Gilbert Gottfried has been fired from Aflac after his horrible and insensitive remarks about the tragedy in Japan. Should he continue to be in the Tiki Room? My thought is no, what is yours?
You can't be a cutting edge (sort of) comic and also represent a large corporation that wishes to offend nobody. Gilbert picked his poison. Hope he won't miss that Aflac paycheck too much.
Since the Tiki Room isn't open anyway-- will Disney jump on board and re-do it and dump Iago?
He is not the first Disney Star (it's kind of hard to call him that) to mess up. Vanessa Hudgens has a new set of *graphic* photos that just hit the internet. One could argue they should remove her likeness/voice from all the HSM stuff. Vanessa Hudgens and Miley Cyrus are both Disney stars that have not made the best choices but I can't seeing Disney dropping them.
I'm with Bill on this. Thing is, Gottfried is the voice of Iago in Aladdin, and that isn't going to change. As long as Iago is represented in such fashion that you hear the voice, it's got to be Gottfried. If Gottfried goes, Iago goes with him. As Bill said, go ahead and dump Iago, let's get back to the original version.
Meh. he was just making a joke. Maybe it was too soon for some people, maybe some people thought it was funny. I don't see the huge deal with it. I like the Tiki Room the way it is, don't understand why people are always crying about changing it back to it's old self. If they are going to change a ride back to the original, they should start with El Rio Del Tiempo.
The fact that Aflac would be shocked that Gilbert is at times inappropriate makes me laugh SO much.
I'm of the opinion that I'd love Under New Management to stay, because I'm a just a huge, huge Iago fan (he's easily my favorite Disney character ever. ♥). Bias alone makes up this opinion, yes, but him ripping on the Tiki Room makes me laugh hysterically, and I really don't think it's that big of a deal.
