Timandlesley's The Sum of Our Thrills TR w/ tons of pics&video 9/27 PTR link pg.58

Great trip report! Congrats (belated) on your 12th. We will be celebrating our 12th in October and we also have 9 & 6 year olds - 2 boys.

Another great update!! I've never even heard about the kim possible missions?? Where can I learn more about that?

The segway tour looked awesome! How much is that? I think YOU deserve one now Lesley...given your love for World Showcase and all :)

Segway Tour looks great! I just booked it for my husband as a bday present. His bday is next week but he'll do the tour in November when we're there. :)

That butterfinger dessert looks AMAZING!!!

WOW!! I am so excited about that Mickey dog tag!! I can't wait to get one for our Golden (who is named Summer, but I'm thinkin she can still wear a Mickey tag ;)). Where exactly was that?

I did the Segway tour a couple of years ago- really, really fun. What a nice gift!! :thumbsup2 Also wanted to say, Kudos to your kids figuring out the China adventure- we were stumped and gave up (because we were running late to Tea at the GF)....maybe it had something to do with the jalepeno ritas we picked up in Mexico on our way to China...hmmmmmm.:rotfl:

hiya Lesley!

I booked the EPCOT segway for us when we go in Nov - cant wait! Tim's report made me even more excited!

I am also going to take your advice on going to the counter service you went to in The Land...that butterfinger pie looks amazing! :thumbsup2

Another great update Lesley!! I'm so glad you found your happy Gnome! He needed a good home and was waiting on you! :cheer2:

I loved the story/info about Morroco and the "imperfect" tile. I never knew this and it's quite fascinating! Thanks for sharing.

Just curious for your thoughts - I'm pretty sure Lauren and my Jacob are the same age (will be 7 in Oct) - does the Kim Possible keep her as interested as it seems to with Luke? I was considering doing this for Jacob and I think he would have a blast. Can you remind me where you pick them up?

Thanks,
Heather

Really enjoying your TR! Glad you finally got your gnome! It seems like Tim really enjoyed his Segway tour! It does look like a lot of fun!

Morning Lesley! I just happen to be here when your light is on. I think I smell an update VERY soon!! :woohoo:

You'll have to post pics of Lauren's regular braids when you get a chance. And be sure to let me know when you figure out the french braiding tricks...I need to know them too! :goodvibes

*edited: After I hit post, your update was there already, yay!
Too funny, I was doing it as you were posting.

wow, a great long update!!

Tim's tour looked/sounded like a lot of fun! I think I will have to try it one day.

How strange was the pickle guy?? Sometimes you just have those interestingly UNMAGICAL moments in Disney. I wonder if he was having an 'off' day? I can't imagine Disney wouldn't hear some complaints about this guy if he seriously was always that slow.

YES! Luke bought the shirt! :thumbsup2

I hope Lauren gets hers at some point too....

Thank you for the suggestion on the butterfinger cheesecake, and for that wonderful tidbit about the imperfect piece in the fountain. And I don't know where I had heard, but I already knew about Morocco being the only pavillion fully funded by its country. That's so awesome!

Congrats on getting your garden gnome Lesley!!
Yeah, the pickle guy was crazy. I'm glad Luke got the shirt too, he wears it all the time. You will LOVE the butterfinger cheesecake, soooo good!

Another fun day at Epcot! Isn't driving just lovely? We were really spoiled this year driving everywhere -- so much better than waiting on the buses.

Glad Tim and Bryan enjoyed their Segway tour -- love the tidbits Tim learning especially about Morocco.

Good idea getting the kids their own phones for the mission. Chelsea wanted nothing to do with it this year. :(
Yes, loved driving, it was great. Sorry about Chelsea:sad2:

Great update!
Thanks!

I'm enjoying all the updates. I would LOVE to do that Segway tour. The heat was really bad even earlier in June. There was one day on our trip that we gave up and went back earlier than planned (which is unknown for me!) because it was just miserably hot and muggy. The humidity was so high that your sweat couldn't even evaporate to cool you off! You just wear down a lot quicker, even though I am pretty much used to the heat.
The Segway tour does look fun, I hope to do it myself someday. The heat, not so fun!
What a great day in Epcot. I can believe it was hot! I give you families huge props for going during the summer. The heat can take a lot out of you.

I know it wasn't funny then but I had to laugh at the story of the CM packing pickles. Hello?! What craziness!
It was sooooooooooo hote that day! I know, totally crazy!
The Segway Tour sounds like fun. I would love to do that one day. We never spend much time in the World Showcase, I don't know why. I really want to see the American Adventure, it is at the top of my list for our next trip.

Too bad Lauren is the only girl in the group. When we went with my family my son was stuck by himself with 5 girls.:scared1:
I would love to do it too......... someday! Yeah, Lauren does o.k. with it for now.

