a new attraction for this location. This information was posted on their website on February 16th. :confused3

OK, a RUMOR I heard a few years ago of an attriction that was being considered for the Timekeeper space was a new version of the Flying Saucers that used to be at DisneyLand in the early 60s.

My frist trip to DL was 68 and they were gone by then. Apparantly it was like a giant air hockey table with air blowing up for holes in the ground. Guests rode in round saucer shape cars that could be controlled by shifting your body weight and the whole thing was kind of a bumper cars type attraction. I've seen pictures and videos and talked to folks who had ridden it.

Lots of maint issues with the ride which is why it finally closed. I heard that they felt that the ride was feasible with newer technologies and that it would be similar to the old attraction but a bit different as well. Also the old ride was outdoors which led to some of the maint issues (debris getting in the ride etc.) and the new ride would need to be indoors.

I heard this a while back and haven't heard anything recently, but its the only rumor I've got on an attraction for this space.

If we took all the threads titled "Timekeeper closing" and deleted them, I bet we'd cause so many holes in the database that the site would crash.

What's the real deal on the closing date? Has anyone seen Timekeeper in the last week? I walked up to it on the evening of February 19th, eager to experience it for the last time. However, when I arrived, they were using the queue area to pass out EMH wristbands. I asked a CM if it had closed for the day. I'll spare you the all the parts of the conversation, but he insisted that they had made the decision to close it earlier than the Feb. 26th date, and that it was already closed for good.

Honestly, I didn't believe him. I thought he was just misinformed. In any event, I won't be back at WDW by Feb. 26th, so I've missed it. But, I'm interested to know if anyone knows for certain if it has been open at all in the past week or so.

Thanks.

I was just there. It was officially closed on Monday Feb 20th. If you looked in the windows of the space, they had at some point (because on 2/17 there was nothing there) put in backdrops for various Character meet and greets. Stitch, The Incredibles, and Mickey and Pluto in space were the scenes we saw. It was not open yet, they were still having meet and greets outside on the plaza.

I heard from a Disneyland Merch Manager that it had closed last week (on Sunday). Go figure! He said it had shut down for good, and I wasn't even asking about it. I had read about it on these boards as well, but he said it was "officially" announced to CMs (he didn't say how).
