Time Savers...IN the attraction?

I've been thinking of ways to save time in line, for example,
-Standing under the Umbrella Tightrope Walker at Haunted Mansion for a quick exit
-Standing near the sliding bookcase in Tower of Terror for a quick exit

Anyone know of any other good ones? Like is the left or right line in Tower of Terror shorter?!

I would disagree. The stretching room in the Haunted Mansion can hold quite a lot of people, especially during crowded times. And with Tower of Terror, a whole library of people can cause you to be a full elevator behind, which would be more than 1 minute.

I think you're worried about very little things. I've been on the wrong side of a packed stretching room at the Haunted Mansion. It doesn't take much time at all to get in a Doom Buggy. The real key here is strategy as the large crowd goes into that small queue area. People often don't know how to merge well and it is easy to get ahead or fall behind if you aren't paying attention. Honestly, I've gotten to a point where I'd rather wait the extra 1-2 minutes so as to keep my party together without the pushing and shoving that I have experienced a couple of times in there. As for the Tower of Terror, again it really isn't much difference in time. After waiting for a good 45 minutes to an hour outside of the hotel (as I've done in the past) the relatively short wait for the elevators doesn't matter to me. I think the longest I've ever been in that little area was about 5 minutes.

Don't be that person who runs to the door in the stretch room. We get that you've done it before. It messes up the loading process of the room and slows things down. Frustrating for the CM. Some people (not everyone) tend to talk about "that's the door" which ruins it for people who don't know and people who know but like to enjoy the magic. Just have fun. No problem with trying to get close to the door while still filling in all the available space and moving towards the back of the room. Just don't talk about it and don't make it obvious. ToT they sort of encourage you to go towards the door. That one isn't a big deal

The time saved is so minuscule I'm not sure it's really necessary to try and think about it. At that point you're already so close to riding, an extra minute or so won't make much of a difference.

Exactly, once you're in the pre-show the waiting is behind you. The only time saver I can think of is deciding whether to go straight or turn right on the ToT after leaving the library.

True but in the grand scheme of things your time savings is negligible. Slow down and just enjoy the experience. Don't think about how to get through it faster.

Generally, most people enter a room (queue, whatever) and go to the right. So I always go to the left.

(I've never thought of it as a time saver though).

It's been years since I've had to wait a few minutes in the pre-doom buggy line.

Now, being near the exit on the RnR pre-show can save more time if you have seen the video, before.

At BTMRR, as you walk down the ramp to the loading area, it seems 9 times out of 10 the left lane is faster (Accessible loading is on the right, which may contribute)

I stand near the door for rides like Haunted Mansion and Dinosaur. But I try not to do it obnoxiously! I've seen the pre-show SO MANY TIMES that even though I enjoy it, it's worth it for me to leave as soon as possible and get on the ride. My favorite is being the first person to get in my time rover: )

We hang back in the room for ToT so the kids aren't stuck among a forest of big people and can actually see the pre show stuff. Plenty of room at the back since so many are trying to be out quickly.

When the day comes that I am worried about these small time savings when I want to be enjoying the attractions, I'm going to rethink my vacation destination. I'm not trying to be snippy, but once I arrive, I just relax and go from there.

Exactly. If the priority is to LEAVE attractions as quickly as possible, why bother going in the first place?

In HM, is the door directly under the tightrope walker in both room? Just curious.

Agree with others. Our goal is to enjoy each experience to the maximum. Not to just complete as many attractions as possible.

But, if there is anywhere I appreciate the anxiety of lost minutes, it's WDW (not to mention the cost of lost minutes).

Here's my ideas for you:
1. In theaters, pick an empty row and move all the way to the end. You'll be able to exit quickly ahead of the masses. Many people target a partial row, to get seated in middle.
2. On any ride, hop out of the ride vehicle quickly, to beat those very slow moving people out of the exit area.
3. Leave parades and Wishes, just a minute before it ends, to beat the crowds.

I will stand near exit doors when I am able to do so in a non-ridiculous fashion. I will not run, push, or otherwise display inappropriate behavior to achieve this goal. I normally travel with someone who has vertigo, so it actually makes life easier to be near the exit, and not have to guide them in a large group until everyone is all back in a nice orderly line.

Hahaha, thanks for all the responses, everyone!

I go total commando when I visit WDW, so that's why some of you might not understand my compulsive need to have everything timed to the second xD. The reason I ask, is because it is frustrating for someone who might have waited 1-2 hours to get into ToT, and be the first person into the library, only to be the last person out. True, the line after Haunted Mansion moves quickly, but in Tower of Terror it can be up to 15 minutes long, so it does become annoying to have to wait extra there as well. Another example that comes to mind is Single Rider at RnRC - each person that gets in front of you can delay your experience by several minutes, which is not what you want, especially on a crowded day when there are already a bunch of other single riders in front of you after you leave the pre-show.

Plus, for example, in the case of Haunted Mansion, I stand near the Tightrope lady, but not to the point where my back is against the wall, which would cause a delay in the show. And I don't see how this would ruin the experience either. I still have a great view and enjoy the entire stretching room scene, but I just remove the uncomfortable pushing and shoving that ensues when a room full of people have to funnel down to a single file line to board the doom buggies.

Yes.

Yep, that 60 seconds saved is going to make all the difference. Try to relax and enjoy the experience. It's not a race. I truly hope this isn't a serious post.
Sometimes it's fun to squeeze an additional attraction before a scheduled show or ADR