Love the Mickey-gnome I have one living here, too.
Aren't they so cute!
So, as I was reading your TR and lovin' the pics! (disclaimer here: I am one of those weird people who looks at all the "extras" in the photos, people in the background, etc...) I couldn't help but do a double take, and laugh at how much the kid in the left background, behind Tim, looks EXACTLY like my brother in law! Here's a photo of my BIL to prove it!

SEEE??!! :lmao:
Too funny, so is it??
Yay - an Epcot day! I'm glad Tim enjoyed the Segway tour. We did Segways this summer (not at Disney) and it was a lot of fun! I can't wait to do the Epcot tour.

Love your Mickey garden gnome - very cute.
Fun!, glad you enjoyed the update.

Great Epcot day ! Sounds like you really accomplished alot despite the heat and crowds. Glad Tim enjoyed the segway tour. I love the dog tag you made. What a cool souvenir !
It was a fun day, aren't the dog tags cute?

I love that Mickey gnome! So cute! Were the ones below it rain gauges? Those are adorable too!

What a fun day in Epcot - you guys got a LOT done despite the heat!! I love that you and Diane just hung out a couple times too in Sunshine Seasons and then on Test Track. Gotta love that adult girl time! :thumbsup2

Glad Tim enjoyed the Segway tour, we loved it back in '06! It's a lot of fun! They have one at WL too where you go out in the sand and woods!
The rain guages were cute too, maybe next time. Yes, Diane and I love our girl time! WL one sounds fun!

What a great day--minus the heat and the poop in line. :scared1:

I think we might look into doing the Segway Tour next time. We did the KTTK tour last September and we loved every single minute of it! I'm so glad that Tim loved his present. And how neat to know so many fun little facts about the WS now.

I still haven't done a KP mission--but your kids look like they were having a great time!
You would love the Segway tour. The KP missions are super fun!

Fun morning and update! That Segway tour sounds like fun. I am anxious to try a KP mission when we go. I'm gonna have to rope my hubby into that one. I'm still trying to figure out what is wrong with the girl on the left behind Lauren in the Test Track line. I have heard things like that referred to as a "photo bomb"
Glad you enjoyed it, you will love the missions, yeah, what was up with her in that pic??
Glad you finally got your gnome! :cheer2: I have been in your predicament before, not buying something at WDW and then getting home and wishing you had, hoping they would still have it next time you went back. You look tickled pink with him in your grip!
I am so happy it was there!!! I was so happy, glad it came through in the pic.

What a great but hot looking day! Glad Tim and Bryan enjoyed had such a great time on the Segway Tour. Thank Tim for the review and visiual of Mr. T. How did Mickey like his new dog tag? I am so happy you got your Gnome? I remember reading about how much you wanted it from your Girls only TR. Glad it looks good in your garden!

Looking forward to seeing how the day ended? Maybe some swimming on a nice hot afternoon????
It was a great day, but it was hot . Glad you enjoyed the Mr. T visual, it's funny hearing him do it. No, no swimming on this day.
I love the mickey gnome, I saw one at the gift shop at Ft Wilderness this summer and wished I had bought it. I did buy the mickey rain gauge, on the shelf below the gnomes.

I am glad Tim enjoyed the segway tour, my DH loved it last Sept., so he tried the segway tour at Ft Wilderness this summer.
Aren't they so cute, just love my gnome.
we got these for sherman and eli, too! there's a machine over in the soarin' area near the bathrooms and it took FOREVER to get them engraved. our machine must have been slow. but they are soo cute!

okay...i think we're in the twilight zone or something. i have this guy in my butterfly garden in the back yard AND i have that red mickey t-shirt! great minds think alike, i guess. glad you found him. he's so cute.

very cool! morocco is my favorite country in WS so it's interesting to learn these things about it. and the tour sounds great. i love hearing about lamont!

look at the guy in the upper lefthand side of the picture - his face is hilarious!
Hi Dawn, glad you have the dog tags too, soooo cute. That is so funny about that picture, cracked me up after you pointed it out. Glad you enjoyed the Morocco info, it is interesting.

I am convinced that we need to rent a car when we go. I am not a fan of bus travel...

Did Tim say it was pretty easy to get the hang of the Segway? That tour sounds like so much fun and interesting!

Score on your gnome and the dog tag! I'll have that on my list when we go in October.
I brought home a Minnie garden statue in June.
She's a cutie!

Great update Lesley!
I usually love the buses, but hte car was great. No, he said it was easy to ride the Segway.

How much fun you all had today! From the Segway tour description to everything that you and Diane did with the kids! Fun! Yes there were definitely some HOT days that week I agree!!!! :faint Still seems like you all had a great time! That cheesecake sounded fabulous! I will remember to get two phones next time, I think that is a good idea! :thumbsup2

Looking forward to the next update!
We did have a fun day. The cheesecake was wonderful!!!Two phones is the way to go for sure!

Sounds like The guys had a great time on the tour. I bet it was cool to hear all the facts about the different countries

sounds like you got a lot done

I forget. Is the green side on Mission Space the less intense?

that cheesecake looks so good

I love that mickey gnome.. HE is so cute :goodvibes
The guys did have a great time. Green side is less intense.
Great update!!!:goodvibes I can't wait to try a segway tour someday! I laughed about the intentional "mistake" in Morocco. Same thing happened when making my quilt... I messed up the arrangement of blocks somehow...and everyone told me the same thing! The Amish make mistakes in their quilt so its not "perfect". ;)
Glad you enjoyed the update. Too funny about your quilt.

it must be, Kelly. I always ALWAYS forget too. In my mind, Green =

yeah, THAT kind of green. But they have it backwards.
You are right, green is less intense.

Sounds like the big boys had a great time on their segway tour!

I second what Kelli said--I admire people who willingly go during the summer. There's no way I could do it with the heat and humidity! Glad you had fun, and you really got a lot done!

I hope the rest of your day includes some uninterupted (no code brown) pool time!
Unfortunately with my teaching schedule summer is the only time for a long summer trip : (
Great trip report! Congrats (belated) on your 12th. We will be celebrating our 12th in October and we also have 9 & 6 year olds - 2 boys.
Glad you enjoyed the update. Happy Anniversary!!!!

Another great update!! I've never even heard about the kim possible missions?? Where can I learn more about that?

The segway tour looked awesome! How much is that? I think YOU deserve one now Lesley...given your love for World Showcase and all :)
Happy you enjoyed it. The Kim Possible Missions are great, ask away, I'll be happy to answer. You get a Fast PAss for them in Innoventions, they have missions throughout the world showcase, really fun!
Segway Tour looks great! I just booked it for my husband as a bday present. His bday is next week but he'll do the tour in November when we're there. :)

That butterfinger dessert looks AMAZING!!!
How exciting!!! He will love it. When are you going in November, we'll be there the 11-14th.

WOW!! I am so excited about that Mickey dog tag!! I can't wait to get one for our Golden (who is named Summer, but I'm thinkin she can still wear a Mickey tag ). Where exactly was that?

The dog tag machine was in the area by the games as you exit Mission Space. You could get there without riding it through the gift shop. Too funny about China, must have been the ritas : )
hiya Lesley!

I booked the EPCOT segway for us when we go in Nov - cant wait! Tim's report made me even more excited!

I am also going to take your advice on going to the counter service you went to in The Land...that butterfinger pie looks amazing! :thumbsup2
So exciting. When are you there in November? The Butterfinger cheesecake rocks!

Thanks,
Heather
Hi Heather, I was so happy he was there waiting for me. Yes, Lauren is 6 and will be 7 in October as well. She LOVES the missions, she solved it all by herself. You get a FP for them in Innoventions (they don't count though so you can get another Fast PAss as well) and then it tells you what country and what time to get your phone.
Great update! Have you ever done any other tours at WDW?

Really enjoying your TR! Glad you finally got your gnome! It seems like Tim really enjoyed his Segway tour! It does look like a lot of fun!
So glad you are enjoying it, he had a great time!

Hi Everyone! We are out in New Jersey right now staying with Diane and family. We are having a great time and will be here through Thursday. We went to the beach last night, it is SO beautiful, I don't know what I pictured New Jersey to be like, but it is just gorgeous, the kids jumped right into the waves. Today we went to Atlantic City. We lost 20 bucks in the slot machines, had fun walking the boardwalk and the shops, saw the beach, ate at Rainforest Cafe and shopped at the Disney Store (I spoiled Lauren and got her a Princess Tiana dress (hey, it was on sale and I couldn't resist).
Tomorrow we are heading to Carlo's Bakery (from Cake Boss) early in the morning, I have some crumbcakes pre ordered, can't wait! Then we head into New York City for the Day, I CAN'T WAIT, I have never been!!!!
Well, bye for now guys, I'll do an update after we get back from Jersey, sad it's our last vacation of the summer because that means when we get back I only have 2 weeks until school starts. :scared1:
-Lesley

I've loved following your's and Diane's trip reports. A word of warning when going to Carlo's Bakery - make sure to read the signs when you park. You never know when they might be cleaning the streets in Hoboken! Not only did we leave with a delicious crumbcake but also a $45 ticket!!!

I followed along on your PTR but somehow didn't realize the TR had started. Doh! Oh well, I have had so much fun catching up.

Looks like a super magical trip with good friends! So much I wanted to comment on but unfortunately I have forgotten most of it now. So instead I'll just say I'm looking forward to more.

Hope your two families have a great time in NJ/NY! :)

Sorry to hear it'll be 2 weeks til school starts. :scared1:

You'll be right down the street from me...I'll keep a look out when I go get my coffee in the morning. Hopefully the line at Carlo's won't be too bad. Enjoy!

Welcome to NJ! So glad you are having a good time and loved the beach. It is beautiful...especially at night!!

Enjoy your day in NYC! My daughter is going to the play, Rock of Ages, on Saturday with my sister and brother-in-law. Each year they treat her to a special weekend and go to a play or something else (for the last several years she has picked a play in NYC).

Enjoy your stay!! :goodvibes
